While I didn't really know what I was getting into when I sat down to watch the 2019 movie "Sadistic Intentions" from writer and director Eric Pennycoff, I did believe it to be a horror movie.
Turns out that the movie was frightfully devoid of anything even remotely scary and it wasn't really much of a horror movie to be honest. So on that account "Sadistic Intentions" disappointed, and it wasn't off to a great start.
Little did it help that the storyline was rather boring and had very little appeal to me. So I can't really claim that I was enjoying watching the movie. In fact, I managed to sit through about an hour of the ordeal, then I simply had my share of boredom and got up and shut it off. Never going to return to watch the rest of the movie either. Yeah, the movie just had that little interest to me.
The acting in the movie was adequate though, and that at least counts for something. But it was hardly enough to lift up the movie in any way, because the movie has so many shortcomings that it was a losing battle - a losing uphill battle even.
My rating of "Sadistic Intentions" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

I have to agree with another reviewer stating it started promising but then it went downhill rapidly. The first part was kinda okay, with some tension building and a not so bad soundtrack, some decent acting as well, but then suddenly it took a turn and became just ridiculous and annoying to watch. I wished I liked it more but in the end it was just not entertaining enough to be remembered. I would pass on this one if I were you, even if you like Metal music, for that the story is too dumb.
Starts off ok. Decent acting and a plot thickening. Then just suddenly goes down hill at full speed with pathetic acting and unbelievable stupid desicions that you just can't sit back and enjoy it for what it is, it just goes right off the rails into a brick wall.
Don't bother.
Don't bother.
I've seen a couple of movies with the three main actors. They go for it. Is the greatest movie ever? No, but it's pretty good and everyone in it acted their asses off.
I won't spoil a thing for you, but a while back I got the chance to see this film at the Knoxville Horror Film Festival of 2018. I didn't expect much going in, but it quickly subverted my expectations. What really holds this film together are the stellar performances and a tight/solid direction. The film has a few missteps here and there, but nothing too distracting (certainly nothing that makes the film any less enjoyable).
Sorry for the vague review, but I genuinely think it's best for the viewer to go in blind with this film. I did, and I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely on my list of movies to pick up once they're released (hopefully physically). Fingers crossed that this film gets picked up for distribution.
