Interesting thriller

I watched this movie twice, with about a year between viewings. It's a pretty neat thriller, with interesting subject matter and, as another viewer pointed out, a few unexpected plot twists. If you like thrillers and/or movies with gay content, check it out. Do not be put off by negative reviews by those who think they are very clever, but don't know the correct spelling of words like "farce" or the name "Igor," for example.

A bit slow

This little flick is sort of a floater between being good and bad. The story rambles along and then the twist in the plot.

It's basically about two guys that return to a Bed & Breakfast to justify themselves and revenge the wound the owner inflicted upon these two guys earlier in an incident the viewer only knows by seeing a headline in an old news tabloid. But the two guys are unprepared for what happens to them by design of the owner and the incident with mysterious Russian.

This story is told slowly and it gets a little boring until the last third of the movie. Not one you will remember but might enjoy if you are in the mood for a mystery.

No Walk in the Park

These are not nice people.

The film is interesting however. The performances are good and there's a couple of nice twists.

It's also not preachy. It's a dark movie with lots of sex (mostly seen through night vision goggles), which may make some people uncomfortable. Still, I recommend it if your in the mood for an understated thriller.

Boring!

Who wrote this? Worse, who FINANCED this?

Boring characters, slow, thin plot spread out. By the time you get to the unimpressive plot twist you just don't CARE.

B&B (2017): Low Budget Movie Potential

Though some criticise "B&B" for its leisurely pace, I found myself engrossed from the intriguing opening scene. The film avoids preaching, instead presenting both sides of the central conflict, leaving the audience to grapple with its complexities. While it may not be unforgettable, it's a satisfying watch for those who enjoy an understated thriller with surprising twists.

The true strength of "B&B" lies in its well-crafted characters. The initial depiction of the B&B owner as self-righteous is cleverly subverted by his subsequent actions. This multi-dimensionality extends to all the characters, deepening the film's intrigue. Strong performances further enhance the believability of these characters.

The film works well within its modest means, wringing life-or-death drama out of what is essentially a debate over the accuracy of one man's gaydar. The tension is palpable, and the stakes feel high despite the seemingly trivial premise. However, a more polished script and greater attention to cinematography could have elevated the film even further, adding depth and visual appeal to the story.

Despite its merits, "B&B" could have benefited from a slightly longer runtime to allow for a more fleshed-out story, potentially incorporating the hinted-at prequel. The film opens with a newspaper headline, "Homosexuals sue Christian for double bed," setting the stage for the ensuing drama.

Overall, "B&B" is recommended, particularly for those who appreciate a slow-burning mystery with shocking twists and complex characters. It might not linger in your memory, but it provides a compelling and thought-provoking experience for its audience.

Utterly tasteless; avoid.

There's no way "B&B" will ever be listed among the great LGBT films or in any list of great thrillers. Indeed, this creepy little picture is actually thoroughly objectionable and is just the kind of film to give gay-themed movies a bad name. Fred and Marc are the recently married gay couple who return to the Christian guesthouse they were once barred from after winning a courtcase against the owner for discrimination. Unfortunately, on the same night a potentially psychopathic Russian also checks in. Since one of the the two gay guests is totally obnoxious you do hope he gets his comeuppance and early on, (the other is seen as 'the good guy'), so your sympathies hardly lie with those characters meant to be the heroes, (the homophobic guesthouse owner, very well played by Paul McGann, is actually most sympathetic person in the movie). This is an utterly tasteless picture whose torturous plot is unlikely to appeal to anyone and certainly not to a gay audience. Avoid.

Big Mistake

This is an amateurish "mystery". Is it somebody's grad thesis film? The characters are one-dimensional clichés trapped in contrived situations. The wires are all showing. Too bad, because the concept could have worked, perhaps as a campy horror film.

Annoying

A lot of typical "thriller" techniques but not done well. Plot twists that don't make sense. People doing things they really wouldn't do real life. So much unexplained, well because it can't be.

So much misused potential!

Difficult to see, cinematography ruined the film

I wanted to watch this because I've seen Callum Woodhouse in "The Durrells" and "All Creatures Great and Small" and wanted to see how he'd handle a more serious role. He did well, in a supporting role, but I had great difficulty in following the film. I admit I watched it on an iPad and not a TV, but the real problem was with the lighting. Almost every scene was too dark to see what was going on. I turned the brightness up, but still too dark.

As to the plot itself, it was rather convoluted. Yes, there were plot twists but the development was poor. It really could have been much better, which was disappointing because I was hoping for something more. Good actors were put in a mediocre movie.

Hmmm...slow and did not really got me hooked

**B&B Review**

The leads in "B&B" were hot, and I was entertained. However, there were too many twists, and I don't really think the film qualifies as a thriller. As always, Tom Bateman is stunning and a very convincing top. Seal Teale is super sexy, but James Tratas was the real treat here. If you don't have much to watch, give it a go.

Get ready for a jaw-dropping thriller with plenty of fun moments

I was invited by a friend to see B&B at the CineStudio in Hartford, CT. In fact this was B&B's second US preview, followed by an outdoor celebration of the Out Film CT Organization's 30th LGBT Anniversary Film Festival. What a great night it was...

Movie starts with a gay couple checking into a B&B. In the beginning I felt I was watching a TV movie because there was no background music. Soundtrack did come later on to add the feeling needed to this fast paced Hitchcock style thriller. There was not a single dull moment after all and crowd was either giggling or impatiently mumbling, waiting what will happen next. I enjoyed the well selected cast and sets, especially the park scenes (I am not going to tell you), filmed with a special night-vision camera, which I think could have been more erotic and extended. Of course that's my personal idea.

This is my 3rd movie review here and, I am very happy to be the first reviewer of this great movie. Don't miss it.

Don't miss this

A great and unique thriller. B&B represents gay men not as people always chasing after sex - as in so many "worthy" LGBTQ films but our heroes are as a married couple who love each other. With more twists and turns than a country road B&B will keep you guessing right up until the end.

Suspenseful film with some very unexpected twists

This was a suspense movie, that started out looking like one thing, but morphed during the film into quite something else. Very well done.

Not sure I understand, and don't agree with the reviews calling it slow. Rather, it builds in complexity, and becomes more engrossing as the story unfolds.

There are only a few characters in the entire film, and the threads and the knots between them get more complicated, dark, and baffling as the story goes on.

Visually interesting, excellent acting, and just enough red herrings to keep you wondering.

Turn out the lights, and let yourself enjoy a good thriller of a film.
