    Badly directed, very boring film

The fact that actor Rakshit Shetty did something like "Ulidavaru Kandanthe (UK)" is the only thing that he is banking upon but he should let that go because the audience won't. We will know him as the man who made "UK". Actor-Director Rishab Shetty directs "Ricky" and it is really badly done. Rishab also acts in a cameo and he has done a fine job as an actor much better than directing it. Letting the past go and not comparing it to "UK" also doesn't make this film feel better.

Every film stands on its story, then it's Screenplay, then the dialogues... Then comes the rest. When the story itself is so immature and childish, written like a social message, how can one enjoy anything in this film? Yes, there are films with social messages or moral values, but do entertain the audience. Well, this is not one of those. The actors do take their job seriously and everyone have proved their worth here, barring a few scenes where even the best of them have exaggerated themselves, but how much can they carry the burden of an entire film with a bad script? The music doesn't save the film either. It looked like a well made Govt. Ad. Though the trailer didn't bring any joy, the film doesn't too. The film falls flat in the very first 30 minutes with one song following another. The love story isn't strong enough, but is lengthy and has nothing that attracts the eye nor soothes the ear. It was sad watching good actors go waste, but it was more saddening watching Rakshit Shetty do such a film for a friend.

    Script driven Movie.

Frankly some 2-3 years back, I should say I'm not a big fan of Kannada movies. Because I was bored with similar type of Love/Mass scripts with nothing good about direction, Screen- Play, VFX, editing nor dialogues (Ya.. Except Mangaru Male for dialogues).

But films like Ugram, UK, Luciya and Ranitaranga proved the Standard of Kannada films to the world which even surpassed the Bollywood film industry.

Ricky... is another film which i can say a Grand welcome to Direction/script oriented visual medium. Though film has got more than 60% of Naxalism backend, Rishabh is successful in portraying pure Love shaded plot throughout the film. You feel like it's a complete love script.

Why I will give positive rating for Ricky:

1). Strong Love/Naxalism shaded Dialogues; You will be happy to listen The very fresh, dignified, structured, pure, unique Kannada dialogues. (I bet, everyone will give Full rating for the best structured Kannada dialogues.)

2). Naxalism backend: The storyline is unique and fresh; Also Director is successful in portraying the ground realities of Naxalism/Society/Systems.

3). Direction-Storyline; As said Director done a very good job While Presenting pure Love topic with Strong Naxalism Back plot.

4). VFX-Screenplay-Editing: The VFX and Color Correction Techniques are amazingly done for Naxalism Shaded part. You will get into the the Forest black shaded environment within a nano-second.

5). Acting: Haripriya done a commendable job for both the Role. You feel like she is All-into the Character. Other actors also like Rakshith, Pramod also gave their best.

Why I will say, I can give bad rating for Ricky(though i didn't gave):

    1). Songs/Music: Arjun Janya's music-tunes for love songs didn't synced at all; or they could have been dropped all love songs;

2). Background score: The Background score could have been better for love shaded drama; even though Background score for Naxalism drama is quite convincing.

3). Sadhu's comedy track: I strongly feel Comedy could have been better and short or could have been dropped.

    Highly confused story telling!

Rakshit Shetty seemed like a force to reckon with in the Kannada Industry after his first two movies. An amazing entertainer such as Simple-ag-ond-love-story followed by an out of the box movie such as Ulidhavaru-Kandathe, I was a believer that Rakshit is a thinker and his movies are going to be a league apart from the rest of the noise. However after watching Rikki, my belief has taken a serious beating.

Rikki is an excellent example of highly confused story telling! I am not sure if Rishab was trying to create an epic love story, an entertainer or provide a glimpse of harsh reality. He took an ounce of all of the above and made a masala movie which left me seriously confused(and not in a good way). The number of twists in the movie will put Abbas-Mustan to shame.

The review may be a tad bit harsh, but take it with a pinch of salt. Voicing it out to let you know we expect better from folks like you(Rakshit and Rishab).

Go back to the drawing board, see where it went wrong and come back with a winner next time! Cheers.

A movie that shows the pain of People

A movie that tells the story of people who suffer from the so called Government projects and how they want to take revenge on the system. Love story is just a part of the movie but the Theme is totally different.

Very well directed and all the characters are perfectly placed and have give their best. Full Marks to the Locations (it shows that Movies can be shot in Karnataka and no need to visit other countries) Music / Songs and background score is awesome.

For a movement i thought the ending may have been changed but then when you think of the actual fact, the system won't let it happen. (if you think of real life).

If at all you want to compare the movies, do it with other Kannada movies not only with the the previous ones of the Team. End of the day Viewers need Change.

well written story line by Rishab shetty & well executed by Rakshith and Haripritya. The movie is no where boring and rishab has outdone his work to hold the attention of the audience through out the movie.

screen play is good and coming to songs, choreography is bit poor but overall beautiful locations are captured and good weight-age given by arjunjanya for melodious songs. It Would have been different if it was a happy ending but since it was a true story, tragedy ending was expected!!

The theme of the movie is about a childhood love story between a city guy and innocent village girl. At the mid of the story she loses her sweet home and parents. Eventually this outraged girl joins hand with Naxalites to fight back against the government for ceasing their property. The Hero who is a wild life conservation activist arrives back to the village in search of her but things were revealed to him later as he exploits the forest with neighbors. So the way he convinces her to give up the revolutionary ideology to come back with him to lead a normal life is the rest of story.
