Take Cover is yet another take on one of, if not the most used plots in film, ready for retirement the protagonist, be they a spy, thief or killer for hire, agrees to one last job only to have it all go sideways. In this case, it’s Sam Lorde who we first see on a roof along with his spotter Ken talking about God as they wait for their target to arrive.

Their target does arrive, and they get their kill, but Sam also kills a woman who seemingly throws herself in front of him trying to save him. He retreats to his cabin in the woods to deal with this, and when their boss Tamara contacts him with his next assignment he tells her it will be his last.

Hulu has confirmed that several of its original series will be debuting new episodes on the streaming service in October, including the first installment of the horror anthology “Into the Dark” as well as more of season 1 of the Sean Penn drama “The First.” And there will also be new to Hulu seasons of some of your favorites reality shows from other networks, including various editions of “Little Women” and “The Real Housewives.”

Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first Hulu appearances including the Oscar-winning “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” and “Raging Bull.”

Kew Media has set a July 2 VOD release in North America and the U.K. for the dark comedy “Bees Make Honey” from writer-director Jack Eve, starring his sister Alice Eve and father Trevor Eve, Variety has learned exclusively.

The film, set in 1935, also stars Hermione Corfield, Joséphine de La Baume, Wilf Scolding, Joshua McGuire, Anatole Taubman and Ivanno Jeremiah. Alice Eve plays a character desperately attempting to solve the murder of her husband by recreating the exact circumstances a year later.

“Bees Make Honey” is the debut feature film from Jack Eve, whose short film “Lithgow Saint” premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and was acquired by Curzon Cinemas in the UK.

Distributor Kew Media Group has filled out its slate ahead of next month’s Cannes Film Festival and acquired worldwide sales rights to six new titles. The films will be making their festival market debut at the Marche du Film.

The titles include Nothing Like A Dame, a conversation piece between four renowned British actresses – Eileen Atkins, Judi Dench, Joan Playwright and Maggie Smith. The film stars Richard Brake (Game Of Thrones), Natalia Kostrzewa (The Cured) and Jo Woodcock (Dorian Grey) in a story that delves into the culture of tattooing and body modification.

In the film, Katia (Kostrzewa), a young Polish woman adrift in London, meets Bob (Brake), an American tattoo artist. Katia is drawn to his mysterious aura and the taboo culture of body modification, but Bob has a dark, secret desire to leave his mark on the world and little does Katia know that her fascination with him will put her life in danger.

Jamie Carmichael

La-based international sales veteran Jamie Carmichael is stepping down from his role as president of film at Kew Media Group.

The long-time Content Film head is understood to be lining up another venture in the film and TV sector but details have yet to be confirmed.

Kew told Screen in a statement:

”Kew is further combining its film and television units. This allows for more cohesion and synergies across our sales and marketing teams and better positions the company for its growth and expansion. The new joint division will be led by Greg Phillips, President, Distribution. Jamie Carmichael, President of Film, has decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities.”

Star Trek Into Darkness alum Alice Eve has closed a deal to star in Replicas, according to Deadline.

Eve, who is primed to have a busy 2016 thanks to roles in The Stolen, Bees Make Honey and James Oakley’s mob drama The Brits Are Coming, will play Mona, wife to Keanu Reeves’ male lead Will Foster.

Unfortunately, story details remain thin on the ground at the time of writing. That being said, Replicas is shaping up to be an old-school sci-fi that blends some thematic elements of Reeves-fronted thriller John Wick. Foster is a “neuroscientist whose family is killed in a traffic accident and will stop at nothing to bring them back — pitting himself against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force and the physical laws of science.”

At one point, Replicas was set to be helmed by Tanya Wexler (Hysteria), although Deadline now reveals that it is Jeffrey Nachmanoff...

Hulu is blessed to have a name that sounds roughly enough like "Hallow." That means it's basically honor-bound to bring the heat for Halloween. Thankfully for the October 2018 new releases, Hulu is bringing us the spookies that we need. The Blair Witch Project, The Others, and Child's Play all arrive this month. And if you're looking for some more wholesome creepies, The Nightmare Before Christmas should do. And if that weren't enough, Hulu is debuting its own horror show - anthology series Into the Dark.

For those shamefully unable to get into the Halloween spirit, Hulu is bringing in some other fun film options. Galaxy Quest, Music and Lyrics, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective should help out with that.

Then of course, are the usual and typically deep TV offerings.
