The shows international rights had changed hands several times causing lengthy delays in product, DVD and Bluray releases. After SABANs collapse, the rights were acquired by Fox Family, later Disney would acquire the cats after obtaining a chunk of Fox Family. For over a decade Disney sat on the Pizza Cats property, doing nothing with it. Even going out of their way to legally bar the Pizza Cats addition to Tasunoko Vs Capcom; as well as barring Tatsunoko from releasing any DVDs or new merchandise domestically in Japan.

Thankfully in 2012 the rights expired and went back to Tatsunoko, who immediately released a full official DVD box set in 2012, which remained in the top 10 sales chart for weeks. Around that time Diskotek Media acquired international distribution rights from Tatsunoko and released full DVD box sets of both Samurai Pizza Cats and Kyatto Ninden Teyandee in 2013. Ever since then there has been an annual release of new and official Pizza Cats merchandise.

During it's original Japanese TV broadcast run the show was rather popular and doing exceptionally well in the broadcast ratings with a viewership average of 10% and a high of 14%. As a comparison, huge Shonen titles during their prime, such as One Piece or Naruto were getting similar averages over a decade later. Official interviews have shown the shows staff were astounded by how popular the show had become during its original run. Jetix fans from Europe and America thought that the Jetix brand was dead. They were shocked that the show Samurai Pizza Cat aired on kids' VTC 11 TV during Jetix-themed television block. It was 14 years after the end of the last Jetix television channel.
