One of filmmaking’s greatest powers is its ability to offer an audience a new perspective. To show them something they haven’t seen before or to reveal a viewpoint in which they can place themselves. This is power is central to filmmaker Elahe Esmaili’s documentary short A Move, which sees Esmaili return to her hometown in Mashhad, Iran after being inspired by the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. The film covers the reaction Esmaili’s family have to her embracing of the movement, from quiet conversations in the back of a car to subtle gestures at a communal gathering. It’s a fascinating insight into the pushback and repercussions faced by women in Iran who are looking to change their lives for the better. With A Move screening at Sheffield Doc/Fest this week (13th & 14th June), Dn caught up with Esmaili – who last joined us with her child...

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Curb Your Enthusiasm's series finale!
Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm finale brilliantly redeems Seinfeld's controversial ending from 26 years ago. Seinfeld's characters unfairly ended up in jail, but Curb Your Enthusiasm's Larry escapes punishment, staying true to David's no lessons learned mantra. Both Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm protagonists are social misfits, but their harmless antics don't warrant a prison sentence.
The series finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm sees Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld reassess how they should have ended Seinfeld, and their new insight couldn’t be better (despite being 26 years too late). Premiering 25 years after the mockumentary pilot, Curb Your Enthusiasm’s ending brings back plenty of familiar faces from the show’s 12 seasons as Larry David is put on trial for breaking a law about bringing voters water in Atlanta. In brilliant Larry David fashion, his arrest in...

Curb Your Enthusiasm's finale mirrors Seinfeld, then changes the ending with a surprise mistrial twist. From old enemies testifying to an unexpected jailbreak, the finale gives fans a fitting, unsentimental end. Larry's character remains unchanged, learning no lessons, in a comedy series that defies typical endings.
Larry David has wrapped up Curb Your Enthusiasm after 25 years on the air with a highly anticipated finale episode that ends the series in a fittingly unsentimental way. Curb Your Enthusiasm’s aptly titled series finale – season 12, episode 10, “No Lessons Learned” – delivered the Seinfeld finale redo that everyone was expecting, and then completely upended the Seinfeld finale in a surprising final twist. The finale followed up on Larry’s arrest in the season 12 premiere with a trial in Atlanta, where most of Larry’s enemies from the series’ history resurfaced to testify against him.

This article contains spoilers for the Curb Your Enthusiasm series finale.
As many fans predicted, the Curb Your Enthusiasm series finale concluded just like the much-maligned Seinfeld finale, with Larry David sent to jail for (petty) crimes against humanity. Granted, it wasn’t exactly like David-penned Seinfeld finale as, on Curb, Jerry Seinfeld’s chance encounter with a Joe Pesci lookalike leads to a jury nullification and mistrial, setting our cranky hero free once again.
Before that last minute Deus Ex Jerry, however, Curb Your Enthusiasm gets to indulge in the best part of the Seinfeld ending of yore by having many, many guest stars and other faces from the show’s past make appearances. From the prosecutor to the judge to all the witnesses that attest to Larry’s poor character, the Curb finale has many guest star roles to fill. Here’s how it fills them.

FromSoftware’s 2015 gothic masterpiece, Bloodborne, enchanted players with the beautiful world of Yharnam, teeming with grotesque characters and intriguing lore. The game released exclusively on PS4, where it remains to this day, despite overwhelming pleas to release an updated version on PS5 and PC.
One particular figure of interest in the game is The Doll, a mysterious porcelain construct residing in the Hunter’s Dream. In an interview, game director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared some fascinating insight on the creative process behind The Doll.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12, episode 6!
Larry David's arrest in Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 echoes a past incident in season 8 at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Buffet rules continue to spark trouble for Larry, as a spray-painting stunt leads to a ban and arrest in season 12. The show's history of buffet-related conflicts shows that trouble is guaranteed if there's a buffet in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Larry David gets arrested yet again in Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12, episode 6, with the backstory of his crime connecting to a bit from season 8. The fictional Larry has had quite a few troubles with the law throughout season 12, kicking off with his publicized arrest in the premiere for giving Ellia English’s Auntie Rae a water bottle in an Atlanta voting line. Though Larry’s second arrest of the season had somewhat similar altruistic reasoning behind it, his illegal actions stem...

Leon and Larry get banned from an all-you-can-eat restaurant and retaliate with spray paint. Larry finds a novel way to utilize bathroom time by memorizing the Gettysburg Address. Susie's billboard gets defaced with a giant penis, leading to increased sales for her business.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is saying goodbye in 2024, but Max has a great replacement in Hacks premiering its third season. Hacks, following Ava and Deborah in comedy, has already won more Emmys in 3 years than Curb Your Enthusiasm in 25. Both shows feature aging comedians on a career resurgence and share a general distaste for people, creating comedic moments.
Though HBO is saying goodbye to Curb Your Enthusiasm in April 2024, the streaming service Max already has a worthy replacement for the comedy show that will soon premiere its third season. After 25 years on HBO, Curb Your Enthusiasm is officially ending with season 12 this year, bringing Larry David’s revolutionary comedy show to what is shaping up to be a climactic end. From a total of 10 installments in the final season, Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 only has five episodes remaining before the curtain closes on HBO’s longest-running comedy series.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday.
This week’s question: In honor of “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” which effectively reboots Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium” saga, which current movie franchise should be put out of our misery once and for all?
Carlos Aguilar (Carlos_Film), The Wrap, Remezcla, MovieMaker Magazine
Cancelling the “Avatar” franchise before it even becomes one would be ideal, but we know that James Cameron’s arrogance won’t allow that to happen. Aside from their ridiculous alleged titles, the prospect of four more movies based on a virtually forgotten blockbuster from 2009 seems more like a director’s refusal to let go than something fans are eager to consume. Surely there are audiences out there that hold this sci-fi version of “Pocahontas” with blue aliens dearly (some might even rewatch their old DVD...

Horowitz and Kitsis come on board following the departure of original showrunner Bryan Fuller and executive producer Hart Hanson in February.

"They can't handle it when guys upgrade to a better model... and this, my friend, is a much better model." Gravitas Ventures has unveiled the first brief teaser trailer for the horror thriller film The Doll, starring the woman actually known as "The Human Barbie." The as-expected plot involves two guys ordering a model from an escort service, only to discover that Natasha is a possessed doll created by a mad doctor that only wants to kill. How original. Ukrainian model Valeria Lukyanova stars as "The Doll", making her feature debut as an actress after getting popular as "The Human Barbie" online. The rest of the film's cast includes Christopher Lenk, Anthony Del Negro, Don Scribner, Ron Jeremy, Mindy Robinson, and Lilian Lev. I don't know if it's just this trailer, but this looks pretty terrible. Really, nothing about this looks good. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Susannah O'Brien's The Doll,...

Valeria Lukyanova, aka 30-year-old Human Barbie, the Ukrainian model who has made it her life's ambition to mimic the famous toy from Mattel, is heading to a (select) theater near you in The Doll. The Doll is the first serious role for Lukyanova as the movie was presented at the Cannes Film Festival. We're basically looking at a naughty, taller version of Chucky from Child's Play and from what the trailer shows us, there's a twist, which is not a bad thing at all. We're looking at a new type of slasher movie, one where Ron Jeremy gets stabbed to death.
The Doll sees a possessed doll (Valeria Lukyanova) ruin the lives of two friends and the trailer shows us just how brutal, horrifying, and gloriously weird the movie looks. The official synopsis of the movie reads.
