The synopsis describes a movie I would be captivated by and enjoy watching instead of this movie.
I watched approximately 15 - 20 minutes before realising it was a waste of my time.

I did find this to be a decent watch. Heavenquest is a fantasy/action flick that has some decent cinematography and action sequences. It is however annoyingly chiche with its portrayals of good and evil, coming across very corny. The acting does not help this matter either. It does look good and does have enough fantasy based action to move this along. Some of the reviews on here say this is a Christian movie. That explains the one dimensional and ultra cheesy narrative. Whether that's true or not, I do not know. I thought Heavenquest was alright for the genre, but I doubt will be anyone's favorite movie of all time.

First of all, abusing the title of John Bunyan's book " A Pilgrim's Progress" doesn't make your movie great, doesn't make it look like it is the same story, and it definately is not alike that story.
Much in this movie is not Christian at all. Seems they prefer to please the world rather than bring a genuine Christian "fantasty" movie. A "fabled good king"? Meaning God?
The acting, the special effects, the story, it is all bad as can be. And much in this movie is more from the evil side than from the good side.
The only good work is the cinematography/camerawork. Some may see this as finally a "Christian fantasy" movie, but the last part is more present than the first one. Avoid it if you can.

Full of bible thumping nonsense. So disappointed that Christianity is still trying to damage races and culture and that people are allowing it. Money talks unfortunately.

This is a low budget movie. Yes, and I could hammer it for it's shortcomings, but I did think that it had some great moments too. A few bad ones, but some moments it felt like a big movie. So I liked it overall. I mean I like fantasy movies, and I am a Christian. Bad acting? Not like tons of other b movies. The guy that said bad acting is not correct. While some over acted a bit, sure, the main cast was pretty good albeit unknown.
The guy that gave it a 1 because it wasn't a Christian movie. Um, metaphors and allegories? Um, Jesus spoke in parables? It's about as plain as day in this movie.

First off, I know this is a low budget movie. Very low by Hollywood standards, but I was really impressed with the visuals, the solid acting, the muscial score was above its paygrade, and the message of redemption is something for everyone to hear.
Of course it has limitations and it's not Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, but for the budget $250K or so (I think I saw on social media) this is pretty remarkable. It seems impossible they pulled it off, honestly.
Hope to see more attempts like this. With faith-based films we get so many sports movies and dramas. At least these guys tried something totally ambitious and different. Kudos!

Great locations, costuming, and love the a very diverse cast. Pay attention Hollywood....
Yes, it has some issues, but it also has heart. Starts off a tad slow, but it's just a fun journey story that people of faith can relate to.
Music is really good too for a movie of this level. The girl who played Ezera was really amazing and the lead was really good as well.

This is a fantasy set on a world of Eos. There was once a king who united the whole world and people but then it turned dark, and divided into North and South. I haven't read the novels its based on, but was impressed by the scenery, costumes, storyline and much else. It wasn't a run of the mill fantasy, and it does make you think, and you have to rewatch it to grasp things. The only downside was that this movie didn't really explain what was going on half of the time, or what happened to the demons and the evil king.

I'm gonna give it a 9 just because people seem to be bashing what was obviously a low budget film, and some christians are hating on it because it's not like the original or somehow sacreligious. They tried to do something different with it.

I liked this movie but you have to know something about "Pilgrim's Progress" to fully appreciate the film. Yes, it's low-budget but if you are looking for a movie that your kids can watch that doesn't drop the f-bomb, this is an okay choice. The scenery is beautiful and costuming is pretty darn good for a low budget film. There were some direct references to Bunyan's tale which I liked. Some of the lines were not as strong as they could be, but some of the scenes were very powerful and worthy of some family conversations after the viewing. If you are expecting LOTR, don't. The stories aren't the same.

Big budget film makers forget that it should be about the story not the actors or effects. This is a highly enjoyable film

Great cinematography and storytelling! I loved the film even with the rough spots mentioned in the Behind the Scenes interview. You always figure out how to do it better afterward.
Engaging primary cast and directing! Mostly seamless storyline but lots more to tell. Great post- production makes the difference! A little more TLC makes this a 10!
Left me wanting to see more! I look forward to the rest of the story!

People, people. This was low budget film and yes it has some issues. Some bad moments, but honestly, it's better than some b-movies I've seen. Cinematography was pretty dang good and a few solid performances. It's not a 3.2 rating. That's pretty low. I mean 5/10 I can get behind, but I think people are really bashing this with 1s expecting some crazy GoT or LotR film.

An epic prequel to John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress", this movie is a work of art all to itself! Yes, the movie was made with a small budget... but it was ART nonetheless! The story of faith in a battle of good and evil... the characters...the allegory... the special effects... and the world-building! One of the best fantasy films ever made since Lord of the Rings!
Thank you Matt Blien so much for creating this masterpiece and looking forward to more to come!

I followed this movie before it ever came out. I was really chomping at the bit to see it. It surely didn't disappoint!

It was ok for a low budget film. Probably deserves a lower score if you compare it to bigger films, but I thought it was decent.

It tells a story, it follows a fantasy script, and it's got morals. What more can you ask for? Sure, it doesn't have the best special effects, but I'm more interested in a good story. I agree with the PG-13 rating, so SUPER young kids might be a little too scared of some moments.
I can only fault it for what I fault MOST fantasy stories for: we don't know too much about the characters. We only get the experience of being with the characters as we see the story. I don't have a deep feel for them in general. That doesn't make them less enjoyable for me though.
The acting isn't terrible, the scenes are beautiful, and the costumes are wonderful. Really, the costume folks deserve a big round of applause. You don't NEED a high budget film to enjoy yourself.
I'll also say this is wholly a Christian movie. It's a parallel to God's Kingdom and the final days of Revelation. It's wonderful to see a fantasy take on it. I love it!

A well-meaning effort to make our belief cool. I think this could have appealed to unbelievers just for the great acting, special effex, costumes, etc, but it was not the most well-thought out story line imo. I felt like the story & sometimes the dialogue didn't always come across the way it should have. It felt like it was missing elements, meandered a bit & didn't have a real purpose. For instance, I was bothered by the story line with his friend; I felt it was a bit abrupt the way they dropped him off the film in the middle of nowhere. I don't think I even saw him leave. I think they should have fleshed out the story of the evil king a bit more, it was a bit sketchy. If he's the villain, we should get to know what makes him tick & why he should be feared as a worthy opponent. Not just let him do a few tricks with magic. These are the things that can interrupt the flow of the movie imo.
Otherwise, I thought it did a pretty decent job I give it barely a 7 for originality.
