No seriously... the entire cast, crew and especially the writer/director should consider a different career...

We watch alot of horror films, cheesy ones and all but this movie was horrible from the first scene, couldn't even finish it

This movie actually gave me the chills a few times when it started.... Then they showed a rendering of the demon on the ceiling in the basement. I giggled then started to lose interest as the movie got dumber & dumber. They had it, but truly lost it FAST!

Way too dark, you can't see most of the movie. I was interested fefr the beginning. The acting was not too bad.

Great music from the start boded well for this, reminiscent of old style Jerry Goldsmith scores but this is all this film has going for it unfortunately.

The woeful acting from the very first scene did not give me much hope.

Story: well we have all seen it done to death a million times before and nothing new here sadly. Why if you are going to make a possession demon type movie cannot you come up with an inventive or interesting twist. Quite apart from this, most of the movie is filmed in darkness and you can hardly make out what is going on; I presume to hide the demon special effects/makeup!

It's like the people from Waiting for Guffman made an Exorcist rip-off. Crap.

You know that type of movie that's so bad that you can't stop looking at it? This is it. Just like a pug, they are so ugly that's cute. Yup this was it. My husband and I had a great time watching this, not because it the acting nor the plot but because we laughed all the way with the horrible effects, acting and plot. I don't know, so predictable and corny.

Movie is horrible but loved watching it, had a good laugh with it. I don't really know what to tell you. I am still short a few words and this is getting tedious, So I will just try to keep on writing until my word quota is up. Movie is so bad that's distractingly good. Not scary, just ridiculous and funny.

The acting is so bad, you find yourself rooting for the demon to actually win.

I did not understand why so much hate. I mean it is a brief and cheap movie with poor dialogues. The plot is indeed easy: a woman sold her daughter's soul for money, in order to save her husband's life. The woman was skeptical. What happended here is that this is not supposed to be the first horror movie a person watches. And why? Because it is a movie full of clichés and it does not takes itself seriously. For example, the character of the priest, is useless for the plot, it is sheer enterteinment. The mother laughs when she shouldn't and the young girl is stone cold. There are no remarkable characters is this one. This is a movie for those who had watched many horror movies but, now, they wonder: "do I really like horror?". Can I spend my whole carrer provoking the audience? Shooting movies that work as a question "are you really watching this?". Well, I sure can. Why not? Surely, "Another Soul" is sloppy in it's task to depict violence, in the end, for example, they insert the character of the deceased girl's father in the combat totally out of the blue. It was not meant to be funny, however sometimes it was. But it had a solid pace and it was a straighforward flick. Didn't you want tension, darkness and cry, well, it delivered. Funny fact, in the first time I watched, I was did not like it, I was with my head somewhere elsse. This time, I accidentally started watching it again. I was not utterly bothered by it. It was what I call "a 4AM horror movie".

It was an ok watch. The "mothers" acting was absolutely almost intolerable. I hate to smash someone but watching her acting was almost painful lol.

I created an account just to write this, never felt the need to write a review but after this movie I feel as though I need compensation from the director/writer as well as an apology for every single actor cast in this atrocity.

The actress that portrays Susan, shouldn't be allowed to act. This movie could have been good, but it just wasn't. Sub par plot, sub par dialogue, and sub par directing leave this movie much to be desired. Don't waste your time.

I am literally speechless or in this case wordless. What a complete load of crap. The acting was atrocious and the special effects were not special but cheesy. A red demon hahahahahahahahahaha!

Given my love of all things horror, of course I opted to watch the 2018 movie "Another Soul" when I had the opportunity to do so here in 2025. Sure, I had never heard about the movie, so I didn't know what I was in for, aside from it being a possession movie of sorts.

Writer and director Paul Chau put together a script and storyline that was fair. It wasn't a particularly scary movie, nor an overly memorable movie, even in the possession sub-genre of horror movies, but it was watchable enough for what it turned out to be.

I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. The acting performances in the movie were fair, but nothing outstanding.

Visually then I found "Another Soul" to actually be better than I had initially anticipated, given the movie's cover and title.

Watchable, sure, but "Another Soul" is hardly a horror movie that I would recommend for horror fans to rush out and get to watch. Will I ever return to watch "Another Soul" a second time? No.

My rating of writer and director Paul Chau's 2018 movie "Another Soul" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

The movie itself doesn't take it seriously which makes it more of a comedy then a horror, at a few scenes the background score makes it look horror but in the end it's just a comedy. The overly horror enthusiasts like myself might find it a let down but still it's enjoyable if we see it as a comic parody of a horror film. I would have loved it if the demon was explored more rather than just throwing it in to try to balance the movie's horror and comedy balance. In a scene when girl's father is like I will keep a watch on my house you feel something interesting and horrifying might happen but only to get disappointed when he falls asleep. The characters are not well written and you don't know much about their background thus it becomes a parody.

This is so unoriginal taking cliches from virtually every recent movie of its ilk, from Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Conjuring, etc. Everything is so obvious and blatant, like gags from Scary Movie or such, but they aren't gags, it's dead serious.

There's also no suspense or character development or a build up , just boom, hey I think our daughter is possessed so I'm going to watch her with video cameras. Which is probably creepier than anything in this movie.
