Clint Eastwood & Sergio Leone Connected Through Two Words On The Dollars Trilogy
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The year was 1963, and Clint Eastwood was tired of playing a Western hero. As Rowdy Yates on CBS' "Rawhide," he was stuck in a flavorless rut of white-hat derring-do, herding cattle and being an altogether swell guy while contending with stock genre villains. There was a future in this, yes, but it would require Eastwood to play the same note over and over until he became a lasso-wielding self-parody.

So, when he wrapped his fifth season of "Rawhide," he accepted an offer to make a big screen Western with a promising Italian director in Spain. That film was "A Fistful of Dollars," and all it did was launch the "Spaghetti Western" trend, which, along with the revisionist American works of Sam Peckinpah, extended the popularity of the genre for a solid decade.

"A Fistful of Dollars" was not, on the surface,...

Maren Ade Sets First Film Since Toni Erdmann with Magic Word
Image
With only three stellar features to her name in the last two-plus decades, The Forest for the Trees, Everyone Else, and Toni Erdmann, every new film from Maren Ade comes with much anticipation. While she’s also stayed busy producing no shortage of great work with Tabu, Arabian Nights, Western, In My Room, The Whistlers, Ahed’s Knee, Corsage, About Dry Grasses, and more, the German filmmaker is now working on her fourth feature.

In an interview with Screen Daily, Komplizen Film producer Janine Jackowski revealed Ade is scripting her next film Zauberwort (aka Magic Word), with plans to shoot in 2026, which means a festival premiere is still likely three years away. “[Ade] is writing very intensely. She is working very hard,” said Jackowski, though was tight-lipped about any other details on the project.

As for whether we’ll ever see that U.S. remake of Toni Erdmann, which at one...

The Only John Wayne & Roy Rogers Team-Up Was in This Western War Dramedy
Image
Before John Wayne became a staple name that we associate with Westerns, he was just Marion Robert Morrison, or to those close to him, his childhood moniker, Duke. It was the legendary director Raoul Walsh who spotted him as a prop man carrying furniture across soundstages who laid the ground for his fame. Handing him his first big lead role in the 1930 Western The Big Trail, Walsh would also be the one who gave him the iconic name John Wayne. It would be a decade before the two greats would collaborate again, this time on the unflinching, Oscar-nominated crime Western Dark Command. The movie is an adaptation of William Riley Burnett's 1938 novel of the same name. It is in Dark Command, which is partly inspired by a true story, that Wayne would team up with another fine talent of his generation, "the King of the Cowboys," singer, actor, radio,...

The Shining star and multi-award-winning actress Shelley Duvall has sadly passed away at the age of 75. Outside of Kubricks horror classic, Duvall was also known for her frequent collaborations with Robert Altman, which included the likes of McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Thieves Like Us, and Nashville.

Duvall died in her sleep at her home in Blanco, Texas following complications from diabetes. Her long-time partner, musician and former Breakfast Club lead vocalist Dan Gilroy, released a short statement to The Hollywood Reporter following her passing,...

Discovery Shareholders Win $125M Settlement Of Lawsuit Alleging AT&T Merger “Wasn’t Entirely Fair” To Most Investors
Image
Warner Bros. Discovery, which was formed in 2022 from the merger of AT&T’s WarnerMedia and Discovery Communications, has agreed to pay $125 million to settle a shareholder lawsuit over the deal.

A handful of pension funds filed suit in Delaware Chancery Court after the $43 billion merger closed, alleging that the transaction unfairly benefited top-tier investors at Discovery at the expense of everyday investors. On Friday, the court released a document detailing the settlement, which had been agreed to in May at the recommendation of a mediator.

Once Delaware Chancery Judge Travis Laster approves the agreement, holders of Discovery stock prior to the merger closing date in April 2022 will be eligible to receive funds from the settlement.

Defendants in the suit included a set of former Discovery backers, including the Advance/Newhouse Partnership and Robert Miron; his son, Steven Miron; and Susan Swain. All are former members of Discovery’s board of directors.

One of the Scariest Anime Ever Influenced Aronofsky’s ‘Requiem for a Dream'
Image
Every filmmaker has influences that shape their respective body of work; George Lucas, for example, crafted Star Wars: A New Hope based on his love of Flash Gordon (as well as the fact that he couldn't actually get the rights to Flash Gordon.) But what about the filmmakers who become major influences themselves, like Akira Kurosawa or Satoshi Kon? While Kurosawa's impact on film — particularly the space opera and the Spaghetti Western — is common knowledge, Kon's body of work more than deserves a mention, especially when it comes to its impact on modern-day filmmakers. One of those filmmakers is Darren Aronofsky, who said that Kon's Perfect Blue inspired his work on Requiem for a Dream.

‘Rust’ First Photos Show Late Dp Halyna Hutchins’ Visual Aesthetic On Alec Baldwin Western
Image
Exclusive: The first images from writer-director Joel Souza’s Western Rust starring Alec Baldwin have emerged. Deadline has the first look.

Late cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ visual style can be seen in two of the photos: the one of actress Frances Fisher in the doorway, and one of the lone rider to the right of the screen.

See the first-look photos below.

The other three photographs are the work of Dp Bianca Cline, who took over for Hutchins when the production resumed in April 2023 at the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana. The restart came 18 months after Hutchins was killed by a bullet from a prop gun held by Baldwin that discharged during rehearsals on Rust‘s New Mexico set.

Rust is based on a story developed by Souza and Baldwin: A 13-year-old boy, left to fend for himself and his younger brother following the death of their parents in 1880s Kansas,...

Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.

Lainey Wilson won Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May, and she’s the likely victor in this category. But there are so many strong albums making an impact, it’s hard to say — and the field may be even more crowded. Both Buzz Brainard,...

10 Best Spaghetti Westerns That Don't Star Clint Eastwood
Image
Clint Eastwood may be the most famous actor associated with Spaghetti Westerns, but there are many great films in the subgenre that don't feature him. Directors like Sergio Sollima and Gianfranco Parolini have made noteworthy contributions to the Spaghetti Western subgenre with their films Face to Face and ...If You Meet Sartana Pray For Your Death. Lee Van Cleef's work in Westerns extends beyond his roles alongside Clint Eastwood, as demonstrated in Death Rides A Horse and Day of Anger.

Clint Eastwood starred in the three most famous Spaghetti Westerns, yet some of the best movies in the subgenre didn't even feature the actor or his iconic Man With No Name character. Having origins as far back as the advent of filmmaking in Europe, the term Spaghetti Western refers to the slew of action films dramatizing the American West coming out of Italy, most notably from famed director Sergio Leone.

The Best Spaghetti Westerns That Aren't The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Image
There are many diverse movie genres that uniquely resonate with audiences, but cinema's spaghetti Western subgenre has remained a niche fascination to mainstream crowds. Spaghetti Westerns first found popularity during the '60s as a colloquial term for the growing number of Westerns that were being made by Italian filmmakers.

The spaghetti Western has become an increasingly broad brand over time. Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, the culmination to his gripping “The Man With No Name” Trilogy, is frequently viewed as peak spaghetti western content. However, there are many more worthwhile westerns that curious audiences need to check out.

Kevin Costner’s Epic Western ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Will Be On Sale For International Buyers At AFM
Image
Exclusive: A surprise project has emerged to whet the appetites of hungry international buyers at next week’s American Film Market: Kevin Costner’s big-budget Warner Bros Western Horizon: An American Saga.

The two-part project is being sold to international buyers by recently rebooted German-based sales firm K5 International.

Chapters 1 and 2 of Horizon have been set by New Line to open domestically in cinemas on June 28, 2024, and August 16, 2024, respectively. That strong theatrical commitment is something that will appeal to international buyers, and some we’ve spoken with are already enthused about getting a sighter at a big-budget movie from an Oscar winner like Costner, even if prices are inevitably high.

We hear that Costner himself will likely take a view on offers in major territories, which isn’t unusual for an A-list director-producer working on a passion project, especially given that he has reportedly put a chunk of his own money into it.

Western Movies on Tubi in October 2023
Image
The sun is setting on Summer. As October brings in waves of ghouls and goblins and other nefarious creatures, some may find themselves longing for a return to the scorching heat of the Wild West. That's not to suggest that the Western genre doesn't have its own share of frightening concepts. Ragged gunmen robbing banks, monstrous animals roaming the countryside, and even the harsh climate itself all amount to a terrifying time. Wouldn't it be great to vicariously experience the horrors of the American frontier through a free-to-use streaming service? Maybe Tubi, for instance?

Granted, Tubi's upcoming Western films don't exactly elicit the same kind of fear response found in your typical horror movie. That doesn't mean that they're worth ignoring, however. From newer titles to some returning classics, Tubi's Westerns for October 2023 are sure to remind you of just how dangerous the frontier was as we enter cooler weather.

‘Gasoline Rainbow’ Review: The Ross Brothers’ Teen Road Movie Is a Pleasurable Ride
Image
Arguably the most accomplished and enjoyable film so far for filmmaking brothers Bill and Turner Ross (the siblings behind Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets and Western), Gasoline Rainbow pays homage to all the road movies that ever were but is still its own quirky thing, uniquely of its time.

Five photogenic but regular-looking non-professional teens star as people much like themselves, i.e. kids just out of high school, who decide on a whim one night to drive 500 miles west toward the Pacific, away from the small podunk Oregon town they grew up in. Some of the friends they make along the way aren’t entirely nice, but our heroes bounce back, party on and peace out with the blithe insouciance only the young can get away with. As such, this jaunty work will appeal to viewers from the same demographic as well as those who love freewheeling low-budget cinema and...

Kevin Costner Denies Having Extramarital Affair, Estranged Wife Claims He’s Being ‘Evasive’ About Finances
Image
Kevin Costner‘s estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, has requested that the court force the star to produce “all statements, receipts, invoices, canceled checks (front and back) and other documents … relating to any extramarital romantic relationships” as part of her quest to dig into the actor’s finances amid their contentious divorce battle.

In legal documents filed Monday in Santa Barbara County Superior Court and obtained by Et, Baumgartner, 49, attached exhibits showing her list of demands and, among them, financial documents reflecting expenses paid for by Costner, “or any person at your request or on your behalf, relating to any extramarital romantic relationships.” She’s requesting that the court now force Costner to produce these documents.

Regarding this request, Costner, 68, has maintained he “has no responsive documents for ‘extramarital romantic relationships’ in which he engaged because he engaged in none.” Furthermore, Costner has also asserted he “does not know for a...

Before He Played Dracula In Renfield, Nicolas Cage Went Wild With Vampire's Kiss
Image
It may have taken Nic Cage over 40 years to play Dracula in "Renfield," but he previously donned fangs for one of his most out-there performances in "Vampire's Kiss."

It's kind of surprising that it's taken this long for Nicolas Cage to play Count Dracula. If any actor was born to play the most famous vampire on the planet then surely it was our generation's most unpredictable screen legend. Now he's getting his chance in the comedy "Renfield," where he stars alongside Nicholas Hoult, who plays Dracula's beleaguered goon in the midst of an identity crisis. Cage has always expressed interest in vampire lore. He produced the 2000 film "Shadow of the Vampire," a fictionalized version of the making of "Nosferatu" that imagines what would have happened if an actual vampire had been among the cast. Mostly, however, his highly specific strain of acting has been saved for playing mere mortals. There...

Sarah Polley’s Oscar for her Women Talking script has not actually been rescinded by the Film Academy, despite her 11-year-old child’s valiant April Fools’ Day effort to suggest otherwise.

The prank involved a typed-out message stating that Polley must send back the trophy in order for it to be given to the team behind Netflix’s All Quiet on the Western Front, who were the actual winners, according to the note. Jessica Simpson’s ‘Open Book’ Pilot Not Moving Forward at Amazon Freevee
Image
The scripted pilot based on Jessica Simpson’s bestselling memoir “Open Book” is not moving forward at Amazon Freevee, Variety has confirmed. Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s period comedy “Western” has also been scrapped, though both potential series are now being shopped elsewhere.

The pilot for “Open Book” was ordered by Amazon Freevee back in October, with Tom Kapinos set to write and executive produce and Adam Bernstein on board as a director and executive producer. Katelyn Tarver would play Sadie Sparrow, a young singer based on Simpson, while John Stamos was cast as her older songwriter, Butch. Over time, the two would develop a connection that went beyond music.

Simpson was set to executive produce the project, along with Patrick Moran for his Pkm Productions and Amazon Studios. Lauren Auslander and Lacy Lynch were also on board as executive producers.

Meanwhile, Lord and Miller’s “Western” was set...

Yellowstone’s Ending Could Break The Show's Biggest Rule
Image
With Yellowstone season 5 reportedly serving as the final chapter of Taylor Sheridan's keystone Neo-Western, one possible setup for the finale breaks the show's biggest rules. Yellowstone has risen to become the most-watched Neo-Western series of the century. As the story of the Duttons approaches its natural ending, the show's penchant for twists could be what finally silences Yellowstone and Sheridan's harshest critics.

In Yellowstone, there's only one twist that has the potential to accomplish all this: Governor John Dutton's conservation easement plan for the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch actually getting executed. As explained on Yellowstone, a conservation easement is an agreement that allows landowners to voluntarily give the state complete control over their property. In Montana, conservation easements have been historically "effective in maintaining natural resources which are compatible with existing land uses." Aimed at preserving the state's valuable natural resources, "a conservation easement is the formal expression...

‘Dune’ Production Designer Patrice Vermette Pays Tribute To Late Jean-Marc Vallée In Oscar Speech
Image
Production designer Patrice Vermette and set decorator Zsuzsanna Sipos took home statuettes for their work on Dune at the Academy Awards on Sunday, with Vermette paying “special” tribute to his “friend” Jean-Marc Vallée—the Canadian filmmaker behind Big Little Lies, Dallas Buyers Club and more, who died suddenly in December, aged 58.

Vermette also thanked director Denis Villeneuve “for allowing us to dream” and “for being a great friend,” saying, “I owe this to you.”

“I’m such a crybaby, I’m sorry,” added Sipos. “It means an awful lot and I just want to thank my team and everyone who participated, and for the opportunity.”

Oscars Winners List – Updating Live

Both Vermette and Sipos are first-time winners, though the former had previously been nominated for his work on the films The Young Victoria and Arrival. The pair bested the teams behind Guillermo del Toro’s carnival noir Nightmare Alley (production designer: Tamara Deverell,...

‘Succession’ just became the third TV drama to sweep the 4 major guilds
Image
“Succession” has done what only two dramas before it have done: successfully sweep the top four guilds in the same calendar year.

The road to the history books started in late February when “Succession,” which follows the messy and complicated Roy family led by patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox), took home the Screen Actors Guild Award for drama ensemble on its first nomination. It quickly followed that up with the Directors Guild of America Award for dramatic series directing, which went to Mark Mylod (who is also an executive producer on the show) for helming the game-changing Season 3 finale, “All the Bells Say.” Of course, “Succession” was always going home a winner at the latter since the series swept the nominations, earning five bids in a historic first for the DGA.

This weekend, the Jesse Armstrong-created series completed its sweep of the four major guilds when it picked up...

Jane Campion Wins Oscar-Predicting Best Feature At DGA, Tells Chloé Zhao “I Am So Proud Of You”
Image
Jane Campion scooped the top prize of the night at the DGA Awards on Saturday — the Theatrical Feature Film award — for her Western The Power of the Dog.

This honor at DGA is historically the biggest predictor of who will win Best Director at Oscar, so Campion should get ready for more possible directing gold in two weeks’ time.

DGA Awards 2022: Deadline’s Full Coverage

In fact, since 1948, the winner of this award has won the Best Director Oscar every year, with only eight exceptions.

“I’m so really moved and honored by this voting for me,” Campion said in her acceptance speech, before thanking “my teacher, the master, Paul Thomas Anderson” — who also was DGA-nominated for Licorice Pizza.

Presenting her with the award was Chloé Zhao, who took home this same award last year for Nomadland, which predictably won her Best Director at the Academy Awards — and Best Picture too.

Outer Range (2022)
Josh Brolin Prays Over Mysterious Troubles in Trailer for Prime Western ‘Outer Range’ (Video)
Outer Range (2022)
Prime Video announced on Wednesday that its western thriller series “Outer Range,” starring Josh Brolin, will premiere April 15 on Prime Video with a two-episode premiere.

In the official teaser trailer, which dropped on Wednesday, Brolin’s Wyoming rancher Royal Abbott says a highly unusual prayer at the dinner table: “Dear God … we ask that you show us the way here, because we’re in trouble. You made this crazy world, so maybe you can give us some sort of hint as to what you’re up to. Because I don’t have the first f—ing clue.”

The trailer, which brings the western setting of “Yellowstone” and the freaky “what the hell is happening?” vibe from “Yellowjackets,” shows glimpses of strange symbols, blood, a police chase, a dead bear and Lili Taylor seemingly communicating with an unseen entity, ends with Brolin screaming, “There is a great void!”

The series begins...

Michael Jackson Dies: Kabc Host, Radio Hall Of Fame Inductee Was 87
Image
Michael Jackson, the Los Angeles talk radio personality who spent 32 years at Kabc Radio and was syndicated on the ABC Radio Network for nearly a decade, died peacefully today at his LA home after a decade-long battle with Parkinson’s disease, a family spokesperson tells Deadline. He was 87.

“The world knew and adored our Michael Jackson. But Michael’s home was California, Los Angeles, America,” said Jackson’s frequent radio guest, former California Senator Barbara Boxer in a statement. “For that we are grateful.”

During Jackson’s time at Kabc between 1966 and 1998, he interviewed hundreds of public figures including Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, along with Heads of State, governors, senators, A-List film and TV stars, authors, musicians, singers and artists.

“It was a testament to Michael, that so many of the guests and celebrities preferred to actually come in studio,...

Benedict Cumberbatch Teases Wes Anderson Team-Up & Next ‘Doctor Strange’ Film After Earning Seventh SAG Award Nom For ‘The Power Of The Dog’
Image
After landing a SAG Award nomination this morning for his work in Jane Campion’s Netflix Western The Power of the Dog, Benedict Cumberbatch spoke with Deadline about his recently-announced, first collaboration with Wes Anderson on a Netflix adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, as well as the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Cumberbatch, who is playing the title character in Anderson’s latest, said he is “over the moon” about the opportunity to work with the filmmaker, with production set to start soon, and also “a little bit nervous” as he is before every job. “[Anderson’s] greatness is a fact. He’s wonderful. What a rewarding director for audiences, for actors—the style, the work, the aesthetic, and also the heart and soul of him,” he opined. “It’s a marvelous time and a very different experience I imagine from working with Jane,...

Hollywood Flashback: In 1960, Woody Strode Took on the West in John Ford’s ‘Sergeant Rutledge’
Image
The Harder They Fall, the Black Western in theaters now and on Netflix on Nov. 3, owes a tip of the Stetson to Woody Strode, one of the NFL’s first Black players (he signed briefly with the Los Angeles Rams in 1946), who later found a niche playing strong, silent types in Westerns.

Part African American and part Native American, Strode’s first big break was in 1960’s Spartacus, as the Ethiopian gladiator whose death sparks a rebellion. It was on the set of 1959’s Pork Chop Hill, a Korean War film, that Strode met John Ford (though Ford was ...

Netflix's The Chair Premiere: Grade It!
Image
Sandra Oh’s Ji-Yoon Kim makes academic history in Netflix’s The Chair premiere — but her achievement comes with some serious drawbacks, too.

In the six-episode comedy that dropped in full on Friday, Oh stars as the first female and woman of color to serve as chair of the English department at the fictional Pembroke University. In the series premiere, though, she doesn’t get much time to bask in that milestone; in fact, her actual office chair breaks and collapses about three seconds into her first day on the job, which, in hindsight, she should have taken as some sort of omen.

Documentary+ To Share Viewership Data With Filmmakers; First Streamer To Reveal Ratings?
Image
Exclusive: Documentary+, the non-fiction streaming service established by studio Xtr, is to share viewership data with its filmmakers, potentially becoming the first digital platform to reveal ratings.

The move is an interesting one given the often nebulous data put out by many of the more established streamers. Netflix has started to release some data for hit titles over their first 28 days, but generally only if they do particularly or surprisingly well, while many of the others release vague statements of success.

Alongside the news that it will share data with its filmmakers, the service revealed that between January and May, its top performing title on the service was Western, a documentary about life at the border of Mexico and Texas directed by Bill Ross IV and Turner Ross, followed by Cartel Land and The Imposter.

It will give filmmakers information including a gender identity breakdown, age range, which platform, such as Roku,...

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Nab Rare Double Oscar Noms To Pace Strong Field For Original Score
Image
This morning, in a rare feat, composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross pulled a pair of Original Score nominations for Soul and Mank.

Throughout film history, we’ve often seen a single composer earn two Academy Award nominations for different films, in the same year. The most recent to do so was Alexandre Desplat, who was nominated in 2014 for both The Imitation Game and The Grand Budapest Hotel. (Desplat won for the latter film).

But composer duos are another thing altogether.

While Edward Plumb and Paul Smith earned two Score noms way back in 1943, for the films Saludos Amigos and Victory Through Air Power, those came in the separate categories of Music Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture, and Scoring of a Musical Picture.

In the modern era, where Score is condensed into one category, only Reznor and Ross have been nominated as a duo for two separate films,...

Liam Neeson’s ‘The Marksman’ Holds No.1 With $2 Million In Its Second Week; ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Nears $150 Million Globally; And Bond Postponement Leads To More Date-Shuffling
Liam Neeson
In another sluggish session at the domestic box office, Liam Neeson once again proved to be Mr. Reliable by holding onto the top spot for the second straight weekend with his latest outing, The Marksman. The PG-13-rated border thriller from indie studio Open Road Films put $2 million into its crosshairs, edging out a soft field still reeling from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Receipts for the latest Neeson vehicle, which stars the 68-year-old action hero as a rancher who comes to aid of a Mexican boy being hunted by a drug cartel, fell off -34.6% from the previous weekend, earning a $1,005 per-screen average in 2,018 theaters. After two weekends in theaters, The Marksman is tracking very closely with Open Road’s last Neeson headliner, Honest Thief, which also held the top spot for two consecutive weeks back in October on its way to grossing $14.2 million during its domestic run. To date, The Marksman...

Netflix’s Beloved New Series Is On Its Way To Making History
Image
For non-fans or players, chess has never exactly been considered the most exciting thing in the world, which only makes it all the more impressive that The Queen’s Gambit continues to dominate Netflix‘s most-watched list. Hollywood had been trying to get an adaptation of Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel off the ground for years, of course, and over a decade ago, Ellen Page was set to play the lead role of Beth Harmon with Heath Ledger making his directorial debut before the actor’s untimely passing.

Fast forward to 2020, and the project was brought to the screen by Scott Frank, who has plenty of experience developing a fantastic miniseries for Netflix given the widespread acclaim that greeted his eight-episode Western Godless back in 2018. Frank created and executive produced The Queen’s Gambit as well as writing and directing every installment, and based on the reaction so far, the riveting drama looks set...

Viggo Mortensen, Chiara Mastroianni, Maria de Medeiros Set for Lisandro Alonso’s ‘Eureka’ (Exclusive)
Image
Following his star turn in “Jauja,” a major hit at the 2014 Cannes Festival, Viggo Mortensen will re-team with Argentine director Lisandro Alonso on “Eureka,” one of the boldest upcoming art films from Latin America.

Mortensen, who takes the lead role in “Eureka’s” first part, will be joined by France’s Chiara Mastroianni, a Cesar Award best actress nominee this year for “On a Magical Night,” and Portugal’s Maria de Medeiros (“Pulp Fiction”).

In a nod towards “Jauja,” Mortensen once more takes the role of a father, here Murphy, searching for a daughter, again played by Denmark’s Viilbjørk Malling Agger, who has been kidnapped in “Eureka” by an outlaw, Randall. Despite the actors reprising similar roles, the film is not a sequel.

In addition, the setting for Part 1 of “Eureka,” entitled “Western,” is no longer Argentina’s Patagonia but a lawless township in 1870 on the U.S.-Mexico border,...
