VMAs professional categories: Who will win MTV Video Music Awards for direction, editing, cinematography and more
Image
The technical categories at the VMAs are often some of the most interesting and hardest to predict. Unlike the main categories, these are not voted on by the general public, but by special juries of music insiders. Let’s take a look at which videos could grab one or two Moon Persons on September 12.

SEEWho’s hosting the 2021 VMAs? Doja Cat gets the coveted gig Best Art Direction

This category seems to favor visually busy music videos with a lot going on. So I would say that, unless Lil Nas X sweeps all his technical nominations for “Montero (Call Me by Your Name),” “911” by Lady Gaga or “Best Friend” by Saweetie and Doja Cat seem to more closely resemble past winners. I will give “Best Friend” the edge just based on how creative that video is, but any of the three mentioned shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Best...

Teyana Taylor Has the Most Epic Reaction to Being Maxim's "Sexiest Woman Alive"
Teyana Taylor
Teyana Taylor is probably the only person on the planet who is shocked by her new role. The star of E!'s new reality series We Got Love Teyana & Iman first turned heads choreographing and dancing in Kanye West's iconic hit "Fade" music video, but the multi-hyphenate talent has been working behind the scenes for over a decade in the music industry. Teyana and NBA player husband Iman Shumpert are parents to two daughters, and We Got Love is expected to "give an unfiltered behind-the-scenes look at their lives juggling music, fashion, business and family" according to a press release.  As for her new title as Maxim's Sexiest Woman Alive for the annual Hot 100...

The Mandalorian Season 2 Finale Leaks Hint at Mace Windu's Return?
Image
With The Mandalorian Season 2 merely hours away, fans have been firing on all cylinders and coming up with possible theories while actively speculating about the implications of the smallest details Disney has let slip. But there are two major leaks that can turn tomorrow's finale on its head as they predict mammoth revelations for the episode- the return of the revered Jedi Master, Mace Windu, and the scary possibility of a character's death.

Is Mace Windu alive? We last saw Mace Windu when he was betrayed by Anakin Skywalker who chopped off his right hand, allowing Darth Sidious to use Force lightning to send the greatest champion of the Jedi plummeting to his apparent death. But ever since Boba Fett appeared on The Mandalorian (having survived being accidentally pitched into the Sarlacc pit) and amidst the growing possibility of a Jedi showing up in Season 2 finale to save the day,...

If you were confused by the end of Kanye West's leaked music video for "Feel Me," featuring Tyga, look no further.  Director Eli Russell Linnetz, who directed the video as well as Kanye's "Famous" and "Fade" videos, exclusively told E! Uncork’d has picked up US, Canadian and Mexican rights to Embryo, the sci-fi horror thriller from Chilean genre specialist and Hidden In The Woods director Patricio Valladares.

Valladares and regular collaborator Barry Keating co-wrote the screenplay about Kevin and Evelyn, a couple camping in the woods whose trip takes a turn for the worse when the woman is abducted and impregnated by aliens.

Ty Dolla $ign, Kanye West Pay Tribute to Classic House Music on ‘Ego Death’
Image
Ty Dolla $ign borrows from classic house music on his new single “Ego Death,” which was created with help from Kanye West, Fka Twigs, Skrillex, and serpentwithfeet.

“Ego Death” references Ralphi Rosario’s club single “You Used to Hold Me,” which included a brassy vocal turn from singer Xaviera Gold, and nods to Ultra Naté’s “Free,” a Nineties juggernaut that still lights up dance floors today. Ty Dolla $ign sings blunt, bruised lines — “It hurt my ego when you walked away/Gave me your all, that wouldn’t make me stay” — over a terse,...

Teyana Taylor’s ‘The Album’ Soars and Sags
Image
Mention Teyana Taylor’s name, and it evokes kinetic experiences: aerobicized thrusts in Kanye West’s “Fade” clip, melting alongside Kehlani in a “Morning” homage to the 1998 camp-classic Wild Things, casually flexing in Jay-Z’s video for “Blue Magic.” As a dancer and model – she launched her career in her teens by choreographing Beyoncé’s “Ring the Alarm” video – Taylor leaves a visual imprint as distinct as anything by Rihanna, Ciara and other doyennes of black pop.

But as a musician, Teyana’s path has been less assured. An early...

Song Lyrics of 'Turks' by Nav and Gunna ft. Travis Scott
Robert Englund and Jason London in Nightworld (2017)
Wheezy outta here

I'm a late bloomer, third year on the scene

Twenty racks don't feel like?nothing to me

Came from?the streets, it turned me to?a beast

Invisible set, diamonds huggin' my piece

Book me for a show, I need eighty at least

I want the smoke, ain't no keeping the peace

Keep me a razor when I'm in the East

Open 'em up just like a surgery

Everything burning around me, I'm lit

Show a lil' attitude, swap out the bitch

I spent two-fifty, don't know where it went

My hood on my back, I gotta represent

Toronto, you useless, you don't got a pole

Warm that boy up, he got shot in the cold

Thirty rounds in the clip, let it unload

I f**k the b***h I picked right out of Vogue

Took twenty b***hes on my first vacay

I ain't pickin' up,...

Robert Englund Reveals His Awesome Idea For A Nightmare On Elm Street 3
Cinema history is filled with tantalizing ‘what ifs,’ ranging from the weird to the fascinating. What if Kubrick had been able to make his epic Napoleon? What if Bill Murray had been cast as Batman in the 1989 film? What would David Lynch’s Return of the Jedi have looked like? Now, we can chalk another one up on the board, because in an interview with Cinema Blend, Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund, revealed that he lobbied to make A Nightmare on Elm Street 3.

Elm Street scholars will of course know that the third film in the franchise is Dream Warriors. Set in a mental hospital, we find ‘final girl’ Nancy Thompson training her patients to control their dreams in order to combat Freddy. Needless to say, it doesn’t end well for most of them (I seem to remember Freddy injecting one person with a buttload of heroin).

Englund says...

Former Nightmare On Elm Street Actor Robert Englund Tips Kevin Bacon For Reboot
You can go ahead and add Freddy Krueger’s name to the ever-growing list of horror icons poised for a return.

With Michael Myers and John Kramer (Aka the Jigsaw Killer) bound for the silver screen once more – Halloween in 2018; Jigsaw late next month – Warner Bros. and New Line are plotting a new incarnation of A Nightmare On Elm Street, with David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2) on script duties.

Aside from some surprising story trinkets that emerged last month, both studios have maintained a radio silence when it comes to the mooted reboot, though if the Powers That Be were to place Robert Englund in control of casting, the series stalwart would name Kevin Bacon as a potential candidate to play the mutilated Freddy.

Word comes by way of Cinema Blend, after the outlet caught up with Englund to discuss his involvement in Nightworld, a psychological thriller currently incubating in post.

Shortly after taking on the job, he starts to experience unexplained events and as he begins a deep dive into the history of the building, it quickly becomes apparent that something sinister is afloat. Robert Englund in Official Trailer for Horror Thriller Film 'Nightworld'
"What do you keep back there, King Kong?" Gravitas Ventures has unveiled a trailer for an indie horror thriller film titled Nightworld, from Chilean director Patricio Valladares. The story follows a former Lapd officer who gets a night security job at an old apartment building in Bulgaria's capital, Sofia. Frightfest 2017: ‘Nightworld’ Review
Stars: Jason London, Lorina Kamburova, Robert Englund, Gianni Capaldi, Diana Lyubenova | Written by Loris Curci, Dimitar Hristov, Barry Keating, Milan Konjevic | Directed by Patricio Valadares

As the camera swoops over a chilly boreal wilderness, and Luc Suarez’s brooding music evokes an air of intrigue and menace, it seems like we’re onto a winner. And look, there’s Robert Englund in the credits! That’s a sign of quality, right?

Jason London plays Brett Anderson – an ex-cop rather than an ex-Suede frontman – who is having nightmares about his dead wife, Ana (Diana Lyubenova). So naturally he moves to the Bulgarian capital Sofia and becomes a security camera operative in a creepy basement. A man named Martin (Gianni Capaldi) runs the building on behalf of a shadowy organisation. Brett is kept in the dark about what the organisation actually does – and also about what might be skulking in the giant...

Nightworld Trailer Has Robert Englund Fighting Scary Supernatural Forces
Robert Englund and Jason London in Nightworld (2017)
Robert Englund is a living legend known for portraying Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series. While he'll likely never return to that role, he hasn't given up his passion for acting. And in the horror world, a new Robert Englund movie is a cause for celebration, even if it's a low budget schlock fest that goes straight to VOD. But it actually looks like a scary movie that will have horror fans excited all over again.

Robert Englund stars in Nightworld, which has the iconic actor fighting off a malevolent force while coming face to face with a very dark afterworld.
