When Gene Roddenberry was offered the chance to bring his universe back to television in 1986, conventional wisdom suggested the show was doomed to fail. However, Star Trek: The Next Generation surpassed Star Trek: The Original Series in ratings, number of seasons and, in the hearts of some fans, is the superior show. Just like The Original Series, nearly 40 years after it debuted, there are a number of The Next Generation episodes that are controversial and wouldn't play well if released today.
To be clear, Star Trek was always "woke," but each series was also a product of its time. While there was diversity, equity and inclusion in front of the camera, the same could not be said for behind it. While The Next Generation storytellers intended to tell inclusive, progressive stories, sometimes they failed. Other episodes were quite daring for their time, with actual societal progress revealing their limitations. In many cases,...

Harley Quinn creator Justin Halpern confirmed that they initially created an original supervillain for the hit adult-animated DC series. This comes ahead of the show's upcoming fifth season, which is expected to premiere sometime in November.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Halpern opened up about their scrapped plans to debut an original character called Brownstone in the Harley Quinn series. He revealed that Brownstone would have first been introduced as a superhero, who later became a supervillain due to an embarrassing moment. "We had also created our own superhero that we wanted to have, [a] supervillain that we wanted to have in our crew, who was named Brownstone," he explained. "But everyone called him Brown Stain because during a high profile rescue as a hero, he sh-t his pants on live TV. And so everyone called him Brown Stain, and then that's what turned him into a villain, because he was so upset at that.

Warning: Spoilers for Wonder Woman #13Of all the Justice League's heroes, I've always been particularly fond of Plastic Man and Elongated Man due to the zaniness of their powers. Their rubber-like abilities appear identical on the surface, but they have plenty of differences, and that has never been more apparent than now. Plastic Man just unveiled a surprisingly dark side effect of his powers that will forever change the way I see this Justice League icon.
In Wonder Woman #13 by Tom King, Tony S. Daniels, Leonardo Paciarotti, and Clayton Cowles, Wonder Woman and Robin team up with Steve Trevor to infiltrate Amanda Waller's prison to free the depowered superheroes she's imprisoned there. Among the heroes they break out are Plastic Man and Elongated Man, both of whom have lost their stretchy powers after the events of Absolute Power. At first, One Piece comes off as a very lighthearted show about pirates. However, it has always been a story featuring themes of inequality and oppression. Even the East Blue Saga featured the seeds of these ideas. Shells Town was about marine corruption and what they were willing to overlook. The Arlong Park arc is not only a direct parallel to Sabaody Archipelago, but also the result of how the world treats Fish-Men.
The greater world building when it comes to these themes has been slowly established across the series, but now more than ever it is in full force. Joy Boy and Nika are symbols of freedom because so many in the world of One Piece have been denied their freedom. Luffy's role in inheriting that will and dream puts him in conflict with the World Government, who are the biggest source of oppression in the series. It's...

Born to one of the most influential figures in Hollywood, Jaden Smith had the privilege of exploring various career paths, from acting to music. And he did make notable strides in films like The Pursuit of Happyness and The Karate Kid and subsequently released three studio albums.

However, his acting career seems to have taken a back seat, with his last major film role in 2020. Despite his absence from notable on-screen roles in recent years, the 2018 teen drama, Skate Kitchen, where he starred alongside a real-life skater group, highlights why Smith should consider reigniting his acting career.

In Mark Waids fan-favorite Worlds Finest series, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman come together for their first official mission, revealing the origin story of the Justice Leagues Trinity. This team-up not only showcases the moment the Trinity bonded but also hints at the true meaning behind the formation of the Justice League.
In Batman/Superman: Worlds Finest #30, Mark Waid and Gleb Melnikov bring Batman, Superman, and Dick Graysons Robin to Themyscira to assist Wonder Woman in solving the murder of one of her fellow Amazons. While Diana has made earlier appearances in the series, this is her first time taking center stage as a main character. Fans have enjoyed the whimsical adventures of Bruce, Clark, and Dick, but Dianas presence adds a new layer of excitement and depth to their dynamic. Its clear that Wonder Womans role will likely extend beyond this issue, suggesting she may become a more permanent addition to the ongoing storylines.

Ever since the Titans took the Justice League's place as the premier superhero team of the DC Universe, they've had big shoes to fill. Now, when they're needed most, the Titans have finally proven to the hero community that they're a better team than the Justice League.
In Absolute Power #2 by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, the superheroes of the Dcu have had their powers drained by Amanda Waller's Task Force VII, and things have never been more dire for the hero community. While the former Justice League heroes struggle to unite against the threat they face, the Titans form a united front as a team, stepping up to lead their fellow heroes through the dark times they've found themselves in. With the Justice League fractured, the Titans have shown that they have what it takes to be DC's main super-team.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Justice Society of America #11!Batman and Catwoman's daughter from the future, Huntress, finally gets a happy ending - in the Justice Society of America of the 31st century. The beauty of DC Comics is how it gives space to the by-products of all its shifting timelines and continuity changes. Even characters that have been retconned come back in spectacular ways, and characters that technically never have (or should) exist get their time to shine.
This is just the case with the time-displaced Helena Wayne. Time is a major theme in Justice Society of America, especially in issue #11 by Geoff Johns and Marco Santucci, with characters jumping back in time, or from broken timelines, or even hopping around trying to find a place to land where they won't be erased from continuity. In the penultimate issue of this celebrated series, time-jumper Helena Wayne finally finds a place to land.

For all the varying universes with shared continuity, the DC Animated Universe remains the peak adaptation of comics' oldest characters. While many who make that argument may do so from a place of nostalgia, the storytelling throughout holds up. If the Dcau has a cornerstone, it's the Justice League series that ran on the Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004. Justice League gave fans a very similar experience to reading the comics, from interconnected storytelling to the pure joy of seeing their favorite heroes work together. Interestingly, the Dcau was not the first shared universe featuring these characters. More than 30 years earlier, Filmation produced a "cinematic universe" featuring DC Comics' characters. It was followed by others, including the iconic Super Friends.
Justice League was not the first time fans saw these heroes together on the small screen. But, with all due respect to the stories that came before it, Justice League was better in every possible way.

The latest evolution of Batman lore just gave Robin a surprising new costume, bringing him closer to the Dark Knight's own design than ever. By operating on a villain's brain, the heroes exploit weaknesses and disable abilities, showing the dark side of Jla tactics. This article contains spoilers for the Chainsaw Man manga, available to read in English via Viz Media and Shonen Jump.
In todays shonen landscape, Tatsuki Fujimotos Chainsaw Man stands out as a truly revolutionary work, its unorthodox approach to story development and characterization pushing the series to the heights of popularity and acclaim. Ongoing since 2018, the series tells the story of Denji, an impoverished teenager surviving in an unforgiving world of Devils, whose life takes a dramatic turn when his pet Devil, Pochita, offers the boy his heart, transforming him into the titular Chainsaw Man.
Over the course of its run, Csm never failed to deliver on some of the best narratives in modern shonen history, the manga defined by its unpredictability, ruthlessness, and inclination to take dramatic risks and turn the plot in shocking directions. Currently on its thirteenth story arc, the series favors short and impactful plots that develop at a rapid pace,...

Bosch is a police procedural drama based on the Michael Connelly book series featuring the titular detective Harry Bosch. The series ran for seven seasons before it ended in 2021. However, thanks to the popularity of the show, Bosch returned only a year later with the sequel series Bosch: Legacy. Bosch: Legacy continues with the story of Bosch but also features characters like Honey Chandler and Maddie Bosch in main roles.
Most of the storylines from Bosch: Legacy began in the original Bosch series. Each season of Bosch deals with a different main criminal case that Harry Bosch must investigate, but there are other plot lines that continue through multiple seasons. And while every season of Bosch is captivating and intriguing, some seasons stand out from the others thanks to the compelling characters introduced, the intriguing cases, or the overall impact the season had on the series.

Karpman is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having scored the music to the Disney+ series, “What If…?” and “The Marvels.”
The fourth Captain America film stars Anthony Mackie as flying superhero Sam Wilson, formerly known as Cap’s sidekick the Falcon. Mackie takes the mantle over from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who starred in the previous three “Captain America” movies and the four “Avengers” movies.
This time around, Sam is greeted by Harrison Ford’s U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who wants to make Captain America a U.S. agent. James Gunn will soon be launching his version of the DC Universe with David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, and with this will come along multiple other characters that were previously either left in the dark or left unexplored. One of these widely speculated characters includes Lobo as well, the villain widely rumored to be embodied by Jason Momoa.
Corenswet in and as Superman. | @jamesgunn/Ig.
While Momoa has been vocal about his heartiest desire to play this unhinged interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, nothing has been confirmed about even the character’s debut in this respective rebooted super-verse. But this villain is actually so iconic with some truly scary powers that seeing him face Corenswet’s Man of Steel is all we want to see after this.
Lobo is Scarier Than Fans’ Wildest Imaginations
Of all the comic book characters in comics, perhaps none holds as scary powers as Lobo.

When Masashi Kishimoto first introduced us to the Ninja World, this legendary trio of Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke were nothing but children. Even still, 2024 may offer a bit more variety and, in turn, more attention.
Alternatively, superhero TV shows did quite well in 2023 with the release of fan-favorite My Adventures With Superman, Invincible Season 2 and Gen V.
