"November Rain" by Guns N' Roses has always been my all-time favorite song. I've watched the music video more times than I can count. This iconic song and video have stood the test of time remarkably well, sounding and looking just as fresh in the 2020s as they did in the 1990s.
Guns N' Roses performing this beautiful and powerful rock ballad alongside an orchestra reminds me of other classics, such as Queen's official music video for Who Wants to Live Forever. However, November Rain also tells a story, making the music video feel like a short film with a plot that takes the viewer on an emotional rollercoaster.
Additionally, the video employs many ingenious techniques that we take for granted today but were groundbreaking in the early 1990s. For example, the sweeping camera shots that circle Slash as he plays outside the church in the windy desert would be simple to achieve with today's drone technology, but such tools weren't available back then.

Guns N' Roses epic 1992 hit single "November Rain" has without a doubt been one of the most compelling and long drawn out music videos maybe ever made as it tells a love story of life and death. I remember mostly during the summer of 1992 how "MTV" and it's audiences was so in love with this it was airplay heaven for Rose, Slash and the boys. This love story shows out like a novel for the way it shows love and life being up and down with happiness and grief as it all leads to tragedy and death. Love the guitar play from Slash also and the lyrics are mind and head catching and at the time Mr. Rose's girlfriend in real life and in the video too was the sexy Victoria Secret lingerie model Stephanie Seymour who was such a beauty and glance of eye candy while watching this. Really enough said one of the better music videos ever made.
It's hard to believe Guns N' Roses released November Rain 30 years ago. Wow, 30 years, and this song and video has stood the test of time for sure. Sure, some may say the video is way too long, but so what, it's quite emotional for a hard rock band.
GNR reminding us that rock has its true and righteous place in history and in spectacular fashion. In just a few minutes this music video tells a tale better than some movies. Beautiful story and cinematography sent against an amazing song.
More a short film than a video ( for many, obvious reasons ) , it preserves the gift to be one of the most touchings love songs in the rock history.
Not only for lyrics, music or cinematography, but for a gentle exploration , in profound sense, of love.
This makes it evergreen , because it has the precious gift to translate emotions, forms of bitterness, deep sadness and happiness in simple, precise and honest manner.
A song about love and wedding, about uniqueness of happiness and the profound loneliness of the sufferance.
So, maybe a gem, not only in musical terms.
Beautiful and powerful.
