Peter the Great

This was a mildly entertaining Russian movie. Not as good as other Russian fare but maybe that's because the physical production left a lot to be desired. It was somewhat confusing at the beginning but I picked up on what was happening about half way through the first episode. I have read a couple of biographies of Peter and according to them he was a despot, throwing people in the river after working them to death and so on and so forth. This did not show any of that but maybe since it was about the end of his reign maybe that part of his life was not emphasized in this offering.
