Gravitas Ventures has obtained the rights to The Judge – Character. Cases. Courage., a documentary directed by Robert Griffith and narrated by Justin Theroux. The pic, which hails from the American Documentary Film Fund, will be released on Tvod/digital platforms on January 26. The doc follows Judge Robert R. Merhige, Jr. in his distinguished, momentous and tumultuous 31-year tenure on the Federal bench where he fought against the status quo to promote racial and gender equality, protect the environment, uphold the rule of law and the US Constitution. It features interviews from the likes of U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-va), U.S. Senator Mark Warner ((D-va), Anne Holton, Judge Merhige’s former law clerk, among many others.

Even though “American Horror Story” Season 10 has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is good news for Evan Peters fans as the actor has offically signed on for the new episodes. Peters and co-star Sarah Paulson are the only two “AHS” cast members to appear in each of the first eight cycles of FX’s horror anthology series. They both sat out last year’s “1984” summer camp installment, but will now return along with several other fan-faves (see the Season 10 cast list).

Ryan Murphy fans don’t have to worry about saying goodbye to “American Horror Story” any time soon, as FX has just renewed the anthology series for three more seasons before the show even debuts its 10th later this year, the cable channel announced during the Television Critics Association press tour Thursday.

Created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk and produced by 20th Century Fox Television, the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning “AHS” franchise has been picked up for Seasons 11, 12 and 13, chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions John Landgraf, told reporters.

Throughout the years of American Horror Story, there's been a lot of debate on which season is ultimately the best. While the first three definitely stand as the crown jewels of the series, Freak Show is a special one due to being the last season featuring Jessica Lange in a major role.

Well, it looks like Mr. Jingles's son Bobby is all grown up in American Horror Story: 1984, and he's played by none other than mainstay Ahs hunk Finn Wittrock. Anyone who's watched the anthology series knows that like Jessica Lange and Lily Rabe, Wittrock is a recurring player in Ryan Murphy's showcase of actors. He first appeared as Twisty the Clown's spoiled apprentice Dandy Mott on Freak Show, then pulled double duty as Rudolph Valentino and model Tristan Duffy in Hotel. Cult's Jether Polk marked his latest appearance on American Horror Story, where he was unrecognizable with shaggy hair and messed up teeth. Like John Carroll Lynch, his onscreen father this season, Wittrock is back, even if only in the finale.

Wittrock pops up as adult Bobby Richter, the son of Mr. Jingles and a former prostitute in Alaska. When we last see Bobby, Mr. Jingles had left him with his aunt.

American Horror Story: Freak Show is one of the more divisive seasons of the hit series, with the focus being on the old-school circus and a group of 'freaks' who all have different abnormalities.

While many had hoped that Twisty the Clown would be the main feature within this season, that didn't end up being the case, with Freak Show having several different plots all pushed into one season, which left some people confused and asking questions.

Freak Show might not have been the best season of American Horror Story, but it was certainly one of the most stylish. Each costume highlighted the characters' quirks, making them truly come to life. Like some other seasons, this one was more of a character study, reeling us in to become attached to various personalities, rather than the horror story that scares us out of our pants, and the characters' wardrobes served as a central part of this theme.

Whether you were disappointed in the lack of scares that some other seasons provided or you enjoyed falling for Dot, Bette, Jimmy and Ma Petite, you can't call any of them boring.

In her time reigning over American Horror Story, Jessica Lange learned to set some boundaries with Ryan Murphy. "There are things that I tell [Ryan Murphy] I won't do," the actress said at a recent press conference for The Politician, her third and newest series with the television mastermind. As reported by Decider, Lange added, "We have come to a kind of understanding."

"Over those four years of doing that I wasn't involved in the really gory aspect of that series. Sid Haig, a veteran character actor best known for his later-in-life roles in Rob Zombie’s horror films House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, died Saturday, his wife Susan Haig announced today on Haig’s Instagram page. He was 80. No cause of death was given.

“He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be,” Susan Haig wrote. “He adored his family, his friends and his fans. This came as a shock to all of us.” See the post below.

Haig’s credits stretch back to the early 1960s, when he eked out a career in small TV and film roles (he was King Tut’s Royal Apothecary on Batman and a bandage-wrapped mummy on an episode of The Lucy Show) then keeping busy with similar appearances through the ’70s, the ’80s and into the 2000s.

But Haig enjoyed newfound attention when Zombie cast him as evil, clown-faced Captain Spalding in the 2003 cult horror film House of 1000 Corpses, its 2005 sequel The Devil’s Rejects and a 2019 follow-up 3 From Hell. Years before the similar Twisty the Clown terrorized American Horror Story: Freak Show, Haig won Fangoria Awards, became a favorite of horror and exploitation fans and made an appearance in Quentin Tarantino’s 2004 pic Kill Bill Vol. 2.

In an Instagram post today, Zombie shared a snapshot of himself and Haig at the Edith Head Costume building at Universal Studios, taken around the turn of the century. Haig is wearing a filthy, tattered clown costume.

“We were both having a good laugh at this crummy, ill-fitting clown suit,” writes Zombie. “It took a few tries to get his look right, but we got there. Who knew that crazy clown would become an iconic horror figure? Certainly not the two guys in the picture.”

Welcome back to “American Horror Story,” which in its ninth season travels back in time to the 1970s and 1980s to play in the slasher genre.

Only one episode into the season, it already looks to be a fun ride because “1984” is the first season since “Freak Show” to be set in the past. This year seems like a real treat for campy horror, though, harkening back to not only the original “Friday the 13th” movies but also the fun knockoffs like “Sleepaway Camp” and “Summer Camp Nightmare.”

This is also the first season without Sarah Paulson or Evan Peters. Losing not one but two heavy-hitters leaves “Horror Story” with some big shoes to fill; luckily, Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourd have come on strong in recent years to fill that Paulson void.

If you've been holding out hope for Jessica Lange to return to any future editions of American Horror Story, then we have some bad news:

Jessica Lange has seemingly quashed a return as a new character to the franchise.

The actress appeared in the first four seasons of the FX anthology, before returning as a guest for last year's Apocalypse.

But Lange does not like the idea of starting as a new character.

"I don't think I would want to start from scratch and create a character," the actress told The Wrap.

"And also I think a lot of the actors that I was working with, people that I really love working with, like Sarah [Paulson] or Frances [Conroy] or Kathy [Bates] – I don't know who's in this new season [1984], but I don't think it would be the same."

As “American Horror Story: 1984” premieres Wednesday, fans are wondering what twists and turns the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology series has in store for them. American Horror Story's ninth season is going to look completely different from previous seasons. 

The latest big change comes in the form of Sarah Paulson who likely not be appearing on American Horror Story: 1984 in any capacity. 

Per Variety, Paulson is hard at work on the upcoming FX series, Mrs. America, and will not have a regular role on the horror franchise for the first time since American Horror Story Season 1.

Despite appearing on three episodes of American Horror Story Season 1, Paulson was an instant favorite with fans, and she went on to have a bigger role on seasons 2 through 8. 

A cameo is entirely possible for Paulson, but the series will not feel the same without the actress having a big part. 

The news comes months after it was revealed that Evan Peters would be sitting out of American Horror Story: 1984, meaning two fan-favorites are out.

Now this is scary. Sarah Paulson is reportedly not going to be starring in FX’s upcoming “American Horror Story: 1984,” per our sister site Variety. However, the door remains open for the “People v. O.J. Simpson” Emmy winner to pop up in a cameo in this ninth installment, which will debut on Wednesday, September 18. Of note, Paulson is the only female actor to appear in all eight seasons so far, with co-star Evan Peters being the only male actor; Peters has also said that he won’t be back for Season 9.

FX’s anthology series “American Horror Story” is going back in time to 1984 for its upcoming ninth installment, which will debut on Wednesday, September 18, the network announced Monday. Besides the premiere date, little is known about “American Horror Story: 1984” except for two previously announced cast members. “Ahs” scene-stealer Emma Roberts is back again after popping up in “Coven,” “Freak Show,” Cult” and “Apocalypse,” while Olympic skier and “Sharknado 5: Global Swarming” star Gus Kenworthy joins the franchise for the first time.

The bad news for “Ahs” fanatics is that series stalwart Evan Peters, the only male actor to appear in the first eight seasons, will reportedly not be back for Season 9. Word is still out on whether Sarah Paulson, the only female actor to star in all eight cycles, will return.

It's almost time to return to the horrifying world of American Horry Story. 

FX has finally revealed when the hit drama series will return for its ninth season, titled American Horror Story: 1984. 

The series will return Wednesday, September 18 in the 10/9c slot. 

Not a lot is known about American Horror Story Season 9, save for the fact that it will pay homage to 1980s slasher movies.

That much was revealed thanks to a teaser that was dropped earlier this year.

Beyond that, we know that Emma Roberts will return for her fifth season, having already appeared in Coven, Freak Show, Cult, and Apocalypse. 

But don't expect Evan Peters to return. The actor who has appeared in the previous eight seasons is sitting the ninth season out.

Paramount Network eyes a Breaking Bad dynamic for border crime series Coyote, which will star Michael Chiklis.

Michael Chiklis, a name widely associated with acclaimed crime shows, is set to star in Coyote, an intriguing TV project brandishing a premise pertinent to today’s news headlines, for the burgeoning cable channel, Paramount Network.

Coyote will see Chiklis – in a way akin to his legendary run as tortured bent cop, Vic Mackey on The Shield – headline in a dark character study, as Variety reports. Here, he will play United States Border Agent Ben Clemens, who on the day of his mandatory retirement, discovers a tunnel used for black market smuggling into the United States from Mexico. After choosing to take advantage of this Narnia-like portal for illicit activity, Clemens finds himself targeted by an old enemy made on the job, a criminal mastermind he’s spent his career chasing.

Shield vet Michael Chiklis is set to executive-produce and star in Coyote, a crime drama in development at Paramount Network, Deadline reports.

The potential series — which hails from Breaking Bad vet Michelle MacLaren — centers on Ben Clemens (Chiklis), a soon-to-be-retired border patrol agent who discovers an underground tunnel used to smuggle black market goods in from Mexico. Before long, he finds himself in the crosshairs of the criminal mastermind that he has spent the better part of his career attempting to destroy.

Munich-based world sales company Global Screen has picked up the rights to 3D animated feature “Stitch Head,” co-helmed by the director of box-office hit “Ooops! Noah Is Gone…” Global Screen will present the project to buyers at the Cannes Film Market next month.

The film gives a humorous twist to the Frankenstein story, in which the monsters are the good guys and the humans are scary. The movie, directed by Toby Genkel and Steve Hudson, is based on the children’s books by British author Guy Bass.

The film is set at Castle Grotteskew, high above the little town of Grubbers Nubbin, where a mad professor brings to life his monstrous creations, and then forgets about them. Looking after the castle and its monsters is Stitch Head – the professor’s first creation.

Ryan Murphy dropped the title for this fall’s American Horror Story‘s season 9, which will be known as Ahs 1984.

It’s a throwback to ’80s slasher movies as evident in the clip that Murphy posted on social showing a teenage girl fleeing a dark-Jason-like guy wielding a knife. The year 1984 is when Friday the 13th was billed as its “Final Chapter”. There were also such genre faves as Nightmare on Elm Street and Children of the Corn which hit the screen that year.

Emma Roberts is coming back to season 9 and her boyfriend will be played by Olympic silver medalist freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy.

The return of Sarah Paulson hasn’t been announced yet. Together with Evan Peters they’ve appeared in every single season of Ahs, however, the actor says he’s sitting this season out.

Ryan Murphy shared some details about the season on Instagram early on Wednesday morning. 

He shared a teaser video which shows a masked figure chasing a young woman through the woods. 

The masked figure puts his dagger through the cabin door the woman hides behind. 

We are then given the season's title:

American Horror Story: 1984

Could we be in for Friday the 13th-themed season? Quite possibly, but the show has a way of subverting expectations.

American Horror Story appears poised to unleash a good ol’ summer camp slasher for Season 9.

Series auteur Ryan Murphy shared on Instagram Wednesday morning a teaser video in which a masked marauder stalks a young female through the woods, eventually plunging his dagger through the cabin door behind which she hides. A logo screen then pops up revealing the season’s “1984” subtitle, scrawled in red in the bloody style of 1980s slasher films.

On the casting front, it was previously announced that Ahs/Scream Queens vet Emma Roberts will return for more scares, with Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy playing her character’s beau.

American Horror Story‘s crossover-crazed eighth season has been rendered ineligible to compete in Emmy’s 2019 Limited Series race.

The Television Academy announced on Tuesday that because Ahs: Apocalypse contained “continuing story threads, characters and actors reprising those same character roles from previous seasons” — specifically the Murder House, Coven and Hotel installments — it is being “re-categorized” from the Limited Series category to Drama Series.

The change also applies to Season 2 of USA Network’s The Sinner and Season 2 of Netflix’s American Vandal.

The Academy is quick to note that this “re-categorization” is effective for the 2019 Emmy Awards competition only.

Ryan Murphy has revealed casting news for American Horror Story’s upcoming ninth installment. The Ahs series creator broke the news today on Instagram that Gus Kenworthy, Olympic medalist and actor, will join Ahs alum Emma Roberts in Season 9

Murphy posted a photo of Kenworthy with the caption: “That special moment when you realize you have an Olympic medal And will be playing Emma Roberts’ boyfriend on American Horror Story Season 9.”

Pro skier Kenworthy, a silver medalist in the men’s slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, made his TV acting debut in The Real O’Neals on ABC in 2016, followed by Sharknado 5: Global Swarming in which he did a cameo as a skier. He also was a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars.

The 69th Berlin Film Festival (Feb 7-17) has unveiled its Competition Jury, headed by previously announced president Juliette Binoche.

Binoche will be joined by Toni Erdmann actress Sandra Huller; A Fantastic Woman director Sebastian Lelio; actress-producer-director Trudie Styler (Freak Show); Los Angeles Times film critic Justin Chang and Museum of Modern Art chief curator Rajendra Roy.

The jury contains four women and two men.

Among this year’s competition titles are Isabel Coixet’s Elisa y Marcela, Zhang Yimou’s One Second, François Ozon’s By The Grace of God and Agnieszka Holland’s Mr.

Actress-director Trudie Styler and Chilean helmer Sebastián Lelio are among those tapped for jury duty at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival.

The Berlinale announced the full lineup of the main competition jury Tuesday for its 69th edition. U.S. film critic Justin Chang, German actress Sandra Hüller and American museum curator Rajendra Roy will join Lelio and Styler, as well as jury president Juliette Binoche, in deciding the winner of the Golden and Silver Bear awards out of the 17 films in competition.

Lelio’s “A Fantastic Woman” took home the Oscar for best foreign-language film last year, the first Chilean movie to do so. The film had screened in competition in Berlin in 2017, with lead performer Paulina Garcia winning the Silver Bear for best actress. Lelio’s latest film, “Disobedience,” stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams.
