While serving a 22-year prison sentence for two counts of murder-for-hire, eight counts of violating the Lacey Act for falsifying wildlife records and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act, Joe Exotic met fellow inmate Marquez and the two were married in April. The star of the reality series The Tiger King shared a photo of the two newlyweds on April 22, writing, “Never been more proud of someone,” along with the introduction, “Meet my husband…”

In a post to X at the time, Joe Exotic also wrote, “Meet Jorge Marquez, he is 33. He is so amazing and is from Mexico. Now, the quest of getting married in prison and getting him asylum, or we be leaving America when we both get out.” He added, “Either way, I wish I would have met him long ago.

Ukrainian filmmaker Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy will direct The Tiger starring Alexander Skarsgard and to be produced by Darren Aronofsky and Protozoa. The Veterans and CAA Media Finance will launch Cannes sales.

Slaboshpytskiy adapted the screenplay from the book by John Vaillant set in eastern Russia in the late 1990s as a group of men called Tiger Team work to protect endangered tigers from poachers and logging operations.

Set in snowy far east Russia in the late 90s, the feature follows a group of men — referred to as the Tiger Team — who work to protect endangered tigers from poachers and logging operations. The story follows Vanzin (Skarsgard), the Team’s leader whose sense of duty is tested when he’s charged with hunting down and exterminating a tiger that killed a poacher in self-defense. DeHaan would portray Kanchuga, a young environmental scientist and newest member of the Team.

International sales agency The Open Reel has acquired Lebanese filmmaker Selim Mourad’s “Moss Agate” (“Agate mousse”), which is in the Rotterdam Film Festival’s Tiger competition.

In the film, a visit to a cosmetic-surgery clinic and the discovery of a lump in his testicle and an abscess in his mouth confront filmmaker Selim Mourad with transience and decay. After his death, which proceeds without any further explanation or ado, Selim’s image appears in an exhibition by a pretentious photographer, and a visitor to the gallery comments that the round framing of these portraits of the dead is reminiscent of film. The actual film frame then also adopts this circular form, this time with Selim’s friend Tamara at the center.

Murray Schisgal, whose writing brought a 1964 Tony Award nomination for the Broadway play Luv and a 1982 Oscar nomination for the hit Dustin Hoffman comedy Tootsie, died Oct. 1 at a nursing home in Port Chester, New York. He was 93.

His death was announced by his son Zach Schisgal. A cause of death was not disclosed.

ObituaryBeginning his career with ‘Ulkaladal’ in 1979, Velayudhan has worked with directors such as Kamal, Sathyan Anthikad, Sibi Malayil, Priyadarshan, Fasil, Lohithadas and others.Tnm StaffRenowned costume designer from the Malayalam film industry, Velayudhan Keezhillam, passed away in Chalakkudy, Kerala, following a cardiac arrest. He was 66. He died in a hospital in Chalakkudy, reports Asianet News. Velayudhan won the state award for best costume design in 1994 for his work in the film Manathe Vellitheru, which starred Shobana and Vineeth in the lead. As an independent musician performing on stage, Shobana appeared in all sorts of fashionable clothes, then unseen in Malayalam cinema. Netflix has officially announced a new episode of their Tiger King docuseries. Jeff Lowe, who appears in the series, stated last week that the streaming platform was going to release a new episode last week. As it turns out, he wasn't just trying to drum up some free publicity. Netflix made the announcement today, revealing that The Tiger King and I will premiere this Sunday, April 12th. However, the new episode will take on a different format.

From writer/director Park Hoon-jung (New World) comes the critically-acclaimed drama The Tiger, debuting on Blu-ray™, DVD and digital August 9 from Well Go USA Entertainment. The film features a remarkable performance from Korean superstar Choi Min-sik (Oldboy, Lucy, The Admiral: Roaring Currents) in return to action in the role of retired sharpshooter facing off against the last surviving tiger in Japanese-occupied Korea in 1925.

The film also stars Jung Man-sik (Chronicle of a Blood Merchant), Kim Sang-ho (The Beauty Inside), Ren Osugi (upcoming: Godzilla Resurgence) and feature film newcomers Sung Yu-bin and Jeong Seok-won.

Based on the true story of legendary mountaineer Um Hong-Gil, played by Hwang Jung-Min (Veteran and Ode To My Father). Starring alongside Hwang is actor Jung Woo (C’est Si Bon and Wish) who plays Park Moo-Taek, a young mountaineer and member of the Daemyung University alpinists who perishes in Mt. Everest’s notorious “death zone” above 26,000 ft. Hong-Gil reassembles his expedition team in an attempt to retrieve Moo-Taek’s body.

Director Lee last helmed The Pirates (2014), and previously worked with Hwang on Dancing Queen (2012).

This month more than 18 million people attended the Korean Cinemas, sales reach over $124 million dollars. Korean Films gather most of the public again with 64% of the market and reaching sales of $79 million. As far as foreign films they were watched by 6.6 million people and sales reach $45 million.

If we compared the data from the same month but from last year we can observe that the total admissions descent 12.6%. Korean film admissions only descent 4% but the biggest variation is in the foreign film admissions as they show a decline of 24%. Something we weren’t expecting due the release of the highly awaited “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. This month sales reach $124 million dollars, that’s $30 million less than in 2014.

This film was set up originally as a directing vehicle for Darren Aronofsky, who stepped off the project to direct the Russell Crowe-starrer Noah.
