Innsmouth

The best Lovecraftian movies are the ones loosely based on his works. It gives space for creative freedom and Izzy Lee did deliver on that. I wish she would have build up the mystery a bit more but the detective atmosphere and casting are working very well. Especially Tristan Risk (I won't spoil her role but trust me). It's far from a direct adaptation but Izzy Lee made a short film that definitely has its place in the myth of Innsmouth.

Izzy Lee is the brave and twisted female filmmaker that the horror industry has been waiting for! This film screened at Third Eye Film Festival last December. At the start, the tone of the film is equal parts dangerous and mysterious, in true Lovecraft fashion. A crime scene featuring unusual causes of death sets the mood. When the detective goes alone to investigate Innsmouth, the film seems to transport you to an evil community from centuries past... The shocking reveal at the climax of the film is a clever interpretation of Lovecraftian unseen horrors that he surely would have appreciated. Thank you for making Innsmouth! Watch out for Izzy Lee!

It's a beautiful twisted adaptation of Lovecraft's famous novel "The Shadow over Innsmouth" which is my most favorite. I jumped into watching it with much expectation not knowing anything about how it is like except Tristan is in there. After watching it, wow, it was just wow. I have never thought such twisted tale could come out in front of me. I am the one who read the original novel again and again. I know who Alice Marsh is. She's daughter of famous Captain Obed Marsh (the guy who had started everything at Innsmouth). And also she's a great grandmother of Robert Olmstead who's the narrator of the story. After watching Innsmouth, I am truly satisfied with the fact that I met another gem which was born from what Lovecraft left us. Very creative. Lovecraft never dies.
