This is one of the WORSE shows I have Ever seen. The story line is all over the place. Jumping from one thing to the other with NO Explanation. The writing is atrocious. A 10 year old with a small amount of imagination could have written something better. This show seems to be an attempt at a Cheap Copying of the series Deadwood.
I would have rathered sub-titles than the hokey over-dub, hardening back to bad 60's international flicks. I couldn't give it more than a few minute, there are just too many competing shows. Maybe they can make the Irish version available to US? We can and do read.
Didn't have anything to watch and I saw this on Youtube. I liked new gold mountain and hell on wheels but this is a cheap knock off. It's not bad tho I didn't like how after about 6 episodes they started speaking Dutch or something? I thought it would stop as the Connelly brothers never spoke another language but it continued in the next episode so I looked for something else. It's not bad. I tried about 7 other things I turned off in a few minutes but I got thru quite a few episodes of this. I'll continue it again tonight but if I'm going to read subtitles I may as well just watch a really good foreign film.
In the first season the story was told in a pretty messy/sloppy way... It's not so sloppy that it's confusing or hard to follow, it's just a bit amateurish. The directing was adequate, not great though. There are four languages spoken in the show, which is actually pretty slick and lends an aithentic feel tothe show. On Netflix Canada all the non-English parts are dubbed, not subtitled... Except the aboriginal parts, they aren't dubbed or subbed, but they're very few.
Where this ahow really earned my 7 star rating was season two... All the kinks were ironed out and they did a hell of a job.
Season 1 definitely isn't painful to watch, but it pales in comparison to season 2. Definitely wprththe little time investment to watch it start to finish.

I found this series to be well worth the time to watch. It is gritty and doesn't have the soap opera or slick feel that many U.S. dramas lean toward. The acting quality is excellent. Most of the actors were unknown to me but won't be for long. I discovered this series after watching Single-Handed with Owen McDonnell and wanting to see more of his work. If this is an example of the quality of programming coming out of Ireland right now I hope more and more will become available here in the U.S.
