Luke Cage and Iron Fist are perhaps one of the most iconic duos in the Marvel Universe. Appearing in a slew of versions of the Marvel Universe, Heroes for Hire is an important part of the superhero community in Marvel Comics, but it also allowed the early versions of the character to talk about race in a nuanced manner, the kind that is not always the case with other Black heroes.

Luke Cage’s initial run in the comics had him run under the title, which was Hero for Hire, which then changed to Power Man, which then changed to Power Man and Iron Fist. The latest of these completely changed how Power Man approached the concept of race in a comic book, something that was a novel idea in the industry.

Nicolas Cage is headlining revenge thriller The Surfer, and the first trailer for the movie has arrived. Right here, in fact.
Whatever else happens in 2025, at least we have Nicolas Cage in The Surfer, and that offers no small degree of comfort.
First announced in the middle of 2023, the psychological thriller follow’s Cage’s ageing surfer as he returns to his beachside hometown in Australia, many years since building a life for himself in the US. However, any feelings of fuzzy nostalgia are quickly shattered when he is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local gang of surfers who lay claim over the secluded surfer’s spot of his childhood. Humiliated, Cage decides to dispute the surfers’ claims, but as things escalate, the conflict spirals wildly out of control, pushing Cage’s surfer to the brink of madness.
So far, so Cage. We’ve seen the...

Nicolas Cage is preparing to make a sinister splash with his latest psychological thriller The Surfer, which is crashing into theaters on May 2, 2025. Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions released the first trailer and poster for the "sun-beaten terror" (seen below), showing that it's not just the weather bringing the heat in this sizzling new feature, as Cage plays a father who gets embroiled in a turf war on the beach. According to the movie's official synopsis, the conflict quickly reaches a boiling point.
"A man returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. But his desire to hit the waves is thwarted by a group of locals whose mantra is 'don't live here, don't surf here.' Humiliated and angry, the man is drawn into a conflict that keeps rising in concert with the punishing heat of the summer and pushes him to his breaking point.

Mortal Kombat is one of the most successful action media franchises of all time, but it has pretty much the same story as every other video game that got adapted into a live-action project: A disappointing series of events. That said, it’s quite surprising that someone as famous and riding hot on the success of The Boys as Karl Urban would want to join the franchise.

While there have been fans who found the live-action film series bearable due to certain elements of it as well, the movies haven’t quite fared all that finely among critics, so Urban’s joining the second film in the reboot saga is a rather questionable choice. But what’s even more questionable is his casting as Johnny Cage, for which, fans have already given 3 other better candidates.

Mortal Kombat fans have finally been given a look at The Boys’ Karl Urban as Johnny Cage in a new image shared on the official Mortal Kombat X/Twitter account. As one of the most anticipated new arrivals in the upcoming sequel, the full look of Urban as the video game icon is certainly one to get fans hyped for the movie’s arrival. Although this is only a “film” poster for one of the character’s in-world movies, there is certainly plenty to suggest that fans are going to love his interpretation of the role.
One of the biggest talking points after the first film’s release in 2021 was the notable absence of Cage, and with a sequel being anything but certain at the time, the omission of a key figure from the original video games seemed like a risky move. The movie’s ending, however, teased a future...

The underground Swedish fight club in The Cage was a surprising moment in the Mma series, and some viewers may wonder if it was purely fictitious or based on facts. The Cage is a very dark TV show that deals with some of the harsh truths of Mma, but one scene was so awful it didn't even seem real. The cast of The Cage, and especially Taylor, were forced into some extremely dangerous situations, and by the ending of The Cage, several people had almost died. One particularly dangerous scene was a little jarring, and it wasn't clear if it was realistic.
In The Cage episode 4, Boss took Taylor to an underground fight club in Sweden to help him get over the trauma of his brutal knockout at the tournament. Underground fight clubs aren't terribly surprising, but The Cage's had...

The actor who played Taylor Keita in Netflix's The Cage, Melvin Boomer, has a wholesome real-world connection to Mma (mixed martial arts) that made his story even better. The Cage is, largely, not a wholesome show. Taylor's first foray into the world of professional Mma fighting was fraught with setbacks, betrayals, and depressing moments, and the ending of The Cage struck an unusually dark note. Luckily, Melvin Boomer has a much more uplifting real-world story to offset The Cage's often bleak narrative.
The cast of The Cage is filled with up-and-coming young French actors, like Melvin Boomer himself. It's also filled with long-time veterans of French cinema, and The Cage also features several real Mma fighters, like Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones. All of the actors in The Cage brought something unique to the screen, but Melvin Boomer brought his acting talents and a secret connection to Mma.

Marvel Studios can move mountains. Okay, maybe not literally; but metaphorically, the studio can move any mountains it wants to. They are single-handedly responsible for producing the most successful box office franchise of all time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which has grossed over $30 billion across its 34 movies), and it's still going strong.
Its current Multiverse Saga continues to surprise people, as the MCU is successfully able to use the concept to bring back classic actors to portray beloved roles and make some dream fan-castings a reality (John Krasinski as the Fantastic Four's Reed Richards), having them interact with some of the most popular and current characters within their own franchise.
It's like watching the past, present, and future collide all at once, and that's part of the Marvel magic that really proves the franchise can make the impossible happen. It reportedly tried to do it again another time...

For all the incredible guest stars and forgotten characters whom Ryan Reynolds roped into the making of Deadpool & Wolverine, there are still a small handful of big gets who got away — maybe they saw what he did to Brad Pitt in the last movie.
Six years after Deadpool 2 proved that Reynolds’ decade-long struggle to get Hollywood to buy into his darkly hilarious, R-rated super-antihero film franchise wasn’t just a flash in the pan, the multi-hyphenate mogul pulled out all the stops to turn this year’s Deadpool & Wolverine into one big send-up of the chaotic comic book movie industry that exists outside of the mainstream Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, Reynolds is far from the first A-lister to attempt to bring a less-loved comic book character to life on the big screen, and he graciously decided to turn his smashing success at the ambitious undertaking to honor...

Quentin Tarantino picks his favorite Nicolas Cage movie of the last five years, and it's the perfect choice. Tarantino is one of the most influential and accomplished auteurs of his generation, having written and directed nine feature films, winning two Academy Awards, with a tenth and final film on the way. In addition to being an accomplished auteur, Tarantino is also a serious cinephile who frequently shares his unfiltered opinions on film, recently praising the critically-panned Joker: Folie Deux and revealing that he refuses to watch Denis Villeneuve's Dune movies.

Neon marketing executive Christian Parks reflects on the unique promotion of Longlegs that led to its surprise box office success, sharing that it had an interesting connection with Jaws (1975). Directed by Osgood Perkins, the horror-thriller follows FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) as she tracks an elusive serial killer played by Nicolas Cage. Marketing for the movie didn't fully show Cage's character, building anticipation for the film and hyping the actor's drastic transformation. The tactic worked and Longlegs became a major box office hit after hitting theaters in July.
In a recent interview with THR, Parkes reflects on the massively successful Longlegs marketing campaign and, crucially, the decision to leave Cage out of it. The executive reveals that not showing Cage was a move inspired by Steven Spielberg's Jaws, which memorably makes the shark an even scarier villain by showing it very sparingly on-screen:

“Longlegs” had the longest legs at the box office of any indie film in 2024, a triumph for the Neon marketing team.
Neon marketing executive Christian Parkes told The Hollywood Reporter that his campaign for the horror film focused on appealing to the genre audience as opposed to relying on the star power of actor Nicolas Cage, or showing any of its thrills in trailers.
“From the jump, we said we need to respect the horror audience, the genre audience, because they’re largely underserved, I think, by distributors and studios,” Parkes said. “If we treat them with respect, if we talk to them on their terms and on their level and bring them along, they will invest in this film, carry this film and make it their own.”
And that’s exactly what horror fans did: “Longlegs” went on to gross $22 million its opening weekend and ultimately made $75 million domestic...

Nicolas Cage’s status as a national treasure is being cemented by the Metrograph.
The New York City-based theater has announced a “Nicolas Uncaged” festival to honor the acclaimed star. The 10-film retrospective opens November 8 at Metrograph In Theater, and will feature 35mm showings of “Con Air,” “Moonstruck,” “The Wicker Man,” and “Wild at Heart.”
“Heaped with praise and panegyrics as one of the finest screen actors of his generation, pilloried and parodied as an anything-for-a-paycheck hambone with a weakness for weird wigs and prostheses, Nicolas Cage is a one-man sideshow, a mixture of Marlon Brando, Robert Mitchum, Lon Chaney, and a stick of TNT who takes back ‘serious thespian’ prestige whenever he wants to, dives into grindhouse material and Academy Award hopefuls with the same mad enthusiasm, and never seems to be having anything less than a total blast in front of the camera,” the Metrograph press statement reads.

Martin Scorsese’s Bringing Out the Dead is a mélange of moods and genres ranging from Gothic horror to Bergmanesque spiritual rumination, and it shares the same maximalist approach that the filmmaker and cinematographer Robert Richardson brought to bear on 1995’s Casino. An account of sleep-deprived and burned-out paramedic Frank Pierce (Nicolas Cage) and his run of harrowing night shifts in Hell’s Kitchen, the film wastes little time in depicting Frank’s world as one of overdosing junkies and shooting victims, a place where hospitals suggest disaster zones, pulsing with the din of heart monitors and ever-raving patients.
So exhausting is this world that we meet Frank looking the way that Scorsese protagonists don’t usually look until the third act. That is, Cage enters the frame with sunken, bloodshot eyes and sallow skin. From the outset, it appears that the only thing preventing Frank from being hooked up...

Easily the most iconic line from The Warriors is the villain's menacing "Warriors, come out to play!" and the iconic taunt has a fascinating origin story. The Warriors was based on the novel of the same name and follows the titular gang, who attend a summit held by an influential gang leader named Cyrus. Said leader is gunned down while giving a speech, with the Warriors framed for the deed. They then have to travel from the Bronx to Coney Island while being pursued by just about every other gang in the city, who are seeking vengeance.
The movie's lean pace, great characters, and music saw it become a word-of-mouth smash, and it's now considered a cult favorite. The original movie is filled with famous quotes, but the most iconic line from The Warriors comes from the movie's villain, Luther. He taunts the Warriors with "Warriors,...

Nicolas Cage is a performer who needs no introduction. He's a flat-out force of nature, devouring the scenery with shameless enthusiasm. Few can match Cage's idiosyncratic screen presence, and fans love him for it. Films like Mandy and Face/Off would be nowhere near as memorable without his bombastic performances. A whirlwind of confidence and gusto, Nicolas Cage puts his all into a role regardless of its eccentricity. Who else could steal the Declaration of Independence with such suave and grace? Many of his most famous characters are preposterous works of fiction, yet Cage plays them with operatic sincerity. However, few have seen the megastar's most outlandish cinematic endeavor.

Nicolas Cage is one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces, but he doesn't exactly have the net worth to match. With a career spanning over four decades, the actor's versatility is unmatched, and Cage's massive filmography has seen him star in everything from action-packed blockbusters like National Treasure and Face/Off to critically acclaimed dramas such as Leaving Las Vegas, for which he won an Academy Award. Though the past decade has seen Cage take on many sub-par projects, he's made a return to form with the likes of Longlegs and Dream Scenario.

Star Trek: Discovery has already proven Orions can't change, despite the 24th-century efforts of D'Vana Tendi (Nol Wells) in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5. The effervescent Tendi is a member of a powerful Orion family, and her people revere and fear D'Vana as the Mistress of the Winter Constellations. However, Tendi is no Orion at heart; D'Vana's love of science and exploration led to her joining Starfleet, where she was one of the integral Lower Deckers aboard the USS Cerritos.
Lieutenant D'Vana Tendi resigned from Starfleet and returned to Orion at the end of Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4. Desperate for the Orions help to rescue Lieutenant Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome) from the diabolical ex-Starfleet cadet Nicholas Locarno (Robert Duncan McNeill), D'Vana struck a deal with her sister, D'Erika (Ariel Winter). In exchange for Starfleet gaining the use of an Orion battleship, D'Vana agreed to become the Mistress of the Winter Constellations once more.

Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir series has received some positive updates recently, but the best one yet has now been officially confirmed. Oscar- and multiple BAFTA nominee Brendan Gleeson is joining the world of Spider-Noir as the show's villain. Gleeson's exact role has not been revealed, and fans are desperately speculating and debating online who the villain could be, and it is currently believed he will be playing a city mob boss who Cage's protagonist will clash with.
Cage first played Spider-Man Noir in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, lending his voice to the cult-favorite Spider-Man variant. Hailing from a world inspired by 1940s noir thrillers, Spider-Man Noir is a classic American detective, and his story will soon be brought into live-action. Spider-Noir was one of the first projects announced for Gleeson following his nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 2023 Oscars for The Banshees of Inisherin.

According to Variety, Gleeson is believed to be playing the main villain, although exact details for his character are being kept under wraps. The actor is perhaps best known for starring in the Harry Potter film series, appearing in three of the eight films as Mad-Eye Moody. Based on the Japanese novel All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, Edge of Tomorrow tells the story of Major William Cage (played by Tom Cruise), a man who is forced onto the front lines for a major military operation against invading aliens known as "Mimics." Untrained and unprepared for combat, Cage is killed within minutes - only to wake up 24 hours earlier with no choice but to relive (and die) the same day over and over.
Like many time travel (or time loop) stories, Edge of Tomorrow relies on heady exposition and mind-bending sci-fi ideas which may confuse certain moviegoers. Although it does a decent job of explaining its loopy exploration of time, its genius take on the Groundhog Day time travel trope can be a little hard to follow. Tom Cruise's innovative sci-fi movie Edge of Tomorrow is streaming now on Netflix. Although Cruise has not starred in too many sci-fi films throughout his extensive Hollywood career, he has appeared in some of the best of the genre, including Steven Spielberg's Minority Report in 2002. Considering Cruise's decade-spanning commitment to his Mission: Impossible franchise, he hasn't had too many opportunities to branch back into the sci-fi genre after appearing in two notable sci-fi movies in 2013. Cruise tried to get two other major franchises off the ground, Jack Reacher and The Mummy reboot, which took up most of his schedule during the 2010s.

Given that the character is known for his wild rages and tendency to yell the phrase "Hulk smash!," it's curious that Kenneth Johnson's 1970s TV series "The Incredible Hulk" should be as melancholy as it is. Series protagonist David Banner (Bill Bixby) is depicted as a lonely, tragic figure, hating the fact that he, when enraged, turns into a green monster (played by superstar bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno). Indeed, in the TV show -- unlike the original Marvel comic books -- Dr. Banner first started experimenting with strength-giving radiation after he witnessed his wife die in a car crash. He had heard the stories of certain people summoning great strength in emergencies, and wanted to give himself that strength permanently, using it to fight off the trauma and sadness he always carried around.
Then, once he managed to accidentally give himself Hulk strength, it immediately divided Dr. Banner from the rest of society.

Yesterday evening, the news broke that J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot have inexplicably managed to sign a new multi-year film and TV deal with Warner Bros.
The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker filmmaker has produced little to nothing for the studio since signing a $250 million deal in 2019 (including a now-scrapped slate of Justice League Dark TV shows) but according to Puck, this new contract will be for significantly less money.
Elsewhere in the piece, various updates are shared about similar deals, including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller's partnership with Sony Pictures Television.
The duo signed a five-year, nine-figure TV deal with the studio in 2019, with the idea being that they'd oversee a slate of Spider-Man projects on streaming. Despite Sony's habit of producing terrible Marvel movies like Morbius and Madame Web, this partnership generated a fair bit of excitement among fans.

Mortal Kombats Forgotten Johnny Cage Movie Is Perfect To Watch While Waiting For Karl Urbans Version
Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match gives Johnny Cage his time to shine as a lead hero in this animated film. The light-hearted popcorn movie is a fun tribute to '80s genre fare and showcases Johnny Cage's cheesy one-liners. Cage's larger-than-life personality is tricky to nail on the big screen, but the animated film does justice to the character.
Despite being a hugely popular multimedia franchise, Mortal Kombat has a relatively forgotten and recent Johnny Cage movie that makes for the perfect watch ahead of actor Karl Urban's take on the character. Now over 30 years old, the Mortal Kombat franchise began in 1992 with Midway's now-iconic arcade game. Often referred to as one of the greatest games ever made, the original Mortal Kombat is a fighting game that features a roster of characters, all of whom are keen on winning a martial arts tournament no matter the often-gory costs.

It’s the kind of wild, star-studded team-up that could have blown the MCU wide open. Sadly, it’s a massive missed opportunity that has us wishing for what could have been. Could we still see Cage and Affleck in Secret Wars? Fingers crossed for some multiverse magic!

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool & Wolverine showcased meaningful cameos, while The Flash's were lacking in substance. Channing Tatum's Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine redeemed a scrapped project, unlike Nicolas Cage's Superman cameo in The Flash. Marvel demonstrated how to do cameos correctly by integrating them into the narrative themes of the film, honoring actors' legacies.
Marvel just showed DC how to do cameos correctly in Deadpool & Wolverine, and made Nicolas Cage's Superman cameo in The Flash look so much worse. DC and Marvel both recently released movies that included cameos from across the multiverse. The Flash paid homage to DC's past with cameos like Christopher Reeve's Superman and Helen Slater's Supergirl. The roster of Deadpool & Wolverine cameos redeemed a few of Marvel's former superheroes, like Jennifer Garner's Elektra and Wesley Snipes' Blade. While both movies had cameos, the ways in which...

Ryan Reynolds confirmed in a recent interview with Collider that he got in touch with Nicolas Cage and asked him to reprise his role of Ghost Rider in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The record-breaking Marvel blockbuster features a handful of actors reprising their comic book characters of yesteryear, from Jennifer Garner’s Elektra to Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm and Wesley Snipes’ Blade. Reynolds wanted Cage to join the film’s epic roster of cameos.
Asked if Cage was pursued to reprise Ghost Rider, Reynolds answered: “Yes.” The actor then added: “Came to a conversation for sure. Yeah, but no.”
Cage played Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in two comic book movies: “Ghost Rider” (2007) and “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” (2011). The movies were released by Sony, whereas “Deadpool & Wolverine” featured cameos from actors who starred in Marvel movies that were developed and distributed by Fox, which is now owned by Disney.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, and while the video game adaptation wrapped production back in January after a bumpy ride through the year of the strikes, it sounds like they’re doing some reshoots at the moment. Ludi Lin reprises the role of Liu Kang in the new film, and while doing the press rounds for the martial arts movie Art of Eight Limbs, where he co-stars with former TV Spider-Man Nicholas Hammond, Lin took a moment to hype Mortal Kombat 2 to the folks at Screen Rant, saying the sequel is bigger and better than its predecessor, and that Karl Urban’s performance as popular video game character Johnny Cage will “blow your socks off.”
The screenplay for Mortal Kombat 2 has been written by Jeremy Slater, who was the lead writer on the Marvel / Disney+ series Moon Knight.
