Borderlands Just Confirmed the Wildest Vault Hunter Secret Yet, and It’s Genius
Image
Borderlands’ absurd and goofy aesthetic is elevated by the existence of Vault Hunters in the game, some of whom are playable. For starters, these hunters live up to their name perfectly as their job is to hunt and loot treasure from various alien vaults.

These characters sport different designs and personalities, but have you ever wondered how these Vault hunters are created and who pitches them? Well, the answer to this secret will blow your mind, and honestly, it’s kind of genius and exactly the type of collaboration developers need.

Vault Hunters in Borderlands can be pitched by any developer within Gearbox Software

The official Borderlands channel on YouTube released an overview trailer titled ‘Making A Vault Hunter’ for Borderlands 4, in which Gearbox Software developers dive deep into what goes behind the creation of a Vault Hunter and how pitches turn into actual characters.

In the ‘Mayhem by Design’ section of the video,...

This Outer Worlds 2 Villain Might Be the Closest We’ve Come to Reviving a Certain Borderlands Legend
Image
Obsidian Entertainment recently revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase that The Outer Worlds 2 is coming out on October 29. But as part of the in-depth showcase, we got a look at what we might see in the game. Actually, there was a whole segment on it, so we saw a lot, but we want to talk about one specific point.

It seems like Auntie Cleo, a satirical corporate mascot from the first game, will make an appearance in this sequel. And from what we’ve seen so far, it seems like Auntie Cleo as an antagonist is the closest we’re going to get to one of the most iconic villains in video gaming history. Borderlands 2‘s Handsome Jack.

The Outer Worlds 2 might give us a new villain just like Handsome Jack

In The Outer Worlds, Auntie Cleo was in the background, more like a figurehead of corporate excess and capitalist satire.

Image
We are days away from the live-action How to Train Your Dragonand fans are excited for the feature, more so, after the recent success of Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch. To see Toothless and Hiccup’s chemistry on the big screen again will be delight for the fans of the franchise and its characters. As the movie makes its way to the audience, director Dean DeBloisis already busy musing about the sequel, and it’ll be darker than how fans imagine it.

DeBlois directed the original trilogy and is back at helm of the live-action versions, he brings a lot of understanding of the story and certainly has ideas about where he want’s to take the sequel, “Certainly in the second movie, tackling the whole idea of Toothless being weaponized and turned against Hiccup and Stoic intervening like that, that’s a pretty heavy moment. It was heavy for animation,...

Even I Want a ‘Twilight’ Anime Adaptation but Not Like How Lionsgate Wants to Make It
Image
Alright, let’s just say it straight out: an anime version of Twilight would be fantastic. Seriously, imagine it: dramatic sparkles, over-the-top romantic stares, a brooding Edward leaning against a cherry blossom tree, and Bella internally monologuing in the rain while a sad J-pop song plays in the background. Tell us that’s not peak anime perfection.

But here’s the catch: we want it done right. We want actual artists making it. Not, you know, a bunch of AI code stitched together to spit out vampire drama like a half-baked filter app. Which, sadly, is more or less what Lionsgate thinks is a good idea.

Lionsgate thinks AI can turn movies into anime in 3 hours, and that’s just wild

So, it seems Lionsgate, the film studio that gave us The Twilight Saga and Borderlands, believes it can just grab any random film in its vault, put it into an AI blender,...

'Do It in Anime, Make It PG-13': Twilight Saga Studio Exec Says AI Can Turn Live-Action Into Anime in 3 Hours
Image
Lionsgate, the movie studio behind The Twilight Saga and Borderlands, claims it can turn any movie from its film catalog into anime within three hours, thanks to AI. This bold statement comes nearly one year after Lionsgate invested in the AI startup Runway in September 2024.

New York Magazine recently published an article about Hollywood's not-so-secret love affair with AI, citing numerous business suits who believe this controversial generative prompt technology can enhance creative filmmaking by eliminating the creatives. One of those suits highlighted in the article was Michael Burns, the 66-year-old vice chairman of Lionsgate, who inked a deal with Runway, one of many AI prompt-generative companies sued by a group of artists over copyright control of their work in 2023 and was approved to move forward in August 2024. Burns claimed AI could be used to revitalize their films by fine-tuning them for a younger generation, such as making them appear like anime.

Borderlands Review Bombing Controversy: Spyware Concerns Are Destroying Gearbox
Image
Borderlands is one of the top names when we talk about RPG and looter shooter genres. Developed by Gearbox Software, the series, right from its debut in 2009, has managed to collect a massive fan base that simply can’t get enough of its post-apocalyptic setting, co-op gameplay, and humorous narrative.

The next entry in the series, Borderlands 4, is right around the corner, and the hype is at an all-time high. However, in recent weeks, the Borderlands franchise has been dealing with review bombing on Steam, and the public perception is reaching new lows. What’s going on with these negative reviews? Let’s take a look.

This is why Borderlands is getting review-bombed on Steam

Take a look at the Steam ratings for any Borderlands game right now. You will notice that the recent reviews for the game are “Overwhelmingly Negative .”This is quite shocking, considering the fact that all...

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis star in a trailer with more pop than bubble gum for Freakier Friday
Image
The older I get, the more I realize that neither my parents nor teachers properly prepared me for the wonders and horrors of adulthood. At 44, bills are gobbling my bank account like Pac-Man eats Power Pellets, and a Nintendo Switch 2 costs nearly $900 Canadian. Inflation, baby! If I had switched bodies with an adult back in the day, it could have provided some much-needed perspective about the crushing reality of middle age. Today, Disney is ready to make people across the age spectrum feel the burn with its latest trailer for Freakier Friday, the long-awaited sequel to the 2003 comedy starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The upcoming cinematic romp brings the bodyswap mechanic back with style as the switcharoo magic extends to other members of the Coleman family. In addition to the Freakier Friday trailer, Disney dropped a new poster for the film featuring Lohan and Curtis mugging for the...

Ty Simpkins in Insidious (2010)
Haley Bennett reportedly offered the lead role in Insidious 6
Ty Simpkins in Insidious (2010)
Back in January of 2022, we heard that Insidious franchise creator James Wan was producing a “Back to the Future meets Aliens” project that was set to be written and directed by Jeremy Slater, creator of the The Exorcist television series and head writer on the Marvel / Disney+ show Moon Knight. As the Wan / Blumhouse collaboration Insidious: The Red Door, the fifth film in that series, made its way out into the world in 2023, it was revealed that Slater’s movie was a spin-off called Thread: An Insidious Tale, which had Mandy Moore (This Is Us) and Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) on board to star in it. That movie never seemed to go into production, but last year Sony announced an August 29, 2025 release date for the next Insidious movie – not Thread, but Insidious 6. That project hasn’t gone into production yet, either. So it wasn’t a surprise to hear Sony was...

Randy Pitchford Is Making Strange Comparisons on X, and We Believe It Concerns Borderlands 4
Image
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is bringing attention to himself on social media again. But this time, it’s not about game prices or apologies. Why did he ask us if good reviews or hours played were a better metric for judging the quality of games?

Borderlands 4 has a lot riding on its back, given the recent drama with not just Pitchford but also with the review bombing of the Borderlands games on Steam. These questions are probably related to the upcoming game, but what exactly is the purpose here? Guess we’ll have to wait and find out.

Why is Randy Pitchford asking fans these questions?

Over the past few days, Pitchford has been polling his X (formerly Twitter) followers about what makes one game “better” than another. In one poll, he asked us whether “positive user reviews” or “high actual play time” is a more accurate indicator of game quality.

Baba Yaga (1973)
Ballerina early Thursday previews dance around $3.5 million at the box office
Baba Yaga (1973)
The Baba Yaga’s legacy continues as a new Continental resident hits the screens with Ballerina. Ana De Armas follows up her impressive action scene in No Time to Die with a full-blown action vehicle that’s set in the John Wick universe. Our Eic Chris Bumbray had a blast with the movie, saying in his review, “Ballerina is one of the more satisfying franchise spin-offs in recent memory. In this era of IP, every studio is desperate to max out the potential sequels and spinoffs their key franchises can handle, and Lionsgate has a whole slew planned around the John Wick franchise. Yet, what makes Ballerina different is that this doesn’t feel like much of a derivative of the franchise.”

While this isn’t a true Keanu Reeves film, he’s been a big part of the marketing in order to entice audiences who yearn for more Wick...

Lionsgate Boss’ Comment Could Mean John Wick and Hunger Games Will Soon be AI
Image
Lionsgate hasn’t exactly been in the best shape, especially after several setbacks in 2024, including the Borderlands fiasco and the bombing of Henry Cavill’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. However, amidst its box-office misses, the studio faced major scrutiny in the wake of its deal with an AI startup, Runway Partners.

Moreover, it appears the studio is eyeing a deal with Runaway, and some of its biggest and most revered IPs may not be out of its reach.

Can't Wait For Borderlands 4? Get This Underrated Borderlands Spin-Off Game For Free Right Now
Image
Players eagerly waiting for Borderlands 4’s release later this year don’t need to wait without anything to play, as an underrated Borderlands spin-off game is free, but for a limited time. The next installment in the looter-shooter franchise is set to arrive for PC and consoles in September, bringing forth brand-new gameplay opportunities with modded weapons, flashy abilities, and the staple toxic humor for which the series is known. The game is still a few months away, so players will still have to wait a few months before controlling Borderlands 4’s new Vault Hunters.

However, it is possible to spend time immersed in the franchise with a spin-off game that is currently free. Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, released in 2022, is now free for PC via Epic Games Store, though the game can only be claimed until June 5. The Borderlands spin-off game can be claimed completely free of charge during the period,...

James Cameron Will Take on Best-Selling Novel 'The Devils' Following 'Avatar: Fire and Ash'
Image
After Avatar: Fire and Ash, James Cameron will venture out of Pandora. The acclaimed filmmaker took to Facebook today to announce that his company, Lightstorm Entertainment, had acquired the rights to Joe Abercrombie's recently released dark fantasy, The Devils. Cameron will co-write a screen adaptation alongside Abercrombie. This marks a significant pivot for Cameron, as the Avatar saga will continue with two more planned sequels following Fire and Ash, which are scheduled for releases in 2029 and 2031.

The Devils will follow Cameron's third anticipated Avatar feature, which will land in theaters in December. According to the dark fantasy novel's description, The Devils follows Brother Diaz, who "has been summoned to the Sacred City, where he is certain a commendation and grand holy assignment awaits him. James Cameron to Co-Write Adaptation of Joe Abercrombie Novel ‘The Devils’
Image
James Cameron announced that his company Lightstorm Entertainment has acquired the rights to “The Devils,” a new book by author and screenwriter Joe Abercrombie, for which Cameron will co-write an adaptation for the screen.

The book is a dark fantasy novel that draws from classic horror tropes. It follows a priest on a holy assignment who discovers the mission he serves is filled with murderers, dark magicians, and monsters, meaning that if any of them are to reach God, it will require bloody means. The book just released last month and hit #1 in the UK and #5 on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

“How do I describe ‘The Devils?’ A sharply witty horror adventure? An epic battle between good and evil except most of the time you can’t tell which is which? A twisted, stylish, alt-universe middle-ages romp, where your best hope of survival is the monsters themselves?...

'The Legend of Zelda' Movie Reportedly Wants Hunter Schafer as Princess Zelda
Image
When it comes to video game movies, The Legend of Zelda is easily among the most anticipated, and the titular character might have been cast. Despite The Legend of Zelda typically following the hero Link, the series is named after Princess Zelda, the Hylian princess of the kingdom of Hyrule and the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom. The feature film adaptation, set to be directed by Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball, is slated for release on Mar. 26, 2027, meaning casting is about to pick up.

Scooper Daniel Richtman, via Game Fragger, says that Hunter Schafer is being eyed to play the role of Zelda. Schafer is best known for her role as Jules Vaughn on the HBO series Euphoria. Her other credits include Kinds of Kindness, The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Cuckoo. Neither Nintendo nor Sony Pictures has commented on the rumored casting choice.

Randy Pitchford Claims ‘Borderlands 4′ Price Comments Were “a Misunderstanding,” Is Humbled by the Fans’ Support
Image
Borderlands 4 is officially coming out on September 12, 2025, and the long-awaited mainline sequel has fans very, very excited. The fans are eagerly awaiting the game’s release after seeing the released images and videos.

But while the game is projected to do well at this point, a lingering question about the game’s price still remains, especially with the market being as volatile as it is now, and many publishers raising their prices.

The game’s boss, Randy Pitchford, recently caused even more controversy when he said that “real fans” would pay even $80 for the game, but he now claims that it was not a stab at the fans and that it was a misunderstanding.

‘Real Fan’ Backlash: Borderlands Review Bombing Continues Despite Pitchford’s Apology
Image
Gearbox Software’s highly anticipated Borderlands 4 has yet to hit store shelves, but it’s already knee deep in controversy. Last week, Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Software, picked a fight against the entire gaming community by saying that “real fans” would buy the game regardless of a $80 price tag.

This seems to have triggered a whole chain of reactions because the entire Borderlands trilogy has gotten review-bombed on Steam. But not just because of his words. Publisher Take-Two apparently made changes to the End User License Agreement for the games that didn’t sit well with fans. What is the next move for Take-Two and Gearbox?

Borderlands 4 has started a whole mess for the franchise

It all began last week when we saw Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, respond to a fan expressing concern about a potential $80 price tag for Borderlands 4. Pitchford defended the potential price tag by saying, “If you’re a real fan,...

Hot Ted star describes psycho thriller as fun, scary, female version of Superbad
Ariana Greenblatt
Around four weeks ago, it was announced that Ariana Greenblatt of Barbie, 65, and Borderlands, Billy Magnussen of No Time to Die, Road House, and The Franchise, and Ella Purnell of Fallout, Yellowjackets, and Army of the Dead had signed on to star in the “riotous” comedy thriller Hot Ted, which will mark the feature directorial debut of Saturday Night Live segment director Hannah Levy. At the time, Levy said the project is “a psychosexual thriller as imagined by virgins. Mean Girls meets American Psycho.” Now, Magnussen has shared another description, calling Hot Ted a fun, scary, female version of Superbad.

Scripted by Grace McLeod, Hot Ted has the following synopsis: When 16-year-old true-crime podcast enthusiast Zoe’s (Greenblatt) parents send her to Camp Shady Pines for the summer against her will, she’s the immediate black sheep of the Beaver Cabin. Borderlands 4 At $80 Won't Be A Problem For "A Real Fan," Randy Pitchford Says
Image
With consumers dreading a new normal of $80 games, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford gave a controversial response to concerns that the company's Borderlands 4 might be sold at that high price point. Last week, after Pitchford shared Nintendo's "Creator's Voice" video about Borderlands 4 on X, a user replied to him, making a plea to make sure the game is not priced at $80. Pitchford directly responded to the post, and fans jumped on his response.

Borderlands 4 is not available to pre-order yet, and the suggested retail price has yet to be determined.

X user @oldgoldsot said to Pitchford that an $80 retail price was a risk and that people wouldn't pay it, insisting that he has influence on the price. Pitchford responded (via IGN) by saying that it's "not [his] call" on how much Borderlands 4 costs, and that "If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen." He...

Knock Knock | Eli Roth is producing another remake, this time in German
Image
A decade on, Borderlands director Eli Roth plans to return to his thriller Knock Knock – this time with a German remake.

For a relatively obscure, low-budget thriller, 1977’s Death Game has had a remarkably long afterlife. It was remade in 1980 under the title Vicious And Nude, and then again by director and co-writer Eli Roth, this time as Knock Knock, in 2015.

A decade on, and Roth has plans to re-tell the home invasion nail-biter once more: Variety reports that he’s set to produce a German-language remake of Knock Knock through his new company, The Horror Section. It’s all part of a deal recently made with the German production company, Construction Film.

Announced earlier this year, The Horror Section is an independent studio that will make ‘uncut, hardcore’ genre films, as well as TV, games and podcasts. By the sounds of things, it has a number of feature ideas...

Nell Verlaque says they will attempt to film Thanksgiving 2 this year and she requested to Eli Roth that she get tortured and covered in blood
Nell Verlaque in Thanksgiving : La Semaine de l'horreur (2023)
Thanksgiving star Nell Verlaque is excited to get back to the dinner table for another serving. Eli Roth’s schedule has been filling up considerably lately (possibly to wash his mouth out after Borderlands). Next up for Roth is the slasher film The Ice Cream Man. Additionally, his Knock Knock will be getting a German remake and, as part of a deal with Construction Films, he’ll also be directing Final Cut, a giallo-style feature that will star German actress Veronica Ferres, who founded the studio. A sequel to his Grindhouse-trailer-turned-feature was in the cards, but it will be starting much sooner than you think.

Variety reports that Nell Verlaque revealed that filming on Thanksgiving 2 is attempting to commence this year. Verlaque told the publication that she’s read parts of the screenplay and shared that her and Roth bounced ideas off each other. She explained, “I would...

A Steven Spielberg Hero Gave Us The First Ever Movie Video Game
Image
We're about to see a heck of lot more video game movies. The superhero genre, which proved to be Hollywood's most powerful weapon in wrenching kids away from their iPads and YouTube for more than a decade, is waning. Meanwhile, the industry continues its struggle to adapt to the streaming age in a pandemic era where people are really only attending the multiplex for event films. But with "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" becoming one of the highest-grossing films ever and "A Minecraft Movie" also crushing it at the box office, it seems video games are the new superheroes.

"Five Nights at Freddy's," the "Sonic" movies, and even "Fallout" and "The Last of Us" on the TV side of things. This is the new era we find ourselves in, where video game IP becomes the new font for all Hollywood's ideas. But this is very much the reverse of how...

It’s Not Borderlands, the Worst Video Game Movie Stars Christian Slater With a Horrendous 1% Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
The video game curse strikes again! While gamers and movie fans alike are still reeling from the spectacular failure of Borderlands at the box office, it’s worth remembering that Hollywood’s obsession with adapting interactive entertainment has produced far worse results.

The Eli Roth-directed Borderlands adaptation starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart may have crashed and burned with a dismal 10% Rotten Tomatoes score, but it’s practically Oscar-worthy compared to the absolute bottom of the video game movie barrel.

That dubious honor belongs to a film so terrible, it makes Borderlands look like a masterpiece.

When you’re alone in the dark, the real horror is the movie itself

Long before Borderlands disappointed audiences worldwide, a pioneering survival horror game called Alone in the Dark revolutionized gaming in 1992. This groundbreaking title featured 3D characters against pre-rendered backgrounds and established many conventions that would later define the horror genre in games like Resident Evil.

Deadpool 2 director in talks to helm Gears of War movie for Netflix
Image
Netflix is adapting the video game series Gears of War into a movie. We don't have all the details yet, but The Hollywood Reporter has it that David Leitch is in talks to direct.

Leitch has a lot of action movie bona fides. In addition to helming movies like Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw, and The Fall Guy, he was a kind of shadow director alongside Chad Stahelski on the original John Wick movie. He's also a former stuntman. The guy knows action!

And he'd get plenty of it in Gears of War. There have been nearly 10 Gears of War games released since the original came out back in 2006. There's a ton of lore and backstory Netflix could draw on, but the thrust is that you play as a super-buff, gritty guy named Marcus Fenix who kills bug aliens and kills them good. The game series became famous for a...

"It's Pretty Astonishing": Gearbox CEO Pitchford Says Switch 2 Is "Perfect" For Borderlands 4
Image
The social elements of Borderlands 4 make it the perfect game for the Switch 2, according to the game's developers. The fourth game in the Borderlands franchise might take players to a brand-new planet, but it's keeping many of the elements fans love about the looter-shooter. This September, fans will be able to pick up their explosive guns, call up their spectral companions, and expand the lore of the Vaults and their treasure hunters together with their friends and family, no matter where they are in the world.

In a Creator's Voice interview for the Nintendo of America YouTube channel, founder and president of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford and Chief Creative Officer Randy Varnell shared how they believe the social aspects of Borderlands 4 make it a great game for Nintendo's upcoming console, the Switch 2. Black Bag Blu-ray Release: Bring Home One of the Year’s Best Movies
Image
Check out FandomWire’s full review of Black Bag here.

Steven Soderbergh delivers a rare double-whammy, dropping two fantastic directorial efforts early in the year and getting 2025 off to a strong start. Presence redefined the haunted house genre, putting audiences into the viewpoint of an entity living inside a home newly occupied by a family and giving a unique perspective into the familial drama. Just two months later he gave us Black Bag, a seemingly traditional spy story elevated by Soderbergh’s masterful filmmaking and two superb lead performances.

When George Woodhouse is tasked with tracking down a traitor and mole within his unit of elite spies, it seems like a relatively straightforward assignment. But when he’s given a list of five suspects, he’s surprised to see the name of his wife, Kathryn St. Jean, included.

Eli Roth claims his next movie will be even more terrifying than Hostel
Image
Horror filmmaker Eli Roth is ready to develop his next terrifying movie. While we wait for the follow-up to 2023's holiday slasher Thanksgiving, it looks like Roth is setting his sights onto a new project called Ice Cream Man.

Media Capital Technologies (McT) and Roth's own independent studio The Horror Section will fully finance the film (via Variety). Given that Roth is relatively well-known in the filmmaking world, it might come as a surprise that his movie is getting the indie production treatment, but when you learn more about Ice Cream Man, you'll understand why.

Notably, he claims it will likely be his "most terrifying and insane film to date." And considering this is the man that brought us the Hostel franchise, that's saying something.

The first Hostel is still considered one of the most disturbing horror movies ever made, perhaps most infamously for the graphic eyeball torture scene that happens near the end.

Borderlands 4 Reportedly One-Upping Starfield and Its Not Even Out Yet
Image
Borderlands 4 is scheduled to be released later this year, and the developers promised a smooth experience. Modern video games are meant to feature the flashiest of graphics and fast load times, and Gearbox Studios ensured this project has all of this in spades, unlike some other projects with wasted potential.

Gearbox Studios Assured Fans That Loading Screens Are Nonexistent in Borderlands 4 The Borderlands franchise took notes from the shortcomings of other games. Image Credit: Gearbox Studios

Gearbox Studios revealed that Borderlands 4 will be its biggest game to date, and promised that everything the players see will be explorable. The story is set in Kairos, a new planet to the franchise, and is said to be the home of the Timekeeper. Players can freely explore as far as the eye can see and see everything the planet has to offer without restrictions or limitations.

While the promise of a large open-world sandbox sounds appealing,...

Borderlands 4: Best Settings for Rtx 5090, 5070, 5070 Ti, 4090, 4070, 4070 Ti
Image
Borderlands 4 is the upcoming entry in the Borderlands franchise, and should be quite a treat for the fan base. Interestingly, Gearbox Software has decided to switch on over to Unreal Engine 5 this time around, which could complicate performance a bit.

As such, there might be a few issues with the game running on Nvidia’s latest and greatest Rtx 5000 series, given the rather demanding nature of the game engine. The game is still a few months out, but we can most certainly speculate on its requirements and settings.

Why optimizing settings matters in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 has been confirmed to be an Unreal Engine 5-based title, which can be a bit concerning. Unreal Engine games are infamous for their poor performance, which seems to be getting worse with each iterative update.

Ice Cream Man | Eli Roth to direct a “terrifying and insane” horror film
Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, and Eli Roth in La Prophétie de l'horloge (2018)
Neapolitan soft scoop has never been more terrifying, as Eli Roth prepares to make his “insane” horror film, Ice Cream Man.

It’s probably fair to say that Eli Roth found little success with Borderlands, his highly expected videogame adaptation that bombed at both the box office and with critics. This writer didn’t mind the film, but it does seem that Roth is more comfortable working in horror than action blockbusters.

Roth is set to return to horror with Ice Cream Man: a new, original movie idea he’s been working on for over 20 years, as Variety notes.

Roth has written the script and will direct, but plot details are being kept under wraps, though it sounds likely that Roth is back on similar darkly comic territory to his 2023 movie, Thanksgiving.

All we currently know is that there will be ice cream and there will be blood. Roth...

Based on all the media that's been released so far, the game will include plenty of new friends and enemies, paired with the trademark humor and style that has made this series so well-loved.

The cosplay community has wasted no time in creating likenesses of the new Vault Hunters, even though not much is known about them for now. One stunningly accurate cosplay was shared by Reddit user jessilyncupcake, who has been portraying the character since she was originally introduced. Reacher Star Alan Ritchson Played A Crucial Role In Casting One Important Character
Image
"Reacher" became a huge hit for Prime Video when it debuted in 2022, breaking records on the streamer by topping the Nielsen streaming charts. When season 2 arrived, however, some fans felt let down by the fact the show jumped ahead in the original book series, introducing Jack Reacher's former 110th Special Investigations Unit before audiences had a real chance to learn more about the ex-military policeman on his own. Thankfully, season 3 of "Reacher" fixed the biggest problems with season 2, and much of that was down to star Alan Ritchson.

The 6-foot 3-inch, 235-pound Ritchson has been committed to giving fans the best version of Jack Reacher possible ever since he went through a grueling eight-month audition process that originally saw him overlooked in favor of another actor. After landing the role, Ritchson came to embody the giant man mountain of Lee Child's original book series in a way that Tom Cruise,...

A Steven Spielberg Classic Gave Rise To The Worst Video Game In History
Image
As the once-reliable superhero genre has loosened its iron grip on moviegoers, Hollywood is turning to video games as a source for blockbuster success, and so far it appears to be working. Sure, we've had historic duds such as the biggest bomb of 2024, "Borderlands," but in the wake of "Minecraft" claiming two of the biggest box office weekends of 2025 and "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" becoming one of the 20 biggest films ever, video games look to be the next IP ripe for plundering.

For a long time, of course, things mostly worked the other way: Hollywood would provide the IP and video game developers would do their best with the license. But for the most part, it seemed as though adapting successful films into video games was tough business. There have been so many awful games based on successful movies that fans mostly just accepted that such games were going to be awful.

Joker: Folie à Deux And Kraven The Hunter Made The List Of Biggest Box Office Flops Of 2024
Image
While 2024 delivered its share of blockbuster triumphs, a look at Deadline Hollywood's fiscal year-end analysis reveals the less glamorous side of the industry: the films that likely left studio executives reaching for antacids and pink slips.

Following our previous report on the year's biggest earners, we now delve into the cinematic misfires that failed to recoup their hefty investments.

Topping the list of potential job-security destroyers is none other than Joker: Folie à Deux.

The sequel to the 2019 phenomenon, which famously transformed a modest $55 million production into a staggering $1.079 billion global box office haul, took a decidedly different creative path. For some reason, WB execs greenlit a $200 million budget for director Todd Phillips to helm a musical follow-up. From a financial standpoint, it appears the gamble to drastically alter a successful blueprint "shockingly" didn't resonate with audiences in the same way.

Diving into Deadline's report further unveils a silver lining,...

Ariana Greenblatt
Ariana Greenblatt of Barbie, 65, and Borderlands, Billy Magnussen of No Time to Die, Road House, and The Franchise, and Ella Purnell of Fallout, Yellowjackets, and Army of the Dead have signed on to star in the “riotous” comedy thriller Hot Ted, which will mark the feature directorial debut of Saturday Night Live segment director Hannah Levy. Protagonist Pictures will be launching worldwide sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

The summer takes a turn when their bunk counselor Liz doesn’t arrive for breakfast one morning, and Zoe’s counselor crush Amy (Purnell) tells everyone Liz had to leave for a “family emergency.” But Zoe doesn’t buy...

Nothing But Joy As ‘Inside Out 2’ Is No. 1 Movie In Deadline’s 2024 Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament With $650M In Profit
Image
Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament ends with Pixar Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter ascending the ladder to cut the net as Inside Out 2 is crowned the most profitable movie of 2024 with a net take of $650M.

It was a year when Disney made a major comeback at the box office, becoming the first studio post-pandemic to exceed $5 billion at the global box office. And that, per sources, always is great thing for the overall box office, creating an all-boats-rise type of scenario. Last year, Disney had one film in the profitability top 10, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, and four bombs in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Haunted Mansion, Wish and The Marvels. This year, the studio counted the top three most profitable titles with Inside Out 2, No. 2 with Moana 2 and No. 3 with Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine — the prescription for superhero fatigue. It also scored the No.

Don't Let The Box Office Fool You: Until Dawn Isn't A Flop
Image
It was, all things considered, a substantial weekend at the box office. For the first time in a very long time, four different movies made $20 million or more on the same weekend, which seemed unthinkable during the worst moments of the early pandemic era. Unfortunately, Sony Pictures' video game film adaptation "Until Dawn," which takes its name from the beloved horror video game of the same name, was not one of those movies. All the same, let's hit the brakes before we call it a flop.

Director David F. Sandberg's "Until Dawn" had to settle for fifth place this weekend domestically with $8 million, with Ryan Coogler's' "Sinners" topping the box office charts with a stellar $45 million in its second frame. Behind that was the 20th anniversary re-release of "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" ($25.2 million), "The Accountant 2" ($24.4 million), and "A Minecraft Movie" ($22.7 million). Only then do we get to Sandberg's latest,...

Adam Driver Recalls How the 'Best Piece of Direction' He Ever Received Was for Infamous Razzie-Winning Flop
Image
Francis Ford Coppola’s 2024 film Megalopolismay have failed to become a box office success, but one of the movie’s actors says that while making the sci-fi epic, he received the best direction he’s ever heard on set. Adam Driver(Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens) paid tribute to Coppola at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on April 26 as the Oscar-winning director received AFI’s 50th Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute.

Per Deadline, Driver called Coppola one of his “cinematic heroes” and talked about working with The Godfather director on Megalopolis. Driver starred in the film, which Coppola self-funded after first coming up with the idea back in 1983, as Cesar Catilina.

Driver called Coppola “A theater director who brought his process to film and revolutionized how we think about cinema, and certainly how we make it.” He continued, “His movies, for some, are...

Jamie Lee Curtis to executive produce Darkly series for Blumhouse Television
Image
Despite being heralded as one of the most iconic scream queens of all time after playing Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise, Jamie Lee Curtis once claimed that she didn't like horror movies. However, she sure loves being part of them!

Not only did Curtis return for Blumhouse's Halloween reboot trilogy, but she also recently joined the cast of new film Return to Sender with Late Night with the Devil star David Dastmalchian. Next, Deadline reports that the actress will executive produce a television show for Blumhouse based on Marisha Pessl's bestselling novel Darkly.

Released in November 2024, Darkly is a YA mystery thriller novel published by Penguin Random House. It is about a girl named Arcadia "Dia" Gannon and her obsession with a series of intriguingly terrifying games and toys designed by the Darkly empire. Sega Arcade Game 'Outrun' Is Being Made Into a Movie by Michael Bay & Sydney Sweeney
Image
Michael Bay is used to turning popular IPs into mind-numbing action spectaculars, and it looks like he is about to get in on the current trend of big video game successes. A new report from Deadline has revealed that Universal is looking to capitalize on the wave of popular video game movies such as Minecraft, and the ever-present love of nostalgia among moviegoers by tapping Bay to direct and produce a big-screen version of Sega’s 1986 racing game, Outrun.

Seemingly along for the ride will be Sydney Sweeney, the epitome of the kind of blonde bombshell that graced the cover of the video game when it was released. Toru Nakahara will produce for Sega and Sega Corporation president/COO Shuji Utsumi will oversee the project on behalf of Sega. Polar and Arachnid scribe Jayson Rothwell is penning the script, but the story is currently being kept under wraps. It’s a racing game.

Eli Roth Claymation Series 'The Rotten Fruit' Available to Stream
Image
Did you know that multi-hyphenated actor/writer/director/producer Eli Roth has also dabbled in claymation? Way back in 2000, the Inglourious Basterds star and director of such horror hits as Hostel, Cabin Fever, and Thanksgiving, teamed up with his friend Noah Belson to create an eight-episode series of shorts about a bunch of music-playing fruits called The Rotten Fruit. And while the now-defunct Z.com show only premiered three of the eight total episodes, short film platform WeShort has made them all available for the first time in 25 years.

In a new interview with IndieWire, Roth and Belson reminisced about the web series' creation while the duo were down and out, budding Hollywood hopefuls. Childhood friends from Newton, Massachusetts, the duo also explained their hopes to revive the series and turn it into something bigger and more akin to a modern satire. "Give us 25 more years, maybe," Belson — whom many...
