Killjoy's Psycho Circus

Killjoy's Psycho Circus (2016) is currently streaming on Tubi. The film offers a broad overview of Killjoy's journey to Earth, where he terrorizes people, often leading them to gruesome fates. Along with his twisted friends, each with their own motives, they wreak havoc. But will they encounter anyone clever enough to stop them?

Directed by John Lechago (Feast of Fear) and starring Trent Haaga (Deathcember), Victoria De Mare (Beyond the Law), Robin Sydney (The Gingerbread Man), and Al Burke (The Wedding Singer).

This is the final Killjoy movie available for free on Tubi. Unfortunately, Full Moon delivers another disappointment, as this film is essentially a mash-up montage of the first five movies with no new content. The problem is even more glaring due to how different movies 1-2 were from 3-5. There's really no reason to watch this movie, but I still recommend the series as a whole. I'd give this a 1/10 and suggest skipping it unless you're a diehard fan of the franchise.

Plot

Killjoy, the demon of vengeance, trickster god and killer clown has finally made it to Earth! Along with his gruesome crew Freakshow, Punchy and the sexy/psychotic Batty Boop, Killjoy is free to terrorize mortals in new and excruciating ways. But two years down the road Killjoy discovers that life on Earth is a drag, filled with inconveniences such as eating, breathing, taxes and immigration issues. His crew has left for other jobs, and Batty Boop has gone her own way after a bitter lover's quarrel. Not to mention that Killjoy is now semi-mortal! Meanwhile, back in hell, Beelzebub is on trial for letting Killjoy escape. The only way that Beelzebub can redeem himself is to trap Killjoy's spirit and bring it back in a box. For this mission he is granted a monumental spaceship capable of destroying entire cities! Killjoy has finally settled in, starring in his own web series called PSYCHO CIRCUS, as well as running a movie and merchandise company with the notorious Hambo the Ranch Hand. The challenges of being a producer are nothing compared to the challenges of staying alive after Beelzebub's assassins appear to kill the demon clown and capture his spirit. Killjoy will have to find a way to reunite his gang of clowns in order to defeat Beelzebub and his minions! It all comes together in an epic battle in KILLJOY'S PSYCHO CIRCUS!

Verdict

I remember once upon a time I appreciated Full Moon movies, they were hokey, ugly but they had a certain novelty factor about them and a charm that couldn't be denied. What went wrong?

Having already seen all the other Killjoy movies it took me years to find a copy of Psycho Circus, it eluded me for a longtime. Based on what had come before it I assumed the worst and I got it.

Another nonsensical silly unfunny and now with approximately 0% horror this though not the worst of the series is still an embarrasing effort that accomplishes nothing, has no charm, weak kills and just seems to serve no purpose! I'd argue this is more Troma than it is Full Moon.

Truly awful stuff.

Who is this aimed at? No seriously, it's not horror, the comedy certainly doesn't cater to adults so who is it for? I honestly get the impression this is what passes as an R rated movie for the under-aged. You remember back in the day when you were a kid and sneakily watched movies you shouldn't, they were often terrible but you thought they were amazing because you didn't know any better and you might spot a nipple? This is that kind of film.

Breakdown

Good to see the original cast back Unfunny Remarkably stupid in places.

Living on Earth after his escape, the demonic clown and his posse find that their current lives hosting a cable-access TV show has to be halted when one of his former associates wants to avenge his previous encounter and tries to save himself and his friends from the relentless pursuer.

This here is yet another of the series' utterly enjoyable cheesy efforts. The fact that this one carries on with the utter insanity and goofiness that was prevalent before once again here, and is literally drowning in the sea of cheesiness of ideas. Using the central concept of now forcing the devil to have to do some dirty work to regain his status in Hell makes for a quite silly notion in it's own right as it's based upon the notion of what's going to happen here in his quest to bring him back as there's more of this typically insane stylings here with the concept of his cable-access show which enables more of that slapstick humor to come through here. From the concept of the show and how they play themselves out in his skits and torments of his guests makes for quite a hilarious time, and along with the his backstage banter with the posse as they not only bemoan the fate of the show and what they want to do, but also manage to refer to their past lives escaping from Hell which is the springboard into his search for them that retains a vast majority of the film here. Not only are those just so funny as well as providing this with some solid action scenes along the way, from the nuking of the city through the news program but there's also the shots of him rallying his fan-club behind him that turns into a firefight with the bounty hunters, the boarding of the rocket ship and the space fight between their ships which manages to be quite a cheesy action sequence that falls in line with all the usually insane moments found here by giving this the kind of sequences that have become prominent in the franchise. The finale on the ship, with the big effects-filled fight and the one-on-one final battle between the two makes for a wholly enjoyable and thrilling finish here that still gets the proper feeling of the franchise filled nicely. These here really make this one quite fun and enjoyable, even if there's a detrimental factor with this one. The biggest issue here is that there's not a whole lot of action in the first half as the focus on their show and the backstage antics which are still fun might not be filled with the kind of scary antics that are found here. This is a fun time but there's no really scary actions featured within it, and it's something to be dealt with here which is also found in the rather heavy dose of cheese that permeates this. It's not a feature that all will appreciate here, and these features are about the only thing wrong here.

Killjoy goes to hell is better movie. And that does not say to mush. This not a good movie at all. It is not scary. It not very well written. Do not see it. killjoy 3 the demon clown is a very scary movie and this is not.
