Hollywood has been revisiting a lot of ‘90s teen horror franchises lately, from the new Scream movies, to the I Know What You Did Last Summer TV show, to the Jurassic World series that clearly took its cues from the Denise Richards classic Tammy and the T-Rex.
Now it’s just been announced that Idle Hands is getting a remake (even though it was basically already a remake of that one scene from Army of Darkness).
The new Idle Hands is penned by Billy Bryk and Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger Things fame), and it will be produced by Jason Reitman. Presumably, a story about demonic possession will be a pleasant change of pace for Reitman after the hellish nightmare that is Saturday Night Live’s backstage politics.

Megan Leavey is an uplifting film that tells the story of a young Marine corporal, Megan Leavey (Kate Mara) who develops a bond with Rex (Varco), a dual-certified working dog (meaning Rex was used for both bomb detection and patrol). They work together for two deployments in Iraq, where they are both injured by a bomb. Leavey is awarded medals, and, at the end of the film, Leavey successfully fights to adopt Rex after his bomb-sniffing days end. The film is based on a true story, and for the most part sticks to it, but as is the case in most films based on a true story, Megan Leavey also embellishes (or outright ignores) the facts.

Prime Video has touted the viewer response to Fallout as its second-biggest series ever worldwide over 16 days of release. In the United States (and over a shorter time period), it’s No. 1.
Fallout recorded 2.9 billion minutes of viewing time in the U.S. over its first five days, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings for April 8-14. That’s far and away the best opening for a series on the Amazon-owned Prime Video, beating Reacher’s series premiere week in early 2022 (1.84 billion minutes) by more than a billion minutes.
The series also had more than double the second-place show on the list for the week: Bluey had 1.39 billion minutes of viewing in the week leading up to and including the release of its special episode “The Sign,” which premiered on April 14.

Harry Potter star Tom Felton was a very popular name during his time in the much-beloved franchise where he played fan-favorite character Draco Malfoy. He made a big impression among fans with his antagonistic portrayal of the character over 8 films but since the end of the film, he has not done anything significant up to that level since the franchise’s end.
Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone
The next decade saw him appear in supporting roles in films like Belle, Risen, Megan Leavey, and A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, but he was not the standout in any of them. Fans are already concerned that his movie career is fading away while Felton on the other hand, is venturing into his musical side of him and recently released an album. But fans are not happy with this and are totally eviscerating his album.

“Kung Fu Panda 4” (Universal) debuted on PVOD to #1 April 9, which it has enjoyed for a week; that will end with “Dune: Part 2” (Warner Bros.), which debuts today after 46 days in release.
Both films still are in the box office Top 10. “Panda” actually rose one position to #4 this weekend, with its 29 percent drop the lowest of any holdover on the list. It still has a shot at a $200 million domestic gross. “Dune 2,” which was #5 this weekend and will get close to $300 million, will likely minimize the impact of parallel home availability given its essential visual presentation.
Based on presales, “Dune 2” is already #6 on iTunes top 10 list (ranked by transactions). Other platforms stick to currently available titles, but it would be surprising if it’s not immediately #1 on both iTunes and Fandango.

October 10, 2023, marks the end of an era, as long-time anime merchandise platform Right Stuf shuts down and migrates its products to Crunchyroll's online store. After providing competitive prices for decades, the closure of the online shop is a shock. The move comes as Crunchyroll continues to seek new avenues to expand its online services.
Right Stuf, which has operated since 1987, has provided DVDs, Blu-rays, figurines, manga, and various other products for sale and delivery. Washington, Aug 31 (Ians) A team of NASA scientists is in the final stages of preparing for the arrival of the first US asteroid sample — slated to land on Earth in September on Osiris-REx spacecraft.
Osiris-REx, the first US mission to collect a sample from an asteroid, will return to Earth on September 24 with material from asteroid Bennu. It is carrying an estimated 8.8 ounces of rocky material collected from the surface of the asteroid Bennu in 2020.
A mockup of an Osiris-REx sample capsule was dropped on Wednesday from an aircraft and landed at the drop zone at the Department of Defense’s Utah Test and Training Range in the desert outside Salt Lake City. This was part of the mission’s final major test prior to the arrival of the actual capsule.

After world premiering to critical acclaim at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, Ld Entertainment’s sci-fi thriller I.S.S. starring West Side Story Oscar winner Ariana DeBose has been picked up for U.S. release by Bleecker Street. The film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite from Nick Shafir’s script will hit theaters nationwide at a date that has not been disclosed.
I.S.S. marks Bleecker’s second collaboration with Cowperthwaite following 2017’s Megan Leavey, and its fourth with Ld, which in addition to that true-life military drama, produced their films Anthropoid and Teen Spirit from Sean Ellis and Max Minghella, respectively. The film follows two crews of scientists — one group American, the other Russian — aboard the International Space Station, as they conduct research towards the betterment of humanity. Time may be an ever-flowing river, but it's hard to believe it's been 30 years since the first (and best) "Jurassic Park" movie graced the big screen. Universal Products & Experiences and Amblin Entertainment knew just how to market/commemorate the occasion, however, and set up an immersive experience at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The experience is replete with more than a few photo opportunities from some of the film's most memorable moments as well as the chance to nosh on some dino-shaped chicken nuggets while buying some 30th-anniversary merchandise via Amazon.
I had the chance to walk through the attraction, appropriately titled "Step Into Jurassic Park," and — after having a nice meet-and-greet with a baby raptor at the door — was eager to follow in the footsteps of doctors Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant, Malcolm Reynolds, and yes, even that asshat of a lawyer, Donald Gennaro, as they enter through the gates...

While the Cold War has long been over a second one brews between the USA and Russia inside “I.S.S.,” Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s frustratingly broad yet stylish space thriller that just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Considering the growing political tensions between the two countries today, this is a movie one might be tempted to adorn with adjectives such as “timely” and “urgent.” Except “I.S.S.”—a title inexplicably fashioned with three periods—is too generic a genre exercise to matter, one that vaguely orbits notions such as trust, selflessness, teamwork and the hazards of blind nationalism with the most simplistic messages to transmit about them.
Working from a Blacklist script by debuting screenwriter Nick Shafir, Cowperthwaite’s pressure-cooker outing is set sometime in the near future, introducing us via an efficient title card to the brief history of the International Space Station (Iss), founded decades ago...

A new trailer for the sequel to The Meg has been revealed, and somehow they’ve managed to add a T-Rex to this franchise.
“It was the summer of 2018. A movie starring Jason Statham and a giant shark hit theaters and those who saw it generally enjoyed it. That film, The Meg, went on to gross over $500 million worldwide, if you can believe it, and work soon began on a sequel. That sequel is coming to theaters in August and now has its first trailer.”

Pixar's movies are often littered with crossover references, but one Easter egg's story that isn't as well-known is the appearance of Toy Story's Rex in Monsters Inc. Whenever Toy Story's Andy played with his toys on-screen Rex the dinosaur was always the terrifying monster that needed to be taken down by the good guys, Woody and Buzz. Yet when Rex came to life, he was known for being friendly, nervous, and clumsy; in other words, nothing like the kaiju-like beast that Andy thought he was.
Monsters Inc. played with Rex's ironic personality by temporarily casting him in the role of Ted the monster in one of Monsters Inc.'s "outtakes." As Mike and Sulley made their way to work early on in Monsters Inc., they found themselves standing by the giant scaly leg of Ted at a pedestrian crossing, and Sulley shouted a greeting at him. To anyone familiar with pop-culture monsters,...

Tom Felton addresses rumors that he was once in the running to play Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Felton was a very young actor when he was cast as Slytherin bully Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. He would go on to portray the same character in all the subsequent Harry Potter movies, ending with 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
Then after portraying bad guy Draco Malfoy for over a decade, Felton went on to star in a variety of different movies, including Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Megan Leavey and Ophelia. But according to one internet rumor, the actor was at one time up for a much bigger role in a much bigger movie franchise. Kevin Bacon has finally entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it is in an incredibly surprising way. He will be playing himself in the forthcoming "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" set to premiere on Disney+ on November 25, 2022. Thanks to mergers and multiverses, Bacon technically already is in the MCU, as he played Sebastian Shaw in "X-Men: First Class," but this is his official introduction to the current slate.
Because Bacon will be playing himself, it immediately brings to mind the incredibly fun game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon." The man has appeared in so many films for over 40 years now, in both leading and supporting parts, that it feels like he has worked with every actor out there. Surprisingly, this holiday special will be the first time he has worked with every actor that makes up the Guardians team. That means playing Six Degrees with this cast is pretty fun.

In 2013, Gabriela Cowperthwaite released her last documentary feature, Blackfish, about the captivity of Orcas, especially at SeaWorld. The film directly impacted the attendance and revenue of the theme park. Eventually, SeaWorld and its former CEO James Atchison had to pay more than 5 million to settle federal charges that they covered up the negative impact of the documentary.
Nearly a decade later, after dabbling in narrative with features like 2017’s Megan Leavey and 2019’s Our Friend, Cowperthwaite has returned to non-fiction with The Grab, which had its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. The title, which is up for sale via WME, takes a look at the geopolitical forces behind global land and water rights, and the race for the world’s last farmable land. Ramón Rodríguez has been cast in the lead role of the “Will Trent” drama pilot at ABC.
The pilot had been given a cast contingent order back in February and will now officially move forward, with Rodríguez’s casting lifting the contingency.
Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling “Will Trent” novel series, the pilot follows Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (Gbi). Pixar films notoriously take a long time to make — at least four to seven years. The dedicated animators craft settings and characters with meticulous detail. Sometimes, they like to have a little fun and cleverly sneak in some Easter eggs that aren't always easy to find. Occasionally, the Pixar animators reference other films such as "The Shining" carpet in Sid's house from "Toy Story" or the "Vertigo"-style poster at the Dream Productions studio in "Inside Out." There are usually lots of references made to other Pixar films, like Rex from "Toy Story" hidden in Wall-e's truck or the grape soda bottle cap (a brand featured...

Sean Baker’s “Red Rocket” proved to be another highlight in this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but the person earning real raves is the film’s star, Simon Rex.
American audiences might better know him as Dirt Nasty from the “Scary Movie” franchise of films, but critics have called him “terrific” and “sensational” and said that he has earned his “Uncut Gems” moment for his performance as a washed-up porn star who is trying to groom a younger girl in the art. One Twitter user even suggested that Cannes should award him the Best Actor prize for his work.
“Give Simon Rex the Best Actor award. Sean Baker is a national treasure. I was glued to his twisted red state Americana vision for almost its entire two hours,” critic Jordan Ruimy wrote.

In showbiz, they have awards for everything — Oscars, Golden Globes and, of course, the Palme d’Or. Adult film actor Mikey Davies, aka “Mikey Saber,” has five Avn Awards, and he creates opportunities to humble-brag about them constantly now that he’s back in Texas City, the tiny Gulf Coast town he and girlfriend Lexi left together shortly after high school. They got married, moved to Los Angeles, and made a decent living shooting porn together for a time. But that was roughly 20 years ago, and now, Mikey has fallen on hard times. Or limp times, as the case may be.

Baker isn’t the only director to take up his camera in secret. Steven Soderbergh applied a similar under-the-radar approach while making his upcoming movie “Let Them All Talk,” which will star Meryl Streep and Gemma Chan.
Work on “Red Rocket” commenced as Hollywood and the independent film community that Baker belongs to are trying to find a way to make movies safely during coronavirus. The film has employed industry standard safety protocols.

The Child’s Play movie series has earned plaudits among the Lgbt community for championing gender fluidity in its fifth installment, Seed of Chucky. The 2004 sequel introduced Chucky and Tiffany’s gender-fluid offspring Glen/Glenda, voiced by Lord of the Rings star Billy Boyd, so it wouldn’t be...
