1.Adam Cole came out victorious, as predicted by me last week, at Death Before Dishonor. It’s a well deserved victory for an up and coming star. What that victory, it caps Ring of Honor’s first real attempt at an episodic story line. One legitimate issue I’ve had with Ring of Honor television is the fact that apart from some rudimentary nods to their Pay Per Views, the shows have been random matches that have no real meaning. Wrestling is story telling. If we wanted to see two guys, or ladies, fight, we’d watch Mma. While the story was spotty, the fact they found a way to keep us viewed to the screen every week is a step in the right direction if the company hopes to expand. When the announcement was made that WWE would be releasing an Nxt Greatest Matches Vol. 1 DVD and Blu-Ray, fans – especially those without the benefit of the WWE Network – were excited to have a chance to see current and future WWE superstars in some of the most pivotal bouts of their careers.
The set will be available March 2016, and the DVD features 15 matches from the entire Full Sail era of Nxt, while the Blu-Ray edition adds another 5 matches exclusively.

As a revered legend known the world over, Jushin Liger brings a degree of legitimacy and fan curiosity wherever he goes. His appearance at Nxt TakeOver: Brooklyn was one such occasion, as his inherent drawing power doubtless helped the show. At first, it was thought that this would be his only appearance, however, that might not be true after all.
According to recent reports, Jushin’ Thunder Liger might not be done with WWE. It is alleged that he might be working more dates for the Nxt brand going forward, with some allegations that he might be doing both regular tapings and special events.
If this is true, then it’s a golden opportunity for Nxt to further expand on TakeOver: Brooklyn’s success. Liger can be used in a myriad different ways, teaming up with a regular Nxt superstar, or feuding with one of its stars in singles competition.

With SummerSlam and Nxt TakeOver: Brooklyn in the books, which of the two shows came out on top? SummerSlam definitely had its moments with The New Day winning the tag title, Cesaro/Owens, Jon Stewart costing John Cena his title and the controversial ending to Undertaker/Lesnar, but the show as a whole was fairly average. WWE has trouble filling a 3-hour Raw with intriguing entertainment, so how could they do any better with a 4 hour show?
Well, they couldn’t.
Nxt TakeOver: Brooklyn was a compact ball of energy that rarely let up. From Jushin Liger cracking jokes at Tyler Breeze’s expense to The Vaudevillians capturing the tag team titles for the first time, the entire undercard thoroughly entertained.
Even the arena was more interesting to look at; slight changes to the lighting and use of video boards helped make the product “feel” different.

The shows will take place from December 10 to December 16 with tickets going on sale this Friday, Aug. 28 at 9 Am GMT.

The five-week wait is nearly over. Now all fans need to do is buckle down for a lengthy weekend of wrestling, with WWE turning SummerSlam into a multi-day extravaganza that includes the latest Nxt Takeover special on Saturday, while SummerSlam itself has been turned into a four-hour affair.
Making SummerSlam the “WrestleMania of the Summer” is an interesting concept, and the PPV is stocked with a 10-match card, anchored by a couple really big matches and some potential show-stealers. If the matches deliver and subscription numbers happen to trickle upward, we could see this become a new tradition. Or it could be deemed a failure (much like the 40-man Royal Rumble or the Gobbledy Gooker) and never be seen again.
