Low quality, bad casting

This is one of those movies that are honest up front. Right from the beginning, it's telling you, I'm going to be terrible, and I am going to waste your time.

Thank you for that. How do these movies get produced? There must be such a content demand that people are financing anything and anyone. Plz stop

messy writing

Bear and Cowboy are Marines. They escape ISIS torture and make it all the way back home. Dr. Rev is taking care of Cowboy who is dying from an ISIS injection. He's told that he has three months to live. Bear tries to reconnect with his ex Skyler. Unable to find work, he goes back to mixed martial arts but Coach Bronx (Eric Roberts) refuses to train him.

This is a low budget indie. It's a struggle to find a focus for this film. The leads are not great actors. The movie is split into two stories that don't really connect until the end. It's a bunch of movie ideas being jammed together. I get the idea of sacrifice . It's better to concentrate the story solely on Bear. It may be better for him to be the sole survivor dealing with survivor guilt. Scott Pryor probably piece together this film while writing in the gym. Maybe he should get a scrawny nerdy writer to clean up this film. The fights are fine but I get the sense that it's where most of the effort went into. This wants to be Rocky but the secret of that film is that Sly is actually a good writer.

Subpar failure

There is a promise evident in the first 30 mins but that possibility is cashiered over and over again by embarrassingly bad/unskilled acting by one after another of the lead actors. I'm going to lay the blame on the apparent laziness of the director whose responsibility it was to eke out competency from his lead actors - and he failed abominably. So, 4 out of 10 for strong possibility of the film but SCRATCH really for final impression.

Terrible! Don't waste your time.

This movie is just terrible to watch. Totally unnecessary scene after scene. Don't even know how the lame script would get a nod from the investors to waste their money for nothing. This is a below B-level movie which is further certified the involvement of Eric Roberts, because any film with him in it is doomed to be with bad screenplay, bad directing, bad actors who are most unknown and without acting talent, anything except "Suits", all certified too bad to watch. He's one of the brand names of bad movies. And this time, I wasted about 25 minutes until the realization that I was watching a totally pointless and boring movie. "Inspirational"? as the other reviewer praised? Well, I think watching the ants doing their daily food collecting chore would be more inspirational.

Terrible Film

Badly written, badly acted, badly shot.

An grossly inferior knock off of Warrior.

Save yourself 2 hours - Skip this.

I wish I had been boiled alive in hot vomit than watched this movie...

Genuinely one of the worst films I have ever seen. The acting was so bad, I blacked out from sheer rage and awoke several minutes later to find I had strangled my dog. The abysmal acting was second only to the complete absence of a coherent or relevant plot. I was unable to get more then 25 minutes into this film I am a worse human being for having watched 25 minutes of the utmost highest order of cinematic effluence ever to darken the screen of my TV. I feel I have been fair and balanced in my review.

Not what I expected

I saw this listed as a "more like this" movie on Netflix. It was rated in the 90ish range and I thought it would be alright. The acting is bad..everything is bad. I don't know how movies like this make it into my suggestions. The algorithms used to find movies to suggest definitely were not working correctly. A waste of 94 minutes of my life. I kept watching hoping it would get better. I finished watching because I was curious about how badly a movie like this would end.

Lame Warrior Knockoff

If you are considering this movie, first off do not watch it. Secondly, go watch warrior instead because this is so close to copyright infringement it's crazy. Eric Roberts is usually a decent actor starring as a B film villain, but not in this heartwarming drama which makes lifetime look like paramount pictures. No one else in this movie has a shred of acting talent. If you just want a upbeat movie to watch with the family or you're trying to get some action with the lady and don't want to miss anything of quality, put this on. Otherwise, save yourself the time and agony.

Trash

This movie sucks. I usually only comment on horror scripts because i don't mind watching bad horror flicks. But i read some of thw positive reviews here and I am fairly certain that they are written by people involved with the film, because i can't imagine anyone finding anything good about this movie. I turned it on because it says it's about mma, but an hour into the movie and there was no mma yet. Preachy, poorly acted, directed and written. I gave it a 4 but it could be a 1 if you dont even like mma.

Edit - Actually, it is a 2. It is also a poor representation of mma.

Great fim with life learned lessons

I decided to Blackbear on Netflix. So glad I did. A film involving military honor and MMA fighting is a powerful combination. Blackbear is an excellent film and family friendly. The script is well written and the actors brought life to their respective roles and to the screen. The soundtrack is notable with the sounds of NF adding lyrical punch to the scenes. As the end scene played out, I recognized the familiar voice of real life pastor John Gray. The combination of great acting, strong script and good soundtrack makes Blackbear a good film to watch. 10 stars 🌟 for script, acting, family friendliness and no nudity.

This isn't the best film but the reviews are extremely harsh for no reason.

First off a lot of the reviewers are giving horrible reviews because its similiar to Warrior. While I do agree and personally think warrior is better film I have two words to those people SO WHAT!!! All movies nowadays are the same how about reviewing a movie for the actual content in it.

Back to my review this is not bad movie by any means. The story is sad and pacing isn't bad either. My only complaints are with the action it was very choppy at times also some dialogue was bit corny. But for b- movie thats free on netflix its def worth a watch.

I'm not getting that 90 minutes back....

I'm into B grade movies as they are often hidden gems. This movie is not one of those gems. It's hard to describe just how crap this film is. The only way it could score 6.5 is if the cast and crew plus all their family gave it a 10 six times over. Seriously, this was like watching your kids attempt at a action home movie, except at least the kids movie would be funny. If you have 90 minutes to spare, sit and stare at a blank wall, it will be more rewarding than watching this sad excuse for acting.

Plot had great potential but TERRIBLE acting

I really wanted to like this one. Poor all around. Even the training montage scene was lame. All of the fight scenes were bizarre. It's like the audio was out of synch but it wasn't.... there were no "punch" sounds. Tried to be artsy maybe but fail. I blame the director. Views like a soap opera. Cringeworthy throughout the whole thing.

You'll Laugh! You'll Cry!

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe, you'll sigh. You'll have wasted your time; and possibly, your money. Every character was sad and pathetic; each in a cycle of self, and mutual destruction. Pointless movie. If you haven't watched it yet, don't. Please don't.

Is it a Blackbear or a Submission?

This undisguised piece of ''Christian'' propaganda apparently masquerades under a couple of different titles. D-movie wanting to be a B-movie. Totally unconvincing cage fights, reminding one of school and ''settling it behind the gym'' with boys one didn't quite get on with. A yellow chicken.

Enough said.

TERRIBLE

I signed up just tell you not to waste your time on this movie, it is TERRIBLE. Just terrible acting. Blackbear is the worst character. He's like a spoof of the guy that spoofs David Blaine. If I wasn't sleeping on the couch after pissing off my wife she would have beat me for making half an hour in. I can't believe I sat through the entire show. I couldn't even look myself in the mirror after I was so ashamed.

Its worth watching

Eric Roberts makes this movie pop, the way he controls it. The acting wasn't that bad from the others either. I liked the compassion one has for another in this movie which is based on love and heart to fight for the right thing.

Complete Ripoff

This was nothing more than a ripoff of Tommies character from WARRIOR. If you all want to see the better ORIGINAL version of this movie, just watch WARRIOR with Joel Edgerton and Tom Hardy instead.

Great movie

A little low quality but amazing plot! I personally like the characters and actors who portrayed them. Some parts could have been a little better but all in all, I think it was a great movie. Especially love the music. NF is an amazing artist and I was so excited to see someone taking interest in him enough to use his music in this movie. Great job to the actors and crew

Life is tougher than War !

Some movies have a good story concept and also having a well presentation for it. Blackbear is one of them. The story is about friendship, love, hate, frustration, sacrifice. Story of two marines escaped from ISIS centre. When they came their hometowns the situation is very different. One of them get hospitalised and another found himself in ignorance from his wife. Another one is then tried to take part of MME freestyle championship and to help his friend. What is the end? You can watch this very well storied movie having emotions and actions. Some part is looking overacted, but it is watchable. No moment of boring. Ending makes tears in your eyes. So touching! Acting is just okay. Scott Pryor is perfect for action not for emotion. Darrin Henson perfectly shown helplessness of a patient. Mentionable is 'Summer' ( Lorynn York). She definitely takes you to notice her small but impressive role. My recommendation is just watch.

Hahahaha. No.

Somewhat helpful. Especially at the 45 minute mark where a perfect example of how not to stretch your calf muscles is displayed. Favourite scene ending quote from this movie... "I'm gonna go get a snack" For real.
