Talented WWE Prospect Who Disappeared Quickly Under Triple H’s Regime
Image
Where the hell is Ludwig Kaiser? As a die-hard fan, it drives me insane not to see this Imperium stud taking names on Raw. The German grappler with a great in-ring style and heel persona has been absent for far too long. We all wonder why.

Bad creative? Some gossip backstage? Let’s talk about what happened with Kaiser, look back at his impressive run thus far in WWE, and pitch some storylines! Can we get his girlfriend, Tiffany Stratton, and Charlotte Flair in the mix for some potential drama?

What is happening with Ludwig Kaiser in the WWE

It’s too quiet without Ludwig Kaiser being featured in the WWE! The last time he had a real moment was during WWE Raw about 2 weeks ago, when he was being interviewed by Jackie Redmond, where Bron Breakker and Jey Uso’s brawl seemed more important to record, which completely ruined his moment.

Atomic Features Secures New Financing, Announces Production Fund (Exclusive)
Image
Atomic Features, the production company co-founded by Daniel Ragussis (“Imperium”) and Dennis Lee (“Fireflies in the Garden”), has closed, what it is describing as “a significant” new round of equity financing. The round was led by Fanghua Jiang, Li Jing, and Lanfu Yang.

The company says the new investments will enable it to expand its development slate, adding between four to eight new projects, as well as launch a production fund to finance the first three films it is developing — real-time disaster thriller, “Black Tuesday”; the horror movie, “Breed”; and the dystopian thriller, “The Oasis.”

The company offers a different type of development methodology than the traditional Hollywood model by working with directors from the inception of a project, and relies upon a formalized notes-giving process pioneered by Ragussis in his Notes for Execs workshop, which launched in 2019 and has included participants from such companies as Warner Bros., Universal, Fox and Disney.

Christopher Nolan's Tenet Rerelease Bringing Exclusive Dune Sequel Footage To Theaters
Image
Exclusive footage from Dune: Part Two will be presented during special IMAX screenings of Tenet beginning on Friday, February 23. The Tenet screenings, which include the Dune sequel's sneak peek, will last for one week only. Denis Villeneuve and Christopher Nolan have both praised the IMAX format and shot sequences of their respective films specifically for IMAX screens.

“Long live the fighters!” Finally, after three long years and those seemingly endless delays thanks to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, Dune: Part Two is just over a month away from beginning its theatrical release. And fans can catch a sneak peek of the sequel to Dune one week before it drops in cinemas. Christopher Nolan made the announcement today in a statement (per Entertainment Weekly):

“Seeing the way audiences responded to our large format presentations of Oppenheimer,...

Tenet unveils re-release trailer as it comes back to theaters for one week in 70Mm and IMAX with Dune 2 footage
Image
With all the attention brought on Christopher Nolan with his first post-Warner Bros. film, Oppenheimer, the studio with the famous shield has been itching to reconnect with the auteur. Nolan, himself, says his issues with Warners is “water under the bridge” and it looks as if they’re going to try for a second take at getting audiences to see Tenet in theaters. The John David Washington time-bending vehicle was originally released in the thick of the pandemic and made an effort to make movies a safe place to go again after having closed down. However, Warner Bros. had also put into affect a temporary release plan that made Tenet available on HBO Max as the movie still played in theaters. This was not the ideal release for Nolan who made sure he filmed for the biggest screens possible with IMAX. Warner Bros. has now announced that for one week only,...

Christopher Nolan's Tenet Returning To Theaters With Exclusive Dune: Part Two Footage
Image
Sometimes, the best romances are actually bromances. Every now and then, the best stories are actually the ones that you spend the entire runtime struggling to make any sense of whatsoever. But if there's one thing that we can all agree remains eternally true, no matter what, it's this: I ordered my hot sauce an hour ago.

In perhaps the most shamelessly "Dudes rock" news of 2024, Warner Bros. and IMAX are teaming up for a can't-miss theatrical event in celebration of two of our most distinctive and acclaimed blockbuster filmmakers around. Hot on the heels of the news that Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" is coming back to the big screen and bringing along some exclusive "Dune: Part Two" footage with it, we can now look forward to experiencing Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" -- the somewhat maligned but undoubtedly memorable film that, against all reason, debuted in the middle of the...

Match #1: The New Day vs. Imperium (Double count-out) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After weeks of animosity, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods took on Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci in a vicious tag team contest. Kingston and Woods were a house on fire, continuing to pummel Kaiser and Vinci at ringside. The fight was so intense that both teams were counted out. The fight continued with the two teams bombarding each other at the tech area. The brawl did not stop until both teams went crashing through the tech area table!

My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Ivy Nile def. Valhalla The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Devin Druid and Founders Day Director Erik Bloomquist Unpack Their Gavel-Killing Horror Comedy
Image
It was only a matter of time before somebody came out with a trippy, blood-soaked Tricentennial slasher movie with a masked killer in a white wig, toting a gavel for a weapon. And during an election year no less. There will be disorder in this court, and you will love it. Welcome to Founders Day, the offbeat horror comedy from Bloomquist Brothers Erik and Carson, the filmmakers who brought us She Came from the Woods and Night at the Eagle Inn through their Mainframe Pictures.

The daring political slasher revolves around the small town of Fairwood, which is shaken by a series of gruesome killings during a Founders Day weekend celebration prior to a pivotal mayoral election. Accusations abound, and the threat of a masked killer has everybody on edge as the residents rush to uncover the truth.

Erik Bloomquist directed the project, which he co-wrote with brother Carson. The...

Ghost Kick Off Summer US Tour with Amon Amarth: Photos + Setlists
Image
Ghost have hit the road for a summer US tour, bringing fellow Swedes Amon Amarth along for the ride. The “Re-Imperator” officially kicked off with a packed show Wednesday night (August 2nd) at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California.

Supporting their latest release, The Great Heathen Army, Amon Amarth got the ball rolling with a nine-song setlist that had the metalheads in the already full venue singing along. The band kicked off the set with “Raven’s Flight,” complete with a viking helmet drum riser, and two massive swordsman statues on either side of the stage. “Put Your Back into the Oar” was easily the crowd favorite of the set, as made obvious by the fans rowing along to the song. By the time the band wrapped up their brief set with “Twilight of the Thunder Guard,” the entire venue was primed for the headliners.

With “Imperium” blasting over the Pa as the curtain dropped,...

Has WWE Missed Golden Grand Slam Champion Opportunity With Sheamus?
Image
At this stage of his career, "the big one" for Sheamus in WWE differs from a decade ago. For most professional wrestlers, the goal is climbing to the top of the mountain and becoming world champion. The 44-year-old probably wouldn't turn that opportunity down, but that isn't where his focus is in 2022. Instead, he's been eyeing the Intercontinental Championship, which would make him just the 11th grand slam champion under the modern format. It's a goal that Sheamus said has driven his career resurgence, and his run with The Brawling Brutes has slowly gotten over with fans.

Earlier in his career, The Celtic Warrior believes the WWE Universe didn't support him because it seemed like the machine was pushing him. Fans are quick to reject anyone who feels like a hand-picked champion. For instance, it happened with Roman Reigns, and audiences eventually soured on John Cena when he became the company's version of Superman.

Despite the unorthodox style of The Hunt’s Wild Boar and Primate, Imperium’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner defended their sacred mat against their animalistic opponents in Nxt UK’s opening contest, showcasing exquisite tag team precision that culminated with stereo dropkicks and the uppercut into the powerbomb on Wild Boar for the three-count.

Oh Boy - 24 heures à Berlin (2012)
Jan-Ole Gerster on ‘Lara,’ Starring Corinna Harfouch, Tom Schilling
Oh Boy - 24 heures à Berlin (2012)
German filmmaker Jan-Ole Gerster made a major splash with his critically acclaimed and award-heavy 2012 debut feature “Oh Boy” (“A Coffee in Berlin”), starring Tom Schilling (“Never Look Away”). In Gerster’s latest film, “Lara,” Corinna Harfouch portrays a woman, who, on her 60th birthday, plans to attend the premiere of piano concerto performed by her estranged son, played by Schilling.

Gerster spoke to Variety about the origins of the project, why Harfouch’s involvement was essential, re-teaming with Schilling, and the significant role of music in the film.

While currently focused on the launch of his new film at home and abroad, Gerster is pursuing as a possible next project an adaptation of Christan Kracht’s best-selling novel “Imperium.” Inspired by a true story, the book follows passionate German nudist August Engelhardt as he travels to German New Guinea in 1902 to set up a coconut farm and commune on a remote South Seas island.

Oh Boy - 24 heures à Berlin (2012)
Why it took ‘Oh Boy’ director Jan-Ole Gerster seven years to make his new film ‘Lara’
Oh Boy - 24 heures à Berlin (2012)
‘Lara’ is simultaneously premiering at the Munich and Karlovy Vary film festivals.

German director Jan-Ole Gerster’s debut film Oh Boy (which was released as A Coffee In Berlin in the Us ) was a surprise critical and audience hit in 2012. The absurdist comedy following an aimless man wandering the streets of Berlin was his thesis film at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (Dffb). It certainly marked out Gerster as a director to watch, premiering at Karlovy Vary and winning him the best debut film prize at the European Film Awards.

Seven years later and Gerster is back with his much-anticipated second feature Lara.

Welcome to this week’s Nxt: UK review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have more stuff from Imperium and a big main event for the women. Okay, let’s make like the Hollywood Vampires and buy some mascara.

Match #1: Kassius Ohno def. Kenny Williams The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Kassius Ohno continued his quest to educate Nxt UK on “real British wrestling” by taking on Kenny Williams. Although Williams hit him with a back elbow off the top rope for the near-fall, Ohno proved more fortunate than The Lucky Yin when he caught his opponent in the ropes and delivered an earth-shattering elbow of his own to give him the three-count.

My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was a fun match that was mostly a commercial for how great Kassius Ohno/Chris Hero is in the ring. I like Williams, but Ohno is...

Sharon Tate
‘The Haunting of Sharon Tate’ Film Review: Sleazy Thriller Exploits Manson Murders
Sharon Tate
On the night of August 8, 1969, Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger and Steven Parent were brutally murdered by the Manson Family. It was one of the most shocking and horrifying crimes of the 20th century, a tragedy that still reverberates 50 years later.

And now… there’s a really bad slasher movie about it.

“The Haunting of Sharon Tate” is a ghoulish film that dramatizes these heinous slayings like a particularly tacky pulp thriller, using snippets of documentary footage to remind us that this story is true and deserves more respectful and nuanced treatment than writer-director Daniel Farrands (“The Amityville Murders”) seems able to provide. The lives of Tate, Sebring, Frykowski, Folger and Parent are reduced to stock horror archetypes, trapped in an underwritten and ultimately insulting thriller, with a conclusion that strives for profundity and fails in spectacular fashion.

This 13 Reasons Why Actor Has Already Starred Alongside Some of Hollywood's Biggest Names
There is always a little anxiety when one of your favorite books gets turned into a TV series, but 13 Reasons Why surpassed our expectations when it first premiered in March 2017. Even though there are quite a few tweaks from the original - especially now that it's going off-book with its second season - we couldn't have picked a better cast to play the memorable characters. While some of the actors are well-seasoned professionals, for others, the Netflix series is their big break.

While Devin Druid, who plays Tyler, has a pretty short résumé, at 20 years old he's already worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. In 2016, he starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe in Imperium, and later that year he had a guest spot on Netflix's House of Cards. While he's gaining a lot of traction for his 13 Reasons Why character, he is best-known for playing teenage Louie in the...

The Looming Tower: aux origines du 11 septembre (2018)
Will Bates (‘The Looming Tower’ composer) on the pressure of scoring Hulu series about 9/11 attacks we ‘all lived through’ [Exclusive Video Interview]
The Looming Tower: aux origines du 11 septembre (2018)
Composer Will Bates knew from the get-go that scoring “The Looming Tower” would be a daunting task. “It seemed kind of clear that of all the things that I’ve worked on, this was going to be the largest in terms of the scope of work and the level of detail that it really needed,” he reveals. Based on Lawrence Wright‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning nonfiction book, this Hulu limited series starring Jeff Daniels, Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg and Bill Camp recounts the events leading up to the al-Qaeda terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Bates knew he had his work cut out for him because 9/11 is “something that, to some extent, all of us have lived through.”

See Jeff Daniels (‘The Looming Tower’) wonders, did we learn anything from 9/11, ‘or are we more divided than ever?’ [Exclusive Video Interview]

Upon reading the book, Bates was struck by “how huge this subject is.” The story takes us around the globe,...

‘Beast Of Burden’ Trailer: Daniel Radcliffe Is A Drug Smuggler
Daniel Radcliffe‘s last few films have, to put it politely, flown under the radar. You’ve probably already forgotten about the survival tale “Jungle” and the white supremacy drama “Imperium” (and you probably want to forget about “Now You See Me 2“). Well, here comes another pic that will likely zip in and out of your brain.

“Beast Of Burden” co-stars Pablo Schreiber and Grace Gummer, and tells the story of a man who makes a deal to smuggle drugs to pay for his wife’s surgery.

Daniel Radcliffe Goes Through Hell And High Water In First Jungle Clip
Post-Potter life has been fairly kind to Daniel Radcliffe.

From battling The Woman in Black to infiltrating a neo-Nazi sect in Imperium, not to mention the wholly irreverent Swiss Army Man, the former Boy Who Lived has consistently strayed outside his comfort zone in order to approach weird, wonderful, and often compelling roles. And Jungle is yet another quirky feather in Radcliffe’s hat.

Coming by way of horror veteran Greg McLean, who is perhaps best known for directing Wolf Creek, Rogue, and this year’s Battle Royale clone, The Belko Experiment, Jungle is the story of 22-year-old Israeli backpacker Yossi Ghinsberg. Flanked by his two best friends, Yossi embarks on what he believes will be the adventure of a lifetime, but the truth is much, much more. What follows is an intense fight for survival, and today’s newly-released clip documents a scene on the Jungle rapids.

Also starring Alex Russell,...

Daniel Radcliffe Strives to Survive the Wilds in Exclusive ‘Jungle’ Poster
Following his iconic, long-running performance as Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has proven to be a pretty adventurous actor. Two years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 hit theaters, Radcliffe appeared as a burgeoning demon in Horns, played romantic foil to Zoe Kazan in What If, and portrayed a young Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings. Last year, he had two of his best performances in Imperium and Swiss Army Man, in which he played a farting corpse opposite Paul Dano, Kazan's off-screen partner. With the exceptions of the dreadful Now You See Me 2 …...

Action Comedy Guns Akimbo Taps Daniel Radcliffe To Headline
On the eve of Cannes Film Festival, Variety is reporting that Daniel Radcliffe, star of Imperium and the irreverent Swiss Army Man, has signed on to headline Guns Akimbo for Occupant Entertainment.

Pitched as an action comedy, Jason Lei Howden (Deathgasm) is behind the lens for this one, and we understand Occupant and Altitude Films are preparing to launch sales at Cannes next week – indicating that Radcliffe has climbed aboard in the nick of time.

The former Harry Potter actor will no doubt inject some star power into Guns Akimbo, which chronicles the harrowing story of Miles, an Average Joe who suddenly finds himself forced to fight a gladiator-like battle for a dark website that streams the violence to a rabid, worldwide audience. Evoking memories of Charlie Brooker’s stunning Black Mirror series, Miles then begins his quest to save his kidnapped ex-girlfriend, Nova, by any means necessary. With Jason Lei Howden at the helm,...

Q&A: Roger Yawson on Killer Campout and Working with Daniel Radcliffe on Imperium
For our latest Q&A feature, we caught up with actor and filmmaker Roger Yawson, who discussed playing the role of Chad in the new movie Killer Campout (coming out this year from Fuzzy Monkey Films), working with Daniel Radcliffe on Imperium, and much more.

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Roger! What attracted you to playing the role of Chad in your new movie, Killer Campout?

Roger Yawson: It’s my pleasure. The fact that Chad didn’t care about what he says, he’s rude, aggressive and all sorts of crazy…that’s what drew me to the character because I knew I could have fun with it, and I did! In real life I’m very chill and get along with everyone, and so I enjoy playing characters that are “outside the norm” for me.

It looks like you spent a...

Daniel Radcliffe
Courtesy of “Swiss Army Man,” Daniel Radcliffe’s reanimated corpse spent a lot of time in the forest last year. You can likely guess where the actor spends his time in “Jungle,” Greg McLean’s adaptation of the memoir of the same name by Yossi Ghinsberg. Watch the trailer below.

“Have you ever been in the jungle?” Radcliffe is asked in the opening moments; the question seems to stir something him, and so he sets off into the Amazon alongside two friends, guided by the man who first posed the question (Thomas Kretschmann). This being a movie, it should come as little surprise that things don’t exactly go as planned for our intrepid explorers.

'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' Turns 15: See What Hogwarts' Most Beloved Students Are Up to Now!
"You're a wizard, Harry!"

It's hard to believe it's been 15 years since we first heard Robbie Coltrane deliver that line in character as Rubeus Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first of what would turn into eight total fantasy films based on the beloved "Harry Potter" book series by J.K. Rowling.

Nov. 16, 2001 marked the day the world was introduced to Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley. Potterheads quickly fell in love with their unbreakable bond on-screen, which was noticeably just as strong when the cameras weren't rolling.

DVD Review: Imperium
★★☆☆☆ For its many faults, Imperium has noble intentions. Inspired by incendiary true-to-life events, its narrative charts an undercover FBI operation to expose a plague of nationwide racial hatred, white supremacist groups and an impending terrorist act on Washington DC. An attempted indictment of right wing intolerance and illegal activity, it's disappointing that this Daniel Radcliffe-led thriller never surprises, truly engages or gets under the skin. The essential irony of writer-director Daniel Ragussis' debut feature is that it features a socially awkward, justly terrified rookie transformed into a skinhead.
