Sean Connery's Only Non-James Bond Sequel Was The Biggest Fiasco Of His Career
Image
Highlander 2: The Quickening is the only non-James Bond sequel of Sean Connery's career - and turned into the biggest critical and commercial mess of his career. Connery played Bond in seven movies, though his final appearance was in the "unofficial" outing Never Say Never Again. After hitting something of a fallow period during the early 1980s, Connery made a major comeback with The Untouchables and went on to front major hits like The Hunt for Red October and The Rock. Perhaps having felt confined by the 007 series, Connery largely avoided sequels for much of his career.

Highlander 2 proved the sole exception to this, with this 1991 sequel reuniting Connery's Ramírez with Christopher Lambert's MacLeod. His return was something of a surprise to fans of the original Highlander movie from 1986 - considering his head had been cut off by the movie's villain, The Kurgan (Clancy Brown). Since Connery...

Quantum Leap Should Always Use Multiple Holograms
Image
This article contains spoilers for Quantum Leap season 2 episode 7.

“His only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear.”

This description, which accompanied the introduction of most episodes of the original Quantum Leap, firmly set in stone the in-show rules for a hologram from the future. There was only one person, Al (Dean Stockwell), who could help Sam (Scott Bakula). Very rarely did the original series change this and the same held true throughout much of season 1 of the new Quantum Leap series, with Addison (Caitlin Bassett) as hologram to Ben (Raymond Lee.)

Towards the end of the first season, however, the new show began to experiment with this long held paradigm. Without the constraints the original series had, that Al’s brain waves were linked to Sam’s and thus...

Highlander reboot will have Queen music on the soundtrack
Image
There are many memorable things about the 1986 classic Highlander (watch it Here), but the element that probably sticks with the average viewer more than any other are the songs that Queen recorded for the film – songs like “A Kind of Magic”, “Who Wants to Live Forever”, and “Princes of the Universe”. So it’s great to hear from John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski, who is currently pushing a Highlander reboot toward production, that he intends to use the Queen songs in the new film, in some capacity.

When asked if the Queen songs will be featured in his Highlander reboot, Stahelski told The Wrap, “Yes. Probably in a different way than you think, but hardcore yes.“

The original Highlander had the following synopsis: When the mystical Russell Nash kills a man in a sword fight in a New York City parking lot, he leaves a sliver of an ancient...

Henry Cavill’s Highlander Reboot Director Confirms Queen Songs Will Return: “Hardcore Yes”
Image
The director of the upcoming Highlander reboot, Chad Stahelski, confirms that it will feature the original movie's Queen songs. Stahelski hints that the Queen songs will be used in a different way than expected, raising questions about how they will be incorporated. One possibility is that the movie could include a fight sequence at a Queen concert in the 1980s, honoring the original soundtrack while giving the music a fresh twist.

Chad Stahelski, the director tapped to helm the upcoming Highlander reboot featuring Henry Cavill, has confirmed that his movie will feature the original Queen songs. While the franchise would later expand to encompass several sequels and various television spinoffs, the original movie was also made memorable due to the addition of several songs recorded by the iconic British rock band Queen, many of which would also be released on their 1986 album A Kind Of Magic, often dubbed an unofficial sequel for the movie.

Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
‘Highlander’ Remake Will Use Queen Songs From the Original Movie, Director Chad Stahelski Says
Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
One of the more iconic elements of “Highlander,” the high-concept fantasy adventure from 1986 that went on to spawn a long-running franchise, is the movie’s songs, written and performed by Queen. And Chad Stahelski, who will be directing the remake for Lionsgate, says that those songs will return for the new movie.

“Yes,” Stahelski told TheWrap while talking about the Oscar chances for “John Wick: Chapter 4.” “Probably in a different way than you think, but hardcore yes.”

Queen wrote and recorded songs for the original “Highlander” and released an album, “A Kind of Magic,” in 1986 that served as an official soundtrack to the movie.

The songs were perfect for the movie, which depicted a battle between immortal beings known as Highlanders in modern day Manhattan. Instead of Scottish moors, they battle in underground parking garages. That kind of thing. Queen’s songs were wedged in among Michael Kamen’s...

Watch Queen + Adam Lambert Perform an Emotional ‘Is This The World We Created…?’ in New York
Image
When Queen + + Adam Lambert launched the 2023 leg of their Rhapsody tour last week, they dipped deep into the Queen catalog and resurrected the 1984 deep cut “Is This the World We Created…?” for the first time since Lambert stepped into the role as frontman. The song was written in response to African poverty and was famously played at Live Aid in 1985, but it took on a new meaning at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Thursday night in the aftermath of the massacre in Israel.

The song was played acoustically...

Queen ruled Baltimore’s Cfg Bank Arena Wednesday night (October 4th) as they kicked off their North American “Rhapsody Tour.”

Original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor — plus vocalist Adam Lambert — spent two hours tearing through over two dozen Queen tunes, with a career-spanning setlist that featured both their biggest hits as well as fan-favorite deep cuts.

Notably, the band played “Is This the World We Created…?” live with Lambert for the first time, and dusted off “Stone Cold Crazy” after more than five years.

May, Taylor, and Lambert were backed by Queen’s longtime keyboard player Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough, and percussionist Tyler Warren, comprising an ensemble whose sound filled the entire arena. It was a night that served as a tribute to Freddie Mercury, keeping his songs and spirit alive without ever overshadowing his bright legacy.

Peter S. Davis Dies: Producer Of ‘Highlander’ Franchise Was 79
Image
Peter S. Davis, the producer of the popular cult Highlander franchise, died in his sleep February 21 at home in Calabasas, CA, his son, Epic magazine co-founder Joshua Davis, told Deadline. He was 79.

Davis began his career as a Wall Street lawyer and launched his own firm in his 20s before heading to Hollywood in 1977. He produced more than 20 films during his career, including the early Brad Pitt starrer Cutting Class (1988), Joe Pesci’s Family Enforcer aka Death Collector (1976), and Sam Peckinpah’s last film The Osterman Weekend (1983). He worked with Bob Shaye and Bill Panzer to produce New Line Cinema’s first film, Stunts starring Robert Forster.

Above all, Davis is known for Highlander (1986), which began as an overlooked script written by UCLA undergrad Gregory Widen. Davis convinced Fox and Thorn/Emi to back the film in the early 1980s and recruited Sean Connery for the role of Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez.

Bohemian Rhapsody 2 Could Possibly Happen
Brian May
Bohemian Rhapsody just crossed a major milestone at the box office, which has some people thinking about Bohemian Rhapsody 2. In a recent interview, Queen guitarist Brian May discussed the making of the movie along with some of his favorite scenes and the possibility of a sequel. However, that interview took place before the biopic became the highest grossing music film of all time, crossing the $600 million mark worldwide. Additionally, the movie has been huge for the band, putting albums and singles at the top of the charts again.

With all of that in mind, there could be a sequel to Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie ends in 1985 with Live Aid and Freddie Mercury lived for another six years before passing away at the age of 45 from AIDS complications. Brian May spoke about the temptation to go further in the movie, but ultimately, they decided against it. May had this to say...
