The Leftovers season 3’s final episode aired on June 4, 2017. It has been 8 years since then, and yet fans can’t help but wonder what could have been. Nora Durst’s journey to the parallel world, Kevin Garvey’s spiritual path, and the other unaddressed mysteries about the Sudden Departure are all subplots that fans wanted to see explored more.

Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta’s drama explored the story of the people left behind when 2% of the human population vanished in an instant. Grief, loss, mourning, faith, science, and more were broad topics that were explored in the show. However, it never gave neat resolutions to the philosophical dilemmas it presented.

Never closing the door completely is what still fuels speculation about the show. But the fans aren’t wrong to still search for answers. After all, The Leftovers series finale felt like a beginning to new questions rather than a satisfying conclusion.

Despite its critical acclaim, The Leftovers ended after 3 seasons in 2017, but has since been introduced to many new viewers. If there’s one thing that Damon Lindelof is known for, it’s making really great shows that can also get really, really weird. And based on the latest teaser released Wednesday, his new Peacock show “Mrs. Davis” looks like it might be the “Leftovers” and “Watchmen” creator’s most oddball project yet.

HBO’s 2019 “Watchmen” series ranks among the prestige network’s most acclaimed works, winning 11 Primetime Emmys and ranking at No. 3 on IndieWire’s list of the 21st century’s best limited series. But creator Damon Lindelof has since not shown interest in helming a followup to that first season — and without Lindelof on board, it doesn’t seem like HBO will ever greenlight another season.

What would happen if the world was ravaged by a pandemic even worse than the coronavirus? That’s the crux of “Station Eleven,” HBO Max’s upcoming television adaptation of the acclaimed 2014 novel of the same name. The teaser trailer for the 10-episode limited series, which premieres December 16, dropped Tuesday.

The synopsis for “Station Eleven” reads: A post-apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, this limited drama series tells the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what’s been lost. “Station Eleven” is based on the international bestseller of the same name by Emily St. John Mandel.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched the first three episodes of “Invasion,” Apple Plus’ new drama that premiered Friday, Oct. 22.

Despite its ominous title, “Invasion” makes a slow burn out of revealing its basic premise. You’d know more about the new drama by reading its logline — “the series follows an alien invasion” — than by watching its first three episodes, which dropped Oct. 22 on Apple TV Plus. Though there’s something — or some thing? — creeps its way around the world by leveling buildings, smashing space stations, and giving kids nosebleeds, “Invasion” keeps its cards close to the chest. Rather than so much as utter the word “alien” in these initial episodes, “Invasion” focuses on the global ripple effects of increasing panic — which might be fine, if it also did a decent job developing its many characters along the way.

The new show follows the lives of the Fox family, who are forced to flee to Mexico to escape the US government after Allie, a controversial idealist and inventor, gets into trouble.

As chance would have it, Justin Theroux was filming Apple TV Plus’ new series adaptation of “The Mosquito Coast” when he learned that original star Harrison Ford had just checked into his same hotel.

A mutual friend suggested that they meet. “We had this wonderful long tequila-filled night. We did talk about ‘Mosquito Coast,’ but it wasn’t central,” Theroux tells me on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “He’s a much more fascinating man than the guy who just played that part.”

After six strong seasons BoJack Horseman finally ends, but there’s a lot of emotional baggage to unpack in the subtle series finale.

The following contains massive spoilers for BoJack Horseman season 6.

There are few series that wear their blunt honesty and melancholy nature on their sleeves as proudly as BoJack Horseman. It was a show that consistently presented the world as a difficult place full of broken individuals, but in the face of all of that pain, it never dropped its inherently optimistic point of view. This is a show about people wanting to be good and to improve themselves, whether they’re successful in those efforts or not.

BoJack Horseman’s final season contained many breakthroughs and moments of growth for the dysfunctional protagonist, most notably checking himself into rehab and turning away from the egotistical world of acting and shifting his efforts to teaching and bettering others.

Since “Watchmen” ended its brilliant, well-rated first season, buzz has been building around a potential Season 2. Will we see more of Regina King’s instant-classic hero, Angela Abar? Will we see a new non-superhero story set within Damon Lindelof’s universe? Will we have to wait another three decades before an inspired creator revisits the iconic “Watchmen” world?

Much like the “Leftovers” creator’s penchant for ambiguity, those questions don’t have answers — not yet. Despite reports manufacturing a definitive position, “Watchmen” fans are still in the same purgatory they’ve been in since before the series launched, when Lindelof said his season was a complete story and HBO waited to see if that story was a hit worthy of expansion.

The first (and maybe only) season of the Watchmen television show has come to an end on HBO. This show follows a less than stellar big-screen interpretation of the graphic novel, directed by Zack Snyder back in 2009. Both that film and this series, are based (loosely or otherwise) on the comic mini-series/graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, published in 1986 and 1987. That book is held up as one of the holy grails of the comic genre. Fans of the original are historically judgmental and territorial of their treasured story. This is understandable.

Watchmen is officially a go at HBO. The cabler has placed a series order for the long-gestating TV adaptation of the DC Comics property, from Lost and Leftovers Ep Damon Lindelof. An HBO rep declined to divulge how many episodes Season 1 will consist of. The series will debut in 2019.

Lindelof’s Watchmen is set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws. Per HBO, the new series “embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.”

The insane cast is a veritable who’s who of acting vets and genre faves.

FX has resurrected a new take on “Shōgun,” a 10-episode limited series period drama that had originally been set up at sister broadcast network Fox.

FX is bringing back Shōgun to the small screen. In what the network describes as In its largest international scale production to date, it has given a 10-episode order to a limited series period drama based on James Clavell’s best-selling novel. The book previously spawned a miniseries on NBC, which aired over five nights in 1980, starring Richard Chamberlain, Toshiro Mifune and Yoko Shimada, earning multiple Emmys, Golden Globes and a Peabody award.

The FX series has had a blinking green light for more than seven months as the network worked on figuring out logistics for the ambitious project.

Several of the actors playing the members of Thanos' Black Order in Infinity War have been revealed. Directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo made the reveals during a recent interview, having recently embarked on the massive press tour for the movie. First and foremost, it's confirmed that British actress Carrie Coon will play Proxima Midnight. Here's what Joe Russo had to say about it.

"Carrie Coon is Proxima Midnight. and you may know her from season three of Fargo or the Leftovers."

In addition to the Emmy-nominated Fargo actress taking on the role of Proxima Midnight, it was also revealed that Irish actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor will play Black Order member Ebony Maw, who has telekinetic powers. Lastly, Terry Notary (Avatar), will play Cull Obsidian. Proving that Thanos isn’t the only villain of Avengers: Infinity War, it’s now been revealed that Fargo and The Leftovers actress Carrie Coon will play the part of Proxima Midnight, a key member of the nefarious Black Order.

Radio Times has the scoop, confirming that Coon provides the voice of Thanos’ leading henchman – or henchwoman, really – alongside the telekinetic Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor), Cull Obsidian (Avatar‘s Terry Notary) and the sinister Corvus Glaive. Still no word on who’s playing the latter, leading many to conclude that said role actually belongs to Peter Dinklage, given the Game of Thrones mainstay was previously confirmed for Infinity War.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo refused to be drawn on the identity of Glaive’s voice actor, but the former did confirm Coon’s involvement during a recent chat with Radio Times:
