Not Worth the Slog to Get to the Surprises

Is it worth the slog here to get to the film's surprises? I would say no. During most of the movie, I was thinking they should have sent the cast back to acting school before they filmed this and edited the script so that it wasn't laughably bad.

The twists that do come later, which I won't reveal, can be clever and I didn't guess them but also can be somewhat confusing, at least to me. All in all, I would say save yourself the time--it's not worth it.

This was fairly amateurish...

Maybe I should have taken heed of the relative low rating that the 2017 action thriller "Cops and Robbers" had snagged here on IMDb before I sat down to watch it. But I figured an action movie with Michael Jai White and Tom Berenger couldn't be all that bad.

But it was. Boy, was this movie from writer and director Scott Windhauser a swing and a miss.

Not only was the storyline generic and predictable, but it also felt incredibly clumsy and amateurish. I mean, some of the actors and actresses didn't even seem to believe in the project, and it was showing in their performances on the screen. The whole movie permeated with a very low budget feel, and it wasn't working in favor of the movie as a whole.

The character gallery in Scott Windhauser's "Cops and Robbers" was for the lack of better works far from interesting. I didn't care one bit about the characters in the movie as they milled about stumbling to and from.

As for the effects in the movie, well again we are well within the amateur range here; especially the weapons and when said weapons were fired. That was just laughably bad.

This is definitely not a movie that I will be returning to a second time. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money and effort on.

My rating of "Cops and Robbers" lands on a three out of ten stars.

Don't waste your time

I loved Michael Jai White in every movie hes been in and the guy was in great shape His kung fu moves and his great acting made all his movies really good. But you know when an actor is all washed up , is when they play in these awful movies , bad acting bad directing .I mean I honestly could have made a better movie with the same lousy actors. Right from the beginning you know this is going to be a flop bank robber has a gun on Michael and instead of Michael taking the gun away from him , the bank robber looks away for no apparent reason and then Michael takes his gun out.Like really the movie is full of weird ideas and you just know that Michael must be hard up to play in this one. Michael White has gotten fat and that might be one reason no one wants him . Just like Steven Seagal he goes from top notch movies to really bad movies. I mean when you're all washed up just quit , why bother ? you just make yourselves look like fools.I guess when you're hard up you take whatever you can get, sad. But a man's gotta eat right. Did you know Steven Seagal and Michael Jai White played in the same awesome movie called Asian Connection. They have really fallen since then!

OK story, but thats all

I actualy liked the plot, but thats all the there is to say about this one.

Acting from several of the actors is extreamly poor, and the computer generated graphichs scenes are terrible. A House blown up with C4 inside, and it doesn't even catch om fire (on screen)... come on... Where is the professionalisme in the pride of filmmaking..??

Whatch TV to see how real reporters send and report bavl to the TV-station. This is the worst reporter i a movie I have ever seen - acting as if she don't knos how to report... Or maybee she is suposed to look like a rokokoen, but even so the acting is the worst I've ever seen.

Looks like nothing but $-making to me..!!

Don't insult my intelligence.

Great idea for a story but acting was terrible

So I gave this movie 7/10 because I thought the storyline was excellent. There were some good or at least decent performances but for the most part the acting was terrible. I've never seen many of the actors in anything so it's possible that they were extras, low budget actors, or actors who didn't have a lot of experience. This is fine, I'm all for giving people an opportunity. I'm just sorry that the storyline seems to be underappreciated based on the low ratings. This film could have been 10 out of 10 had there been more experienced actors. I love Michael Jai White, always have, and I really like Tom Berenger but I think a movie is only as good as the directing and it's acting. So if I'm going to put blame anywhere it would be on those two items -- the directing and the acting. Also, the editing could have really used some work.

Booooriiiiing

Well, when I saw Jai White's name in this, I was almost immediately interested on seeing the movie... But, unfortunately, the movie is bad, very bad. The dialog seems forced, the sound editing is poorly made, and the fighting choreography is dreadful. They seem so amateurish, so clumsy. Too bad... The movie is very very boring

Two brothers and a bank !

Good thriller with a terrific twist which you never expected. I don't understand such very low ratings like 3.7 where as this movie is watchable and not a single moment of boring. On the other hand stupid and lengthy movie Uncut Gems 2019 got 7 ratings from 1400 stupid viewers. What a choice of them ! Cops & Robbers is a good thriller. If you are suspense lovers then this movie for you. Must watch. It is not lengthy. Perfect casting, shocking twist and straight going story are plus points. Acting from Michael is rocking so as his brother.

Give Me A Break

Michael Jai White and Quinton Jackson grew up together. Now White is a police hostage negotiator and Jackson is a bank robber with hostages. He gets White as his negotiator and makes some tough demands... and revenge on White.

It's a not particularly distinguished example of the 'negotiator' movie, intended as star turns for the leads, shot in a foreboding light, with overly dramatic music that clearly is intended to let the audience know that the stakes are high. Unfortunately, the constant level reduces everything to the same level, and there's little rhythm to the story telling. There are lots of closeups and tight, claustrophobic shots that make this dull in its unceasing panic.

Some of the worst acting, ever

Don't even bother watching. Tom Berenger should be massively embarrassed that he was even in this farce, Michael Jai White makes Andy Dick seem like a Thespian.

BEST MOVIE EVER WATCHED

Why has this not got better ratings

It really isn't that bad, I found the need to continue watching and loved the twist at the end.

OK the acting is not the best you'll ever see but to rate it close 0 is over the top.

Story starts off with a scene from the end of the film which then leads into the start.

Once the action starts it does keep you gripped to the end.

I think all in all its really worth a watch, the actors are not ones I have co.e across before but I'll deferred be looking to see other films from the two brothers that played in this film.

So all in all I give this film a 9 out of 10, it really isn't that bad....

Definitely not Michael Jai Whites worst film but could have been a bit more intense and had some fight scenes in it

'Cops and Robbers' was a very good film starring Michael Jai White, Quinton Rampage Jackson and Tom Berenger. There was quite a bit of action and it was quite a dramatic film, but it was different to Michael Jai White's normal films. Obviously it was a 'Cops and Robbers' film as the name says and it was a very good one, but it really should have been a bit more intense and had some fight scenes in it. Besides the film being dramatic and having a bit of action in it as well as being a bit tense, it was a film that also featured some excellent acting by Michael Jai White, Quinton Rampage Jackson and Tom Berenger.
