Slick and Thrilling - No Nonsense or over Drama!

Despite the not so great name, this is a GREAT sequel to 1990's Ghayal. I will go so far as to say that this is the BEST sequel I have seen in Bollywood till date. Ours is not a culture of sequels and it is especially difficult to make a sequel to a cult classic & Blockbuster like Ghayal.

When I heard written & directed by Sunny Deol, I was frankly quite alarmed.

I had gone into the film expecting a poorly made masala entertainer with bad acting and clichéd dialog. But This movie turned out to be hugely entertaining. It is anything but a stupidly made cash grab. I can't recommend this movie highly enough.

This is the closest an Indian film has gotten to 'The Dark Knight' type of film. This movie has powerful ruthless villains, innocents to protect, lot of hi-tech gadgetry and chases, thrills and spills more usually seen in Super Hero films from Hollywood.

This film is rather well written. Surprising, but it is. From the heroes to the villains they all make logical sense. The villain is not as strong as Balwant Rai, but he isn't so one dimensional either, this time the Villain is LITERALLY Mukesh ambani type Industrialist with a family. This film has so many layers to this Villain, he isn't a evil man, he is a business tycoon who is shady, which tycoon isn't ?

That makes this movie realistic. A REALISTIC sunny doel film?

From the writing to the action, everything Is now updated to the 2010s and its mostly very real. From the wounds incurred by the heroes while fighting, to the technique of the fights everything is plausible. There is no more super over the top falling from 10 floors and not getting hurt.

The plot has quite a few twists and turns and also has AMAZING sequences straight out of a Hollywood film with hacking, Cameras, surveillance, media corruption and a LOT more. One particular long chase sequence was actually tense enough for the entire theater to stop breathing for a while. There are more writers listed other than Sunny Deol and KUDOS to them… Brilliant job of writing an emotional action thriller. The stunts are very good too. Unlike stupid masala films the hero does fail many times, his car doesn't quite clear a jump, he trys to run away from the goons etc.

Acting wise, the film has a lot of strong performances. Surprisingly major parts of the film is Sunny Deol less and shows his confidence as a director in letting the younger cast have their screen time.

In conclusion, this is a Sequel to a VERY successful film and they managed to make it good. VERY GOOD!

Rating 7.5/10. A MUST watch for action, thriller lovers. Special bonus for Sunny Deol Lovers.

"Ajay Mehra" won't disappoint you, worth watching.

Not a die hard fan of Deol but I am of his work in 1990 GHAYAL. So I went to watch this one and yes it's worth watching. The plot is pretty straight forward and lacks the twists and turns as in the 1990 GHAYAL but then action has improved and seriously has the potential to keep one glued. The characters do fade in and out sometimes abruptly but then they have done justice to their roles, especially NARENDRA JHA (Sachin Bansal) who had big shoes to fill in place of legendary actor Amrish Puri (Balwant Rai). The trademark GHAYAL tune helps. Yeah there are few loop holes and certain scenes don't make sense but then AJAY MEHRA the core of the movie, still remains the same, powerful at dialogue delivery and good in action. And just as an old song says "SOCH NA KYA JO BHI HOGA DEKHA JAYEGA", don't think give a watch once.

Sunny Deol still has that screen presence and Charisma....

He is at the age of 59 and still he has the charisma and screen presence that may outshine any of younger generation superstars. Sunny Deol has the kind of persona that makes all action scenes believable that he does.. Movie should be applauded for it's action sequences which are beautifully designed and are much different than south movies kind of action sequences that we get to watch in almost every Bollywood movies nowadays.

To be very honest screenplay should have been better. Editing could have been more sharp and there should have been some more good dialogues. I really missed dialogues in this one...

What is good about movie: 2 people- Sunny Deol and Narender Jha. Though Narender Jha is no where close to Amrish Puri but in his every scene he has come out to look great. Watching Sunny Deol is still a treat. He is simply best suited for action.

It is sad that actors like Sunny Deol are underutilized in our film industry and we don't appreciate him the way Hollywood appreciate Sylvster Stallon.

People say he does similar kind of movies... So what?? There are many actors in the world who throughout their lives have done similar kind of roles only and they have been respected for that....we can applaud foreigners for similar movies and roles but we won't applaud our Desi hero for his efforts ....Sad... Go and watch this movie. There is still no one who can do action like Sunny Deol because he is the Sunny Deol...

One of the best movies by Sunny but not the 90's Adrenaline

Sunny Deol means Hardcore action with Throat Soaring dialogues in India. This one is completely a different one, there is action but not the likes of Ghayal and Ghatak, dialogues too but not like "Balwant Rai me Kutte" but this is one high octane high adrenaline movie with a connection to Corporate family. Watch it for Sunny and Good cinema. Pass it for the above-mentioned Reasons. I enjoyed it .

    • Trivia
The character of Raj Bansal is allegedly based on Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of India's largest conglomerate, Reliance Industries. The huge jenga-like house shown in the film is a real-life structure located in the heart of Mumbai - called Antilia, it is the residential address of Ambani. In the film, Bansal's son Varun is accused of killing a man whereas in real life, one of Ambani's sons was also accused of killing a civilian in a car crash, which was subsequently suppressed by his father, who is also the richest man in India. The film's story-line is also based on Ambani's profession, hinting his alleged involvement in the 4G spectrum auction and being in shoulders with the Indian government and media. The fact that the film is produced by Reliance Entertainment, which is owned by Ambani's estranged brother Anil, may be seen as a confirmation to this real life semblances.
