Zendaya and Tom Holland might have become Hollywood’s favorite duo both on and off-screen, with fans swooning over every movie they do together. And now, they’re apparently setting their sights on a five-film record, even making some waves with rumors about joining forces in a Christopher Nolan flick. Pretty impressive, right?

But here’s the twist: the lovebirds still have a few miles to go before they can dethrone the ultimate power couple of cinema. There’s a Hollywood pair who’s taken co-starring to a whole new level, already clocking in more than five films together. Sorry, Holland and Zendaya, but the reigning champs aren’t ready to pass the baton just yet!

All eyes were on Penelope Cruz as she arrived at the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City!
Cruz, 48, dazzled as she made her entrance wearing a light blue Chanel couture Spring/Summer gown from 1988, complete with a hooded veil. The dress featured gorgeous beading throughout, and a corseted bodice that came together with a sequined belt.
Cruz very much channeled Snow White in the ethereal look, with the hood covering both her shoulders and a good portion of her hair, which she had fastened into a low bun. The Spanish actress kept her accessories simple, rocking a large, diamond ring and glittering silver earrings to match. As for her glam, Cruz opted for a nude lip and subtle smokey eye.

Rodrigo Santoro – Hector in “Westworld,” Xerxes in “300”– leans forward in his chair during a Zoom interview almost touching the screen, such is his excitement. “It’s absolutely extraordinary, the accomplishment. What they did, what this man did. The mission seemed completely impossible.”
Santoro is talking about Ferdinand Magellan, whom he plays in Prime Video’s “Boundless,” directed by Simon West, also starring Alvaro Morte, the Professor in “Money Heist,” and Zdf Studios and Rtve’s banner title at this year’s Mipcom.
West calls the series his “passion project.” For anybody interested in the Age of Discovery, Magellan’s circumnavigation of the world, completed by Basque Juan Sebastián Elcano, is the voyage of voyages, the greatest feat in maritime history, writes historian Laurence Bergreen.

With its list of new releases for September 2022, Prime Video is finally unveiling the most anticipated (and expensive) series in the streamer’s history.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will arrive to Prime Video’s servers on Sept. 2, 2022. This Lord of the Rings prequel, set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age, is in many ways the kind of TV property that Prime Video must have always wanted. It’s certainly the TV property most fitting with the company’s largesse and riches. The Rings of Power will cover the creation of the titular rings and many important events from Tolkien’s lore (condensed into a more TV-appropriate timeframe).
Middle-earth is going to be the happening spot on Amazon and the streaming world at large this month, but Prime Video does have a handful of other originals for the fantasy-phobic. Flight/Risk, a documentary about the Boeing 737 Max design disasters,...

The inner life of Diana Spencer has been imagined effectively in several recent speculative dramas, from TV’s The Crown to Pablo Larraín’s Spencer. Sundance documentary The Princess invites us into her world by tracing the intense interest that followed her engagement to Prince Charles in 1981 — and it’s riveting stuff.
British director Ed Perkins has crafted a story using a mixture of professional and amateur footage, eschewing a traditional narration for a cacophony of unidentified voices discussing Diana. Some are reporters ostensibly stating facts with a noticeable bias. Others are pundits judging and critiquing her openly. And of course, there are the fans who heap praise on her, the queen of their hearts and the princess of the people.

The Spanish Academy surprised some this year when it selected Fernando León de Aranoa’s Javier Bardem-starrer “The Good Boss” (“El buen patrón”) as the country’s submission for this year’s Best International Feature Oscar race. It’s main contender was Pedro Almodóvar’s “Parallel Mothers” which wowed at Venice – Penelope Cruz took the award for best actress, did well at the Spanish box office and has been an overwhelming critical success and has since been nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language.
To many, particularly in Spain however, the decision was less of a shock. The 2021 AFI Awards top 10 list is out, and it’s top heavy with films from big-name directors.
Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro, Denis Villeneuve, Paul Thomas Anderson, Jane Campion, Joel Coen and Adam McKay all have movies that made the cut. Another boldface name, Lin-Manuel Miranda, also showed up on the list with his first directing credit, tick, tick…Boom!
The AFI jury was clearly impressed, though, with filmmakers who either have won or been nominated for Oscars, some multiple times. Spielberg’s West Side Story, Coen’s The Tragedy Of Macbeth (representing a rare solo turn without brother Ethan), Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, Del Toro’s Nightmare Alley, Campion’s The Power of the Dog, McKay’s Don’t Look Up, and Villeneuve’s Dune are joined by films form lesser-known directors including Sian Heder’s Coda, and Reinaldo Marcus Greene’s King Richard.

Already selected as this year’s Spanish Best International Feature Film submission for the Oscars, Fernando León de Aranoa’s dark workplace comedy “The Good Boss,” starring Javier Bardem, has set a new record for most Spanish Academy Goya Award nominations with 20, ahead of Icíar Bollaín’s standout Basque drama “Maixabel” with 14 and Pedro Almodóvar’s “Parallel Mothers,” which secured eight.
The 20 nominations include: Best picture, director, original screenplay, original music, lead actor, three nominations for supporting actor, supporting actress, two nominations for best new male actor and one for best new female actor, production design, cinematography, editing, art direction, costume design, makeup, sound design and special effects. It’s a total which breaks an almost 30-year-old record held by Imanol Uribe’s “Numbered Days,” which received 19 nominations in 1994.
León’s latest, produced by The Mediapro Studio and Reposado PC, is a return to a fruitful partnership between the director and his leading man.

On The Good Boss, Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem reteamed with filmmaker Fernando León de Aranoa to examine “the abuse of power that some people have in their relationships with others,” from the perspective of an abuser.
In the Spanish-language dark comedy distributed by Cohen Media Group, Bardem stars as Blanco, a charismatic but controlling factory boss who will go to extreme lengths to protect the world he has created for himself, and to stop his affairs with interns from being exposed to his wife.
Bardem noted during his appearance Sunday at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event at the DGA Theater that his performance was inspired by research and reflection on people “like Harvey Weinstein,” who are applauded by society for their intelligence and business acumen, up until to the point when their abuses of power are finally called out.

Spain has picked The Good Boss, starring Javier Bardem, to represent the country at the 2021 Academy Awards in the best international feature category.

Say you’re hitching a ride at the side of a lonely highway, and two cars slow down at once. One is driven by Anton Chigurh, the taciturn, helmet-haired serial killer played to Oscar-winning effect by Javier Bardem in “No Country for Old Men.” At the wheel of the other is Blanco, the grayly respectable factory CEO essayed by the same actor in “The Good Boss.” Seems like an easy choice, though by the end of the latter film, you might be inclined to take your chances with the psychopath.
Blanco probably won’t kill you; not by his own hand, at least. But with each chaotic plot turn of Spanish director Fernando León de Aranoa’s anti-corporate comedy, it becomes clearer that Blanco is the blandest possible incarnation of pure evil: a man with nary a principle, much less a personality, to his name. One of this year’s favorites to shine in the main competition at the San Sebastian Film Festival is Fernando León de Aranoa’s “The Good Boss,” starring Javier Bardem.
“The Good Boss” takes place in and around the Blancos Básculas factory, where all things must be in balance at all times. There, the seemingly benevolent boss, Bardem’s Blanco, is preparing for an upcoming inspection by a group visiting local businesses to single out one for a prestigious prize. Tensions mount, however, when an unflappable recently fired employee makes camp across from the factory’s gates, protesting Blanco and his business practices. On top of everything, Blanco’s behavior behind closed doors threatens to create even more trouble for the boss at the worst possible time.

Fernando León de Aranoa’s Spanish-language dark comedy The Good Boss had its world premiere last night at the San Sebastian Film Festival in front of a raucous local crowd (albeit at half-capacity due to Covid measures).
The audience-friendly film sees Javier Bardem play Blanco, a charismatic but controlling factory boss who will go to extreme lengths to protect the world he has created for himself, and to stop his affairs with the interns being exposed to his wife.
The role is a demanding one for Bardem, but he carries the narrative by delivering a nuanced and engaging performance, filling virtually every frame with subtle charm – it’s a part that is already receiving rave write-ups following the premiere in San Sebastian.
This is the latest collaboration between Bardem and director Fernando León De Aranoa, following their movies Loving Pablo and Mondays In The Sun.

We’re now a little over two months from the release of a new film by Paul Thomas Anderson and, as has become accustomed, we know almost nothing about it. With a potential title (Soggy Bottom) and a cast including Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son, Cooper Hoffman, as well as Bradley Cooper, Alana Haim, Benny Safdie, Nate Mann, Skyler Gisondo, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Destry Allyn Spielberg, and Sean Penn, the plot is some combination of high school drama, local politics, and Hollywood dealings in the 1970s San Fernando Valley.

UK festival recently moved online-only due to virus crisis.
The Glasgow Film Festival (Gff) has revealed the programme for its 2021 edition (Feb 24-March 7), which includes several award-winning festival favourites and a focus on South Korea.
The 17th edition of Gff, which recently announced it would shift online-only due to the ongoing virus crisis, includes six world premieres, two European premieres and 49 UK premieres – around a third of the event’s usual programme of 180 titles.
However, Gff co-directors Allison Gardner and Allan Hunter said the reduced number of slots had forced them to raise the bar for selection and produce a stronger programme as a result.

The Madrilenian filmmaker and the Oscar-winning actor are joining forces again after having done so 18 years ago in the successful Mondays in the Sun and three years ago in the ill-fated Loving Pablo. In mid-October, the shoot began for The Good Boss, a scathing satire on the labour market that once again brings together two huge names in Spanish cinema: Javier Bardem, the winner of the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2008 for his turn as a serial killer in No Country for Old Men by Joel and Ethan Coen; and Fernando León de Aranoa, a filmmaker who has so far scooped six Goya Awards (as both director and screenwriter). As a matter of fact, they are teaming up again after having done so – alongside Penélope Cruz – three years ago in Loving Pablo, a movie that garnered all kinds of reviews after it screened at the...

With October quickly approaching, it’s time to start looking ahead to what’s coming to all our favorite streaming services next month, and as usual, Disney Plus is first out of the gate in regards to announcing what’s on the way. We’ll get to the full list shortly, but clearly, the big highlight for many will be season 2 of The Mandalorian.
Though it took a while for the Mouse House to begin the marketing campaign for it, the past few weeks have brought us photos, posters and, of course, a stunning full-length trailer for the show’s next run, all of which promise another thrilling adventure. Rumors of behind the scenes turmoil aside, all signs point to The Mandalorian making another big splash on the platform with its second season and we can’t wait to see what Baby Yoda and Mando get up to next.

Peter Sarsgaard is set as a series regular opposite Michael Keaton in Dopesick, an eight-episode limited series based on Beth Macy’s bestselling book. Barry Levinson is set to direct the project, which hails from Empire co-creator/exec producer Danny Strong, The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer Warren Littlefield and Touchstone Television.
Written by Strong and slated to premiere in 2021, Dopesick is described as an ambitious, harrowing and compelling look into the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction. It takes viewers from a distressed Virginia mining community to the hallways of the DEA and to the opulence of “one percenter” Big Pharma Manhattan. The unsparing yet deeply human portraits of the various affected families and their intersecting stories hold up a mirror to where America is right now, while shining a hopeful light on the heroes battling the worst drug epidemic in American history.

Javier Bardem says he and his wife, Penélope Cruz, keep their Oscar statues in a special place — but he’s not telling exactly where!
The actor, who portrays Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar in 2018’s Loving Pablo, told PeopleTV during the Red Carpet Live special that he and Cruz have a pretty special place where they keep their Oscars — but because they don’t want to flaunt the statue, they keep them pretty low-key.
“Where do we keep them? In a place that’s not so obvious, that we can see in the corner of our eye, so it’s not like,...

This story about Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem and “Everybody Knows” first appeared in TheWrap’s magazine’s 2018 Cannes issue.
On the day that Penélope Cruz ended up in an ambulance on the set of “Everybody Knows,” she found out just what kind of director Asghar Farhadi is.
In the film, the opening-night attraction at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Cruz plays a woman whose teenage daughter abruptly disappears under mysterious circumstances during a wedding celebration. She spends most of the film in a state of panic and desperation, enlisting the help of an old flame played by her real-life husband, Javier Bardem.
“All of my scenes were very intense,” Cruz told TheWrap. “In one scene I have a panic attack in the car, and I ended up in an ambulance myself. It was just from hyperventilation and from my blood sugar going very high from the stress of the scene.

Javier Bardem is in negotiations to join the A-list ensemble of Legendary’s “Dune” reboot. He boards a cast that already includes Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, and Charlotte Rampling, with Oscar Isaac and Zendaya also in talks to join.
Bardem will play Stilgar, the leader of a tribe that helps Chalamet’s character. “Arrival” and “Blade Runner 2049” filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is directing and co-writing the script with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts.
Legendary closed a deal with the Frank Herbert estate in 2016 for his famous novel, granting the studio rights to both film and TV properties. The movie will be produced by Villeneuve, Mary Parent, and Cale Boyter, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Thomas Tull, and Kim Herbert serving as executive producers. Kevin J. Anderson will act as a creative consultant.
Set in the distant future, “Dune” follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis.
