‘Bridge of the Doomed’ Review
Image
Stars: Robert Lasardo, Dane Bingenheimer, Kate Watson, Michael Paré, Johnny Huang, King Jeff, Sarah French, William ‘Bill’ Connor, Thomas Haley | Written by Adrian Milnes | Directed by Michael Su

Bridge of the Doomed certainly can’t be accused of being a slow burn. Within the first few minutes, an army base comes under attack, and a group of civilians is overrun and eaten by zombies. And there’s no hesitation to put the bloody results on the screen. This is the zombie apocalypse 80s style, except it isn’t badly dubbed into English.

After the opening attack, General Vasquez sends a squad led by Lt Whitmore and Sgt. Hernandez to hold a bridge or destroy it in necessary, while they wait for reinforcements to arrive. Getting those reinforcements falls to the ominously named Colonel Charon.

Back at the bridge Privates Lin and Sanders save a woman named Susan from being raped...

New Details On the "Super Dark" Joker Movie From Martin Scorsese
It's still hard to believe Martin Scorsese is producing a Joker movie. But that's the truth, the DC villain and Batman nemesis will get an origin story directed by The Hangover helmer Todd Phillips and overseen by the master of the modern gangster movie. Last we heard, the standalone non-dceu effort would be set in the '80s in a crime-ridden Gotham City with a new actor in the role. Now we've got an update from an odd source. Here's what we've learned: What is the new info? "It’s dark. It’s like a dark Joker. As a kid, he had a permanent smile and everyone made fun of him. It’s like on the streets of Brooklyn. It’s super dark and real." Who said that? Mma fighter turned actor Brendan Schaub (Range 15...

Danny Trejo at an event for Bubble Boy (2001)
Danny Trejo Documentary to Chronicle His Life After Prison and Rise to Fame
Danny Trejo at an event for Bubble Boy (2001)
Danny Trejo’s life will soon be the subject of a new documentary titled “Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo.” Directed by Brett Harvey, the film will chronicle his tumultuous upbringings, from an early life of drugs, his time in prison, getting clean and his eventual rise to fame.

Trejo will give a a firsthand account of everything he faced in his past, to getting a second chance and changing his life, to becoming a movie star and giving back to the community.

“Today, Danny Trejo is temperate, benevolent and likely one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. But he wasn’t always this way”, said producer Adam Scorgie in a statement. “Growing up in the mean streets of Pacoima, California, he was raised and mentored by his uncle, a drug addict and armed robber. By the age of 12, he had tried heroin. By age 15, he was...

Disney finds itself atop the weekend box office for the eleventh time this year, this time it's the Pixar brand coming up big with Finding Dory. The release is another 2016 animated hit for the studio on the heels of Zootopia, as Dory broke its share of box office records this weekend including the largest opening weekend for an animated feature. It was also a good weekend for the week's other new wide release, the action-comedy Central Intelligence starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, which could be looking at a $100+ million domestic run after its opening weekend. Meanwhile, last weekend's new releases didn't exactly deliver the goods in their sophomore sessions. Scoring a number one finish for the weekend and a record opening for an animated feature, Disney and Pixar's Finding Dory brought in an estimated $136.1 million this weekend from 4,305 theaters for a $31,634 per theater average. It's an opening comparable to...

Why William Shatner Joined a Group of U.S. Military Veterans to Make a Zombie Comedy
Sean Astin, William Shatner, Keith David, Marcus Luttrell, Mindy Robinson, Jarred Taylor, and Mat Best in Range 15 (2016)
What do U.S. military veterans know about making movies? If the early success of the zombie comedy “Range 15” is any indication — kind of a lot, actually.

Billed as the first film to be produced by and star primarily U.S. military veterans, the movie claimed the Best Film Award at the GI Film Festival last month and has already generated more than $500,000 in its first week at the box office, showing on more than 550 screens through the crowdsourcing company Tugg, which lets individuals choose a film they want to pay to see in theaters. The film first hit theaters on Wednesday, June 15.

Sean Astin, William Shatner, Keith David, Marcus Luttrell, Mindy Robinson, Jarred Taylor, and Mat Best in Range 15 (2016)
“Range 15” is a veteran-made, crowd-funded, post-apocalyptic comedy that debuted on June 15 in 350 theaters. Made with a $1.8 million budget, more than $1.1 million of that came from fans through the project’s Indiegogo page, the film has already raked in $500,000 in advanced ticket sales.

The horror-comedy stars William Shatner, Sean Astin, Randy Couture, Keith David, Mindy Robinson and Danny Trejo and centers around a group of veterans who wake up after a night of partying to find out that the zombie apocalypse has spread across the United States. Together, they fight their way across the country in order to find a cure for the outbreak and restore freedom before it’s too late. “Range 15” also stars two Medal of Honor recipients, Leroy Petry and Clint Romesha, and military Mma icons Randy Couture, Brian Stann and Tim Kennedy.

The movie was made by Ranger Up founder and writer/star/producer of the film Nick Palmisciano, who teamed up with Article 15 Clothing to create the film. “Range 15” first made its debut in May at the GI Film Festival, where it took home the GI Choice Film Award.

Tickets for the film are only available online at the Tugg “Range 15” page. A handful of the screenings are already sold out, but you can get more information about a showing near you or how to get the movie to more theaters in your area.
