Max Peril's motivation of documenting the stories as a gift to Swoop-Down's mother was based on a real-life incident: Buddy Moody (Max Peril) spent considerable time and effort tracking down the mother of the friend he lost in Vietnam, and was able to share with her personal stories about her son.
The Floppy Disk villain's toothpick-tossing trait was a character idea suggested by actor Mark Forte.
During the filming of Riley's scenes, tracking/flickering issues started occurring on the VCR. Instead of fixing the problem, it was used in a few of the scenes.
