CBS is rolling out a new NCIS spin-off this fall.

NCIS: Origins will follow a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs and tell new stories about the character made famous by Mark Harmon.

NCIS: Origins is set in 1991, years before the events shown on NCIS.

On the new show, a different actor plays Gibbs, which may frustrate some die-hard NCIS fans who feel there is only one Gibbs.

Some fans also believed the job should have gone to Mark Harmon’s son, Sean Harmon. The younger Harmon guest-starred on NCIS as a young Gibbs in flashback episodes.

A younger Mike Franks (played by Kyle Schmid) is also ready to help the show thrive.

In honor of its milestone 40th season, MTV is bringing back a record-breaking 40 contestants to face off in “The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras.”

Illustrators and matte artists within the Art Directors Guild Local 800 have issued an open letter recommending guild members vote against IATSE’s tentative deal with the studio in the ongoing ratification vote. The group is specifically opposed to the language in the deal surrounding “AI Systems.”

The letter follows another issued by members of another craft discipline within Local 800, the Set Designers Council, on Friday, that was also opposed specifically to the artificial intelligence terms in the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees’ tentative deal.

“We believe the language as proposed to be both detrimental in the short term, and sets a damaging precedent for our future negotiations, as well as for our sibling locals who are about to negotiate for themselves,” the letter reads. “Contract language is nearly impossible to change once ratified. The studios have starved us into this position. We are trapped between a rock and a hard place.

Austin Stowell has been tapped to play the role of Gibbs, and his real-life age, 39, coincides with the prequel beginning about 12 years before the start of Mark Harmon's run playing the character in 2003, when he was 51. Harmon will be providing the voice of the older Gibbs as the show's narrator, and the actor is also serving as a producer on the series.
