In various interviews with filmmaker Michael Venn, he spoke about his goal to capture a different side of the opioid crisis, that being the story of hope and possibility. In this film, The Heroin Effect, he did just that, quite successfully.
While not every story in the film ends well, I absolutely came away from this feeling hopeful and clear on the direction and type of actionable solutions that we can take to effect real change in how we respond to this crisis. All of it just made so much sense to me. I hope this film will be widely viewed and inspire communities and lawmakers alike to do what needs to be done that willl "make the solution bigger than the problem", in the words of Sandi Coyle who is featured in the film. Thank you Michael Venn for putting together such a compelling film that should inspire our communities into action.

Gripping story made with compassion and understanding. I saw it with my 8th grade daughter and it helped us to understand what is happening and have deep conversations about how she can avoid this path and how our country can heal from this epidemic.

The directing is taut this subject is extremely important as we stumble through this crisis. Everyone is touched by a family member or friend who has died from Opiods. It tragic.
Have a look you will find community and learn something all at once.
