After a lackluster $42 million opening weekend and soft mid-week returns, the outlook is bleak for Disney’s “Snow White.” But despite that, it is expected to hold on to No. 1 even as five wide releases, including Amazon MGM’s “A Working Man” and A24’s “Death of a Unicorn,” are set to hit theaters.

Between Monday and Wednesday, the latest Disney remake grossed $8.6 million, bringing its domestic total to $50.8 million after six days. By comparison, the 2019 remake of “Dumbo,” opened to $45.9 million and grossed $9.8 million in its first Mon.-Wed. period before earning a second weekend total of $18.2 million, a 60% drop from its opening weekend.

“Snow White” should have a similar second weekend total, perhaps doing a little better and cracking $20 million. The one bit of good news for the film is that reception has been strong among family and female audiences, the core audience Disney needs to leg out through spring break.

Violet is a widowed mother on her first date in years, who arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry is more charming and handsome than she expected. But their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet begins being irritated and then terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.

She is instructed to tell nobody and follow instructions or the hooded figure she sees on her home security cameras will kill Violet’s young son and babysitting sister. Violet must do exactly as directed or everyone she loves will die.

Universal Pictures has released the new trailer and poster for Drop, the upcoming thriller from Blumhouse and director Christopher Landon. The film will open in theaters on April 11.

Matthew Lillard is an iconic name in the horror genre, mostly for his performance as Stu Macher in Scream, but he's also gaining recent recognition as William Afton in Five Nights at Freddy’s. However, one of his lesser-known appearances comes in Thirteen Ghosts, a movie that was criticized on its initial release but has garnered appreciation over the years. The movie is a remake of a classic William Castle feature of the same name and tells the story of a ghost hunter who collects troubled spirits. Still, Thirteen Ghosts has impressive character design and practical effects that allow it to extend beyond a 2000s cliché horror flick.

Since its launch in the 2000s, film studio Blumhouse, headed by producer Jason Blum, has contributed immensely to the modern age of horror. Because horror movies tend to have a lower budget than other mainstream films, they are easily profitable and help the genre have continuous success at the box office, regardless of quality. Blumhouse took off thanks to Paranormal Activity, an extremely low-budget found-footage movie that paved the way for a franchise.

After nearly three decades, Scream 7 is set to deliver one of the biggest twists in the franchise’s history — Matthew Lillard is returning as Stu Macher. The announcement, revealed by Deadline, has sparked speculation and excitement among horror fans, as the character was believed to have been definitively killed off in the 1996 original.

Lillard’s return marks a full-circle moment for the actor, whose role as the horror-obsessed, unhinged high schooler in Wes Craven’s Scream launched his career. While his character’s demise—via a television dropped on his head—seemed final, the Scream series has never shied away from bending its own rules. Whether through flashbacks, retcons, or unexpected narrative twists, the franchise has found ways to bring back past characters in surprising ways. The question remains: How is Stu still alive? There’s good news at the MLK weekend box office for films like Sony’s new buddy comedy “One of Them Days” as well as more milestones for Christmas holdovers “Mufasa” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” but this holiday period is proving to be a weak one for theaters.

Overall grosses for the 4-day period are expected to fall to $96-100 million, an 18% drop from last year. “Mufasa” is taking No. 1 with an estimated 4-day total of $15.5 million in its fifth weekend, which is the lowest No. 1 total seen on an MLK weekend since the unadjusted $14 million 4-day holdover total of the Brad Pitt/Anthony Hopkins western “Legends of the Fall” way back in 1995, according to Box Office Mojo.

Universal Studios is revisiting the iconic werewolf with Wolf Man, directed by Leigh Whannell and produced by Bea Sequeira, who also worked with Whannell on 2020's The Invisible Man reboot. The Wolf Man remake follows an ill-fated family on a trip back to their ancestral home deep in the woods -- which creates a threat growing from within when the father, Blake, is clawed by a feral wolf-like creature. But it's not the first big movie Sequeira has been a part of.

Her credits include The Amazing Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man 2, before focusing more on horror projects with the hit production company Blumhouse. In this interview with Cbr, Sequeira discusses her work at Blumhouse, specifically her collaborations with director Leigh Whannell, She also reflects on updating Wolf Man's story and setting for a 2025 audience, and reveals her choice for the next Universal Monsters adaptation.

The next mainline title for the beloved horror series is Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic. This new game is a sequel to Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach and its Dlc, Ruin, by Steel Wool Studios. So far, details on Secret of the Mimic have been sparse, but a short demo at select conventions in 2024 and a teaser trailer have revealed key aspects of what fans can expect from the sequel when it releases in 2025.

As per the title, Secret of the Mimic will explore the villain last seen in Ruin, the Mimic, and potentially explain how the Fazbear Entertainment brand evolved into such a successful business by showing its origins in the 1970s. Secret of the Mimic will also introduce a brand new enemy animatronic, a jack-in-the-box named Jackie, whose clown styling and accompanying music create striking parallels to past villains in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series.

The new trailer has been revealed for The Woman in the Yard. The Woman in the Yard is a new horror-thriller from Blumhouse, the studio behind hits such as M3GAN and Five Nights At Freddy's. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and features a leading cast including Danielle Deadwyler, Russell Hornsby, Okwui Okpokwasili, Estella Kahiha, and Peyton Jackson.

After an attack by a wild animal, he starts to act strangely, causing his family to be caught between the animal outside, and the monster he is becoming.

The video game adaptation Five Nights at Freddy’s (read our review Here) quickly became Blumhouse Productions’ highest-grossing movie when it reached theatres and the Peacock streaming service back in October, surpassing the likes of Split, The Invisible Man, The Black Phone, M3GAN, the recent Halloween sequel trilogy, and the Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and The Purge franchises with its haul of $295 million. Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 will be the second installment in the Five Nights at Freddy’s film franchise, and the rich history of the games provides more than enough material for Blumhouse to move forward with a sequel. The 2023 movie Five Nights at Freddy’s is the live-action adaptation of the popular video game series from developer Scott Cawthorn. Both the games and movie focus on Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, and the haunted, violent animatronic mascots that dwell within.

Riffing on the animatronic animals seen in restaurants like Chuck E. Cheese, the Five Nights at Freddy’s formula proved incredibly easy to adapt for movie audiences, helped by a cast that includes Matthew Lillard (Scream) and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games). While the ending of the first movie didn’t explicitly set up a sequel, the premise alone feels more than enough to carry on into Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and beyond.

Despite being pushed to a December 2025 release, things appear to be slowly picking up for Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Spotted by Eurogamer, several fan accounts on X have snapped images of the sign for the infamous pizzeria, as well as merchandise stands for a scene in the film.

The X account Fnaf Movie Updates recently posted images of the pizzeria, which appears to be a little worse for wear, given the brush that’s surrounding the building.

Things get even more interesting from another account, this time from katfanf, taken from Reddit. Not only do these photos show merchandise stands for what appears to be a scene from the film, but another post from the same account also shows decorations for a “Fazfest” scene.

Plans for the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise may be bigger than we thought. While we’re not even a year out from the release of the sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, it looks like Blumhouse and Universal Pictures already have a third film lined up.

According to @Katsterlingfan on Twitter (see below), sources have said that filming for Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 could begin just six months after the sequel’s release, aiming for a 2027 launch, possibly toward the end of the year. However, fans are advised to take this with a grain of salt.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is currently filming in Louisiana, and fans have discovered one of the production's outdoor sets. Its details and potential Easter eggs rekindled speculation about the sequel.

New photos for Five Nights at Freddy's 2 showed Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria in shambles, hinting there would be a significant time jump in the sequel. Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu claimed the top spot at the UK box office this week, beating out Mufasa: The Lion King and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 with £5,246,910 across its five-day opening weekend. In an even more family-unfriendly move, we’re pretty confidently saying that makes it the first UK number one to feature a full-frontal shot of an undead penis. That’s an accolade Eggers and co can really be proud of.

But that’s not the only record broken by the historical auteur’s 19th-century passion project. According to Deadline, the film out-grossed Eggers’ The Northman's entire opening weekend after its first day on release, and gives Universal the biggest opening for a horror film in the UK since its own Five Nights At Freddy’s in 2023.
