A lot of car restoration shows are about the staged dramatics between the staff or problems occurring during build. This show lets you see more of the actual restoration work taking place.

Kindig the talent!

As an automotive professional in the real world, it's really easy to identify who's the real deal on these car shows and who isn't. Unfortunately, a lot of these shows are all scripted with gimmicks and it gets old real fast. But this particular business and show is legit. By far some of the most talented fabricators out there. They're entertaining and do amazing work, but lately they seem to be spending more time on "entertaining" and a little less time showing the actual work they're performing on the cars. Overall, it's one of the better and most realist car shows on TV right now.

Best of the car "Reality" shows.

The show tosses in more doing than most which I really appreciate. You actually get to see how and why certain things are done. I enjoy the whys. The amount of drama is kept to the bare minimum thankfully. I guess you do have to some of that unfortunately. There's some wicked talented and smart people working here. I also like the way the guys aren't micro-managed to death.

For the folks dumping on Kevin, now in 2018, he's worked for Dave for 14 years. It also sounds like he and Dave go further back than that. You ever notice that there's a lot more people in the background who never get face time? He's the shop foreman. Someone has to do it. Also, he seems to be at the table when some big decisions have been made. Remember the business existed before and will after the show goes off the air. Whether you like him or not, there's a chain of command that tasks must go through. Dave does Dave things. Dave has Kevin get further into the minutia. And the guys with tools in their hands get deeper still.

Finally, a fabrication show where the cars are the main stars

My favourite hotrod show on the air currently.

Unlike some shows (Fast n Loud, Misfit Garage, I'm looking at you), this show puts the actual fabrication front and center. Sure, there's staff hijinks, but they don't account for 80% of the content, as the aforementioned shows do.

And unlike Mark Worman, "star" of Graveyard Carz, Dave Kindig comes across as a genuinely likeable human being.

Keep up the good work, guys.

Do without Kevdogg

Kevin adds no value to the show. His participation is suited for a kids show, from cookies to rubber stamps he is lowering the bar. Think about it !!!!!

Well worth a look...

With all the overly dramatic reality shows it's refreshing to watch something that actually captures your interest, shows cars being restored as well as the difficulties, mistakes, fabrication and painting.

I love that they show the whole process including manufacturing upholstery which is really interesting. And they don't create unnecessary drama to try and enhance the show, a nice change. I also noticed that they will attempt anything and have no bias towards a particular car manufacturer although the individual workers do and that's ok.

Dave's colour palette continually impresses and at times I would never think to put colours together that he does but they always work and work well. Dave has a great presence, quiet, dry humour and can take a joke as well. He treats his staff very well and is a great boss. Every staff member seems to take great pride in their work and they produce truly inspiring vehicles.

However, they need to dial back the scripted banter, it looks and sounds unnatural. The humour is fun but at times feels a little forced and goes on a little long, everyone wants to be a comedian. Thankfully Dave reigns it in before it becomes annoying. At times the show feels a little saccharin and they need to make sure the intention of the show is it's primary goal. Kevdog is the Workshop Manager and if he is that knowledgeable he needs to step up. I don't see much evidence of his knowledge, management or organisational abilities. He acts like the class clown that everyone tolerates, this needs fixing.

Interestingly enough a number of cars that they work on appear for sale on their website. Yet when they complete the cars the owners just about cry and overly enthuse on how much they love the car. If so, why is it up for sale? Curious.

Overall this is a solid 8 for the detail they show and the likeability of the cast without overdoing it.

Best cars = Best car show

I love every second of this show. The cars are the real stars. Instead of making up fake drama, they allow you an inside look at how the best custom cars on earth are built. They are true metal artists. I just wish I knew how much one of these builds cost!

easy to enjoy if u like custom cars and jokes

You need to know already about classic cars to like the custom work they show, and how is made, also many jokes works and made the show light when is needed. To me is one of the best shows,i have watched so many times this that already expect to see how they build or show details while they joke about it.

Less drama please

This shop has some of the best talent in the industry that I've seen. They do amazing work. Stick with that; don't need stamps, cookies, donuts, Kevin's stick drawings, etc. More Will.

One of the best car shows out there

Very impressed with this show. The quality and craftsmanship is very very impressive. Not only do they keep me entertained but they show everything that goes into customizing and how much work and skill is involved. Kev Dog is kind of a goof ball but he's growing on me. I was glad they are starting to come out with new content. I do enjoy that Dave is a VW fan since I'm into German cars. I have worked on a few old school bugs but it's been mostly 90s to early 2000 Audi, BMWs, Mercedes, and few Porsches for me. I know that their specialty is old muscle cars but I wouldn't mind seeing some Audi/VW turbo tuning. Maybe something they'll introduce in the future.

Love this show!

The product is amazing! The builds, the craftsmanship, the skill = outstanding! Let's face it, it is a show, so some of the liberties or scripts can be expected. I've watched every episode, most more than a few times.

"Kevdogg"... you're no "Chumlee"!

As it is, I don't as much watch this show as I endure it. Dave and the shop crew are very talented and likable people... but Kevin Schiele is one of the most annoying and imbecilic individuals in the TV universe. He serves absolutely no purpose in enhancing the production of this show. His so-called humor is completely lame and, at times, offensive... e.g. "This Cadillac has so many parts on it that it might has well have been designed by a German." {S2 E11 "Copper, Copper, Copper"}. I suspect that Kevin thinks that he's another "Chumlee" (from "Pawn Stars"). While it's true that "Chumlee" acts the part of a braggadocios nitwit, the difference between him and Schiele is that "Chumlee" is naturally funny and, above all, doesn't actually take himself all that seriously... in other words, his obnoxiousness is just an act. The same, unfortunately for us viewers, cannot be said about "Kevdogg"! (In closing, let me paraphrase Abraham Lincoln: One "G" is good enough for God, but apparently not for kevdoGG! I gave the show 5 stars... lose Kevin and I'd give it 9 or 10!

Get rid of Kevin

Great show, love the high quality custom work. The absolute infantile stupidity of Kevin in his failed attempts at humor is getting really old.

Jokes are getting really BAD and CORNY with each season

Kevin eating green gummy soldiers and screwing around in the shop was a bit over the top. Too much drama and not enough about the work, would like to see it go back to the earlier seasons.

Women in bikinis, lingerie, skimpy outfits on walls

Unfortunately, you will see inappropriate pictures of women being objectified in Kev dogs office as well as Will's office- so just be mindful knowing if your kids are watching this or if you don't like looking at such content because these photos are clearly seen not blurred, and it's many images like what they call a "jerk off wall" .... A wall jerk guys jerk off too. These images on the walls are extremely gross and degrading to women. There will also have some of these images in the show room as well but not as many nor prevalent as Kevins and Wills office.

Where the black folks at

Seriously, not one black person in the entire company? to say that the show lacks diversity would be an understatement.

Lots of talk

I like watching the restorations, which is only about 10% of the show. Then other 90% is them talking and trying to be funny and visits to car shows. When they are restoring, it is good to watch, the other stuff should be cut out. I can do without the constant yak yak yak of people who are only talented at car building.
