Christopher Nolan thinks one of his biggest movies didn’t get the love it deserved. He recently talked about The Dark Knight Rises and called it an underrated film in his career. In his own words, “I don’t have a favorite of any of my films, but I think The Dark Knight Rises is an underrated movie. There are things in there that we did that are pretty subversive and pretty shocking. It’s as close as I’ll get to adapting A Tale of Two Cities.” Nolan believes there’s more going on in the movie than people usually talk about, and he sees it as more meaningful than most viewers give it credit for.
The Dark Knight Rises came out in 2012 and closed out Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The story takes place eight years after The Dark Knight. Bruce Wayne has disappeared from the public and given up being Batman.

Christopher Nolan has said that The Dark Knight Rises doesn’t get enough credit. In his words, “I don’t have a favorite of any of my films, but I think The Dark Knight Rises is an underrated movie. There are things in there that we did that are pretty subversive and pretty shocking. Just imagine it, three of WWE’s trending stars moving beyond the WWE ring and into a parallel universe where they are ready to take on Batman at Gotham City street. Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, and Bron Breakker all of them have an uncanny resemblance to the Joker, the Penguin, and Bane and fans can’t stop talking about it. Ever since they partnered together at WrestleMania 41, WWE’s “Trifecta of Terror” has created chaos on Raw, and their personas and antics echo those of Batman’s rogues gallery.
Rollins has shown the same penchant for wild unpredictability as the Joker, Heyman’s clever scheming mastermind style shows similarities to the Penguin, and Bron Breakker’s raw power and intimidation factor as Bane can not be ignored. We will detail how these three WWE stars channel Batman’s rogues gallery through their antics in the ring.

It's been far too long since the most recent season of House of the Dragon concluded on HBO, and the wait for new episodes rages on and on, but at least we're continuing to receive news about what's to come in season 3. As filming continues on the highly anticipated third season, we just learned about three new cast members who have been cast in some key roles.
Revenge alum Barry Sloane joins the cast as Ser Adrian Redfort, who is one of the members of Rhaenyra Targaryen's Queensguard. Sloane has also appeared in shows like Hollyoaks, Longmire, Shameless, Six, and he will also appear in the upcoming second and final of The Sandman on Netflix. But as a Revenge fan, I know him best as Emily Thorne's former flame Aiden Mathis.
House of the Dragon season 3 also adds Tom Cullen as Ser Luthor Largent, who's a commander for the City Watch of King's Landing.

Batman has had an endless number of iconic comic storylines over his 85-year crime-fighting career. Whether it be classics like The Killing Joke and The Dark Knight Returns or more modern gems like The Court of Owls and The White Knight, every DC fan has their favorite. However, when it comes to origin stories for The Caped Crusader, none are as popular as Batman: Year One. The series by writer Frank Miller and artist David Mazzucchelli has some of the most memorable moments in the character’s history. Now McFarlane Toys is honoring Year One with new moody action figures.
A part of McFarlane's seven-inch scale DC Multiverse line, there are two new Gold Label figures based on Year One. This would be Batman and Lieutenant James Gordon in their more youthful designs. The figures will go up for pre-order exclusively at Walmart later this month on April 16th.

Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone have collaborated on multiple projects over the years, and we’re not just talking about the four Expendables movies they made together. Stallone also wrote the screenplay for the 2013 Statham action film Homefront, which was directed by Gary Fleder and based on a novel by Chuck Logan. Now, Statham and Stallone are continuing their working relationship with the action thriller A Working Man, which also reunites Statham with his The Beekeeper director David Ayer – and looks to be very much along the same lines as that film. A Working Man is set to reach theatres on March 28th, and in anticipation of its release, we decided to put together a list of everything we know about the movie. Here we go:

Ever since Jason Statham shot to stardom, I’ve found myself quite the fan. Whether it’s Crank, The Transporter, or Safe, I dig the guy. And his latest, the David Ayer directed A Working Man, happens to offer a fun time with the on-screen action. Jason Statham portrays Levon Cade, a good dad and a construction worker. However, when a local girl is taken, he decides to help out a friend, and retool his special skills. Yep, the dude has a history in the world of counter-terrorism. The film also stars Michael Pena, Jason Flemyng, and David Harbour.
We recently had the pleasure of speaking one on one with both Mr. Harbour and Mr. Ayer. For David, he discussed working with Ayer and Statham. And while he has a smaller role, the actor commands the screen every single time. As for Ayer, we talked about taking on an action...

In Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins," the defining question of the film is: "Why do we fall?" The answer, which Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) learns again and again, is "So we can learn to pick ourselves back up."
The commonly cited influence on "Batman Begins" is "Batman: Year One" by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, the definitive origin of Batman. The other two parts of the "Dark Knight" trilogy have been similarly tied to famous Batman stories: "The Dark Knight" is "The Long Halloween" plus "The Killing Joke," featuring a Joker (Heath Ledger) who wants to break Gotham City's soul and succeeds in turning Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) into Two-Face. Then "The Dark Knight Rises" closes out the myth by combining "Knightfall," "The Dark Knight Returns," and "No Man's Land" to bring Batman low so he can climb back up to meet his greatest and last challenge.

Netflix’s “The Witcher” puts its spin on “The Little Mermaid” in “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.” Set during the events of Season 1, the new animated film adapts from Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story “A Little Sacrifice” (which was itself inspired by the classic fairytale).
The film follows Geralt and Jaskier to a seaside town to investigate attacks, only to wind up in the middle of a long-brewing conflict between the humans and merpeople before it turns into all-out war. The adaptation brings some of its own spin to the tale, featuring voices that “Witcher” fans will recognize from the games and live-action series alike — as well as some newcomers.

Batman: The Animated Series remains a towering achievement in animated storytelling, but some elements don’t hold up well to modern scrutiny. Premiering in 1992, the DC show revolutionized superhero animation with its mature themes, striking visuals, and memorable characters. Batman: Tas’s impact on Batman’s mythology and its influence on subsequent adaptations are undeniable. However, as with any work of its era, some aspects have not stood the test of time. Cultural norms, technological advancements, and changing perspectives on storytelling have exposed flaws in the series. While its legacy remains intact, certain elements feel outdated or problematic by today’s standards.
When Btas debuted, it was groundbreaking in its approach to animated storytelling. Its noir-inspired visuals, deep character development, and willingness to tackle mature themes set it apart from other children’s programming. DC's latest 2024 release just pulled off the one element of The Dark Knight trilogy that the story seemed to struggle most with, and I certainly wasn't expecting it over a decade after the series ended. The Dark Knight movie trilogy is deservedly regarded as one of the best film series of all time, and this reputation has naturally placed it on a high pedestal. Unfortunately, with high regard also comes high expectations, and many criticisms of the series reflect the incredibly high standards it set for itself as a result of its quality.
As someone whose experience watching The Dark Knight trilogy helped create a lifelong obsession with superhero movies, it's hard to say any part of it is bad. However, some parts are stronger than others, and the fact the best moments from The Dark Knight trilogy are so astronomically good means that less strong moments can come off worse than they might elsewhere.

‘Absolute Batman’ is a DC Comics series written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. It started on October 9, 2024, as part of DC’s new Absolute Universe.
The story follows 24-year-old Bruce Wayne, a civil engineer by day who becomes the vigilante Batman at night. Meanwhile, he’s secretly being watched by agent Alfred Pennyworth.
The series is radically different as it reimagines classic Batman characters with fresh twists. In this version, Catwoman, Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, and Killer Croc grew up alongside Bruce Wayne, sharing a near-family bond.
A new take on the Joker has also debuted, along with revamped versions of Alfred and Jim Gordon. Writer Scott Snyder teased even more surprises, hinting that fan-favorite characters will soon appear in the story.

With DC Studios setting out to create a single shared Dcu (with a handful of "Elseworlds" projects like The Batman franchise), it's unclear what that means for Warner Bros. Animation's direct-to-dvd DC offerings.
2024 has seen the release of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths and Watchmen, though July's San Diego Comic-Con didn't bring the usual annual announcements about what's next. As a result, most fans expect these movies to be quietly scrapped.
Now, though, it appears there either are - or were - plans for an animated trilogy based on Batman: Knightfall.

Warner Bros. Discovery is diving into the animated world with an ambitious project centered on one of DC Comics’ most iconic storylines.
Jeff Wamester, celebrated for his work in the Tomorrowverse series, is taking the helm of a new animated trilogy inspired by Batman: Knightfall.
This is an exciting moment for fans, as the Knightfall saga has never been fully adapted into animation or film despite its pivotal place in Batman’s legacy.
The trilogy’s first installment, titled Batman: Knightfall: Part 1, was recently registered on the Entertainment Identifier Registry (Eidr), a database that catalogs audiovisual content.
Originally slated for a 2024 release with a one-hour runtime, these details may shift, as Warner Bros. often opts for longer formats, with previous films exceeding 80 minutes.
Batman: Knightfall is best known for the dramatic showdown where Bane breaks Batman’s back, a scene etched into pop culture and famously reimagined in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.

During its seven-year run, Once Upon a Time featured a collection of multiple different fairytale and Disney characters, ranging from Snow White and Cinderella, to the Frozen characters Anna and Elsa. However, despite the show trying to stay up to date with recent Disney releases, one Disney princess who never appeared in the show was Moana. Although she didnt appear in person, elements of the hit 2016 film Moana did make it into the plot of the show. Maui was a fearsome sea legend, introduced in the shows seventh season. Although Maui didnt appear himself, his famous fish hook did.
Mauis fish hook wasnt the first mythical item to appear on the show. When it was difficult to incorporate a popular movie into Once Upon a Time, the show tended to turn the concept of it into mythology. An example of this was the will-o'-the-wisp in season 5, the Pegasus flag, or...

Bane is coming back and it looks like he is ready to break more than just the Bat. Yes, James Gunn and Peter Safran are reportedly taking another iconic Batman villain to the big screen, and this time, Bane is getting the spotlight he deserves. We’ve seen Bane in live action projects before — first in film with a forgettable appearance in Batman & Robin and then with Tom Hardy’s unforgettable portrayal in The Dark Knight Rises. We also can't forget Shane West's imposing performance in Gotham. But now, we’re on the brink of something bigger, something bolder: a Bane-led movie in the DC Universe, which he will reportedly be co-leading with Deathstroke.
For those who need a refresher, Bane is more than just the guy who broke Batman’s back. He’s an intellectual powerhouse — a villain with the brain and brawn combo that makes him...

The Justice League heroes of the 1990s come together to pay homage to an iconic cover, creating the perfect nostalgic tribute in the process. During the 90s, DC introduced a plethora of new characters, some of whom took up the mantles of classic heroes, such as Green Lantern. Now, artist Kerry Callen has brought them together in a perfect piece of fan art, complete with a major Easter Egg.
Kerry Callen has also worked for Mad Magazine.
Kerry Callen unveiled the piece in a post on Instagram. He prefaced the post by saying the art was for a commission. The piece shows some of DCs biggest heroes of the 1990s, such as Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, Green Arrow Connor Hawke and the Azrael Batman, sitting around a table, holding what appears to be a seance. Above them in a cloud of smoke are the heroes of the classic Justice League: Superman,...

Villains really are the new superheroes.
DC Studios has tapped screenwriter Matthew Orton (“Captain America: Brave New World”) to write a feature film that will involve Batman villains Bane and Deathstroke, Variety has confirmed. The project is still in its infancy: There are no stars or director attached, and DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have been clear that they will not greenlight a project until they are satisfied with a complete screenplay.
The movie follows a growing trend in the superhero space of projects focusing as much on the villains as on the heroes, from the ongoing HBO series “The Penguin” and Disney+ series “Agatha All Along” to Warner Bros. upcoming sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux” and Sony’s upcoming Marvel adaptations “Venom: The Last Dance” and “Kraven the Hunter.”

DC Studios is going all in on its villains with Joker: Folie Deux hitting theaters and The Penguin on HBO. Now it looks like James Gunn and Peter Safran's next gamble is to pair Bane and Deathstroke up in a movie. Gunn is currently working on his new Dcu, which so far has a wide selection of different projects from the animated series Creature Commandos debuting later this year, and both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2 set for release in 2025. These will subsequently be joined by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in 2026 with a Lanterns series in the same year. Now, it looks like another project will be entering development, putting the spotlight on two iconic DC villains.

James Gunn's new cinematic DC Universe doesn't even officially kick off until this December with "Creature Commandos." Yet, a new film has already been added to the slate. The Hollywood Reporter claims that DC Studios is moving forward with a film starring A-List DC villains Bane and Deathstroke/Slade Wilson. The script is being penned by Matthew Orton, one of the credited writers on "Captain America: Brave New World."
Many of DC Comics' most popular characters are Batman villains, so they've been elevated from heels to stars: think of Joker, Penguin, and Harley Quinn, all of whom have all received their own character-focused shows and/or movies. This untitled Bane & Deathstroke project is the latest in this line.

If Adam West or Michael Keaton are your favorite actors to ever portray Batman, you're in for a treat. McFarlane Toys has cowls based on the Batman TV series from the 1960s, Tim Burton;s 1989 Batman, and one based on the Batman: Knightfall comic from the 1990s all for sale. While they don't release until November, fans can place their pre-orders now for around $14.99 each for their favorite of the trio from usual toy retailers.
Each cowl has a display pedestal and stands about seven inches tall, the Knightfall one comes in a little taller at 7 and 3/5 inches, so there's no need to worry about them taking up a ton of space either. If these smaller replicas are not your thing, then there is another option, although it is a little harder to get your hands on right now.

After watching a range of Bane's misadventures in Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, I still can't decide if I love or hate the DC show's version of the character. Bane has a unique place in Batman's rogues gallery, being well-known to broad audiences, but with relatively little adaptation onto the big or small screens. With Bane's Knightfall story being one of my first "big" comic reads, and The Dark Knight Rises releasing as my love of superheroes began to truly blossom, I've always had a soft spot for Bane that has made his comparative lack of adaptations feel like a true shame.
As such, Bane becoming a quasi-main character in Kite Man: Hell Yeah is something of a relief, as the DC animated show features the character in a capacity that is really above any series prior. However, this makes its distinct depiction of Bane all the more crucial, and makes...

The '90s brought changes, defeats, and comebacks for DC heroes - like Batman's fall and rise in "Knightfall" and "Knightsend." The Jsa makes a spectacular return in 1999, a team mix of old and new heroes fighting dark forces, setting up an intrigue-filled series. From "Batman/Dracula: Red Rain" to "Kingdom Come," the '90s showcased iconic DC tales, balancing hero battles with deep thematic explorations.
The 1990s are known for many things when it comes to comics, from edgy stories to shocking events, but DC Comics managed to maintain great consistency throughout the years. These years do contain some of the more absurd series and concepts, but also delivered character-defining moments and epic events. Secret Six writer Gail Simone shares her favorite moment, crediting artist Nicola Scott's talent. Secret Six #10 sees antiheroes Vandal Savage and Bane forge a connection when Bane tries to stop using Venom. The series follows a group of villains, exploring their unique relationships and principles without toning down their potential for evil.
One of the things that makes Batman's villains so fantastic is the fact they are complex characters who have complex desires.
