Kill Switch: new trailer, starring Dan Stevens
Joseph Baxter May 16, 2017

A brand new trailer for sci-fi action movie Kill Switch, starring Dan Stevens, has landed...

Update: A second trailer has now landed for this one. Which looks like this...

Here's our story on the original trailer from the start of the month...

Dan Stevens has been a busy man these past few years, evidenced by the debut trailer for one of the many projects on his docket: sci-fi action film Kill Switch. However, the trailer showcases a rather unconventional effort with cinematography so reminiscent of a first-person-shooter video game, you’d think that this was a trailer for a movie adaptation of Half-Life. For the record, it’s not.

Chicago Justice Season 1 Episode 1 Review: Fake
When Chicago Justice was announced, many people asked "Do we really need a Chicago lawyer show?" Based on Chicago Justice Season 1 Episode 1, the answer is we most certainly do.

"Fake" is everything that Chicago Justice needed to be and everything that a great legal drama should be. It's a smartly written hour with genuine suspense that provokes meaningful discussion, and the Law & Order references are a very nice touch for anyone who knows their Dick Wolf series history.

It even gets particularly thorny when State's Attorney Mark Jefferies, who is as politically minded as he is legally minded, makes his top litigator Peter Stone aware that both Stone's...

Wesley Snipes, Philip Winchester, and Charity Wakefield in The player (2015)
‘The Player’ Is Canceled – Why Are These 7 Lower-Rated Shows Still on Air?
Wesley Snipes, Philip Winchester, and Charity Wakefield in The player (2015)
NBC’s “The Player” rode the ratings bench for its entire 9-episode run this fall. While the series’ final whistle blows tonight, there remains at least some semblance of life from 9 other broadcast series that are actually faring worse than the Wesley Snipes drama. At 1.3, “The Player” rounds up in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic to the same number as CBS’ “CSI: Cyber” and a pair of Fox shows, “Bob’s Burgers” and “MasterChef Junior”–but is actually higher rated when the rating is extended out to the hundredth of a point. To be fair to those nets, “CSI” skews above the age.

Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Fall TV's Slow Death March: How "Trimmed" Became the New "Canceled"
Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
This story first appeared in the Nov. 13 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. To receive the magazine, click here to subscribe. What does it take to get a show canceled these days? Rather than yank Wesley Snipes' little-watched thriller The Player, NBC on Oct. 23 cut the episode order from 13 to nine. The same day, ABC trimmed Don Johnson's Blood & Oil from 13 episodes to 10. And four days after that, NBC's low-rated comedy Truth Be Told had three episodes slashed. All of it came after an early October move by Fox to chop three

"Limitless" To Live, "Player" & "Oil" Die?
The verdict on four more Fall launched series have seemingly been revealed.

The news is very good for CBS' "Limitless" and "Code Black". The former has scored a full season pick-up, while the latter has received orders foe six additional scripts which means it has a good chance of going to a full season.

In Live+Same Day numbers, "Limitless" has been averaging a 1.7 rating and nine million viewers while "Code Black" is doing a 1.3 and 7.4 million viewers.

The news isn't so rosy for several other shows - notably ABC's Don Johnson-led "Blood and Oil" and NBC's Wesley Snipes-led "The Player". Both shows have seen their initial thirteen episode orders now cut to ten and nine respectively.

Both shows have been low raters and critical flops. 'Oil' has stablised at a 1.1 rating in adults 18-49, while "The Player" episodes average a 0.9 rating.

'Strike Back' finale review: Did Stonebridge & Scott go out in a blaze of glory?
Jamie Bamber, Robson Green, Daniel MacPherson, Sullivan Stapleton, Philip Winchester, Michelle Lukes, Warren Brown, Alin Sumarwata, and Varada Sethu in Strike Back (2010)
A few thoughts on the end of "Strike Back" coming up just as soon as I'm just a guy carrying something that happens to be white... "Ain't my fault you're the good guys, huh?" -Faber "Hey, Faber? We were never that good." -Stonebridge "Strike Back" wrapped up its UK run earlier this year, which meant that recent news about a possible sequel film with Stonebridge and Scott was not a spoiler to anyone living in England or watching through extra-legal means. But given the design of the series in its Cinemax-affiliated incarnation, I'm not sure anyone was expecting either Michael or Damien to go out in a blaze of slo-mo glory like Faber talked about. I mean, it could have happened, and the finale went for a fake-out earlier with Scott appearing to die after winning the fight in the river. But that seemed more a case of "Strike Back...

Strike Back: Feature Film in Development
Strike Back might be headed to the big screen. The series was cancelled after five seasons, but Sky is looking to bring back the characters and series, and they have asked Cinemax to join them.

Entertainment Weekly reported on Friday that Left Bank Pictures is in the early talking stages to bring this series to the big screen. If talks are successful, the movie would start production in South America in 2016.

Will the stars of Strike Back return if the project goes forward? It is being reported that Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester would "likely" reprise their roles. Stapleton currently stars on NBC's Blindspot and Winchester is also starring on an NBC series, The Player.

If this project moves forward and is successful at the box office, it could be the start of a Strike Back theatrical franchise.
