Exclusive: We can tell you that James Franco and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones are leading the action thriller The Razor’s Edge from producer Corey Large and filmmaker Demian Lichtenstein (3000 Miles to Graceland).
Red Sea Media is handling international sales and will debut the film for buyers at the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes. Cameras roll June 25 in Georgia.
Lichenstein is helming off a screenplay he wrote with Vance Duplechin. After a mob hitman vows to leave his deadly past behind, he faces an impossible choice when his daughter is kidnapped and the woman he loves becomes a target of the syndicate. He is forced to undertake one final, perilous mission while being pursued by an assassin even more lethal.
Pic is executive produced by Kirk Shaw. BondIt Media Capital is financing with Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor and Jordan Nott also executive producing.
“I’m excited that we have signed the superbly talented actors James, Suki and Tommy Lee to bring The Razor’s Edge to the big screen. They are perfectly suited to embody the protagonists in director Demian’s script,” said Large. “We cannot wait to begin filming this taut thriller next month with an assist from our seasoned executive producer Kirk,” he added.
“We’ve worked with Corey on over a dozen projects throughout the years and always appreciate his ability to get projects made in many different industry climates. We’re excited for another adventure here with Corey and his team,” commented Bond It Capital co-founder CEO Matthew Helderman.
Large is producing through his 308 Enterprises. His other feature production, Assassination directed by Rain Man Oscar winner Barry Levinson and starring Academy Award-winner Al Pacino and BAFTA winning Shia Labeouf is shooting this fall.
Franco was Oscar nominated for Best Actor for 127 Hours and is a 2x Golden Globe winner for James Dean, in which he played the title role, and took home Best Actor in Miniseries, and for The Disaster Artist which he won Best Actor Feature Comedy/Musical. He starred in Sony’s original Spider-Man trilogy from Sam Rami.
Oscar, Emmy, SAG, Golden Globe, and Palme d’Or winner Jones counts an Oscar and Golden Globe supporting actor win for The Fugitive and starred in Sony’s Men in Black trilogy. Jones won a Lead Actor Emmy for NBC’s The Executioners’ Song, and a Cannes Palme D’Or for Best Actor for Sony Pictures Classics’ The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada which he also directed. He also directed The Homesman which starred Hilary Swank.
Franco is represented by UTA and Anonymous Content, Jones is represented by CAA and Jacobson, Russell, Saltz, Nassim & De La Torre.

This Star Trek article contains minor spoilers for Lower Decks Season 2, Episode 6.
Tasha Yar deserved better. When the oil slick creature known as Armus killed off Tasha in The Next Generation episode “Skin of Evil,” the fandom let out a collective groan. As its first season wrapped up, Tng was already down one fantastic character and the franchise wouldn’t get another female head-of-security on a regular basis until Nhan appeared in Star Trek: Discovery, 31 years later. But, like some kind of self-aware rogue A.I., the canon of Star Trek itself seems to want justice for Tasha Yar. The latest example comes from the coda of the Lower Decks episode, “The Spy Humongous,” further proving that, decades later, Trek canon is still looking to avenge Tasha Yar. Here’s how the hilarious Lower Decks Easter egg went down…

Amazon’s IMDb TV, continuing its push into third-party distribution, has set a deal with Comcast to be integrated into the company’s Xfinity broadband and pay-tv platforms.
It is the first agreement for IMDb TV and a pay-tv operator. Comcast has led its peer group in weaving streaming services into its Xfinity Flex and X1 platforms, pursuing a strategy of reducing friction for viewers as they toggle between pay-tv and streaming. In recent years, it has made Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, YouTube and other streaming outlets available to its subscribers through the Xfinity interface.
IMDb TV, which launched as Freedive in early 2019, has ramped up quickly with a slate of original shows and appeal to advertisers in the burgeoning ad-supported streaming sector. Amazon said earlier this year the service was the main reason its ad-supported reach had topped 55 million monthly active viewers, more than double the level of at early 2020.

“Leverage” returned on Friday in the form of the eight-episode revival, “Leverage: Redemption,” on the streaming service IMDb TV. But Timothy Hutton, whose character Nate Ford served as the center of the original TNT series, does not appear on screen.
“Leverage,” which ran for five seasons on TNT between 2008 and 2012, starred Hutton as a former insurance investigator who becomes the leader of the Robin Hood-esque gang of criminals who steal from the corrupt and powerful to avenge their victims. The original series ended with Nate (Hutton) and his new fiancée Sophie (Gina Bellman) walking away from the criminal life for good, handing the keys to their organization over to the rest of the crew.
The decision to exclude Hutton from the revival came after the Oscar-winning actor was accused of rape last year by former child actress Sera Johnston. Johnston told Buzzfeed that Hutton and a friend raped her at...

Set to go to trial next month, Frank Darabont and CAA’s more than seven-year legal battle with AMC over hundreds of millions in profits from The Walking Dead now looks likely to still be going on even after the zombie apocalypse series is over – maybe.

That’ll be over eight years after the pink slipped Darabont and CAA first filed against AMC in late 2013 over the once-blockbuster drama based on Robert Kirkman’s comics

“CMT Crossroads” took a hiatus during a year in which the natural reaction of most musician strangers meeting at a crossroads would have been to nervously back off in the other direction. But CMT’s intermittent series will resume later this month with the pairing of Margo Price and Nathaniel Rateliff, recently filmed as the franchise’s first fresh taping in more than a year.
The Rateliff/Price episode premieres March 26 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt.
Price said she was” so excited to sing with my friend Nathaniel and both of our bands… Through the years the two of us have sat in and sang with both Willie and his son Lukas, but we have never sang together on our own material.”
Said Rateliff, “Through the last five years the band and I constantly crossed paths with Margo Price and her band at Farm Aids, the Outlaw Fest, Newport Folk and more places.

Margo Price and Nathaniel Rateliff will pair up for the latest episode of CMT Crossroads, the cable network’s live-music mashup series. The fellow Midwesterners — Rateliff’s from Missouri; Price from Illinois — will collaborate on each other’s songs during a performance filmed at the Factory in Franklin, Tennessee, south of Nashville. On the set list: Rateliff’s “Say It Louder,” off his 2018 album with his band the Night Sweats, Tearing at the Seams, and Price’s “Twinkle Twinkle,” off last year’s That’s How Rumors Get Started.

Paramount's Bob Marley Biopic has found its director in King Richard helmer Reinaldo Marcus Green. Deadline reports that Green has officially boarded the project, which will be produced by the late reggae icon's family members Ziggy Marley, Rita Marley, and Cedella Marley on behalf of Tuff Gong. Robert Teitel is also producing.
"Bob Marley's music lives on in all of us," Reinaldo Marcus Green told Deadline in a statement. "His lyrics transcend continents, color, creed, and generations of people. It heals. It fights. It bleeds love and truth. It's a true honor and privilege to work with Ziggy and the Marley Family, and Paramount Pictures to bring his story to life. Audiences want to know the real Bob, the man as well as the legend. I trust this film will bring us closer to understanding his journey, his music, and continue to carry the torch of his legacy with humility and grace,...

Just as the Super Bowl traditionally inhibits studios from releasing new titles to theaters, there were few fresh films available on home platforms. As a result, four titles — all previously ranked #1 on multiple charts — took the top spots again. The exception was Netflix, which debuted “Malcolm & Marie” February 5. Starring Zendaya and John David Washington, it immediately became the streamer’s most-watched film.
Long-running, still-Premium VOD titles “Greenland” and “News of the World,” along with $5.99 rentals “Tenet” and “Let Him Go,” are this week’s chart toppers. “News” and “Tenet” made all four lists (as did “The War with Grandpa”). “Let Him Go” failed to make Spectrum’s top 10, with its price reduction coming too late to impact the list.
There were a few surprises. Why is “2067,” an Australian science-fiction film starring Ryan Kwanten and Kodi Smit McPhee, available for $0.99 at Apple? (It’s more expensive elsewhere.) “Promising Young Woman,...

Sacha Baron Cohen scored three Golden Globe nominations on Wednesday, tying Jamie Foxx and Helen Mirren’s record for the most nods by a performer in a single year. Very nice!
Baron Cohen was a double acting nominee, earning recognition in comedy or musical acting for his return as Kazakh journalist Borat Sagdiyev in “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and in drama acting for his portrayal as Abbie Hoffman in “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” Cohen’s third nod was for producing the “Borat” sequel, a nominee for best musical or comedy.
“Wawaweewah! I’m shocked and humbled to be nominated for 3 Golden Globes,” Baron Cohen wrote Wednesday morning on Twitter.
Wawaweewah! I'm shocked and humbled to be nominated for 3 Golden Globes, and congratulations to the incredible @MariaBakalova96 too!
We're so honoured–and just in case we don't win any, I've already hired Rudy Giuliani to contest the results. pic.twitter.

While there were several double Golden Globe nominations this year for actors and actresses, Sacha Baron Cohen is in rare form earning three noms, tying with Helen Mirren and Jamie Foxx for the most ever by a performer in one year at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association ceremony.
Cohen earned Golden Globe noms as a producer in the Best Comedy or Musical feature category and Best Actor Comedy or Musical for the sequel to his 2006 movie, Amazon’s Borat Subsequent Movie Film, in addition to a Best Supporting Role nod for his turn as Abbie Hoffman in Netflix’s The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Previously, Helen Mirren earned three noms in 2007 for Miramax’s The Queen (Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama), HBO’s Elizabeth I (Best Actress, Miniseries or TV Movie), and PBS’s Prime Suspect: The Final Act (Best Actress, Miniseries or TV Movie). Mirren won two out...

The streaming premiere of Justin Timberlake’s “Palmer” was touted by Apple TV Plus as powering its ‘“most-watched weekend” since the platform debuted just over a year ago. The film has Timberlake playing Eddie Palmer, who returns home from prison and bonds with a boy from a troubled home.
However, it’s singer Nathaniel Rateliff’s end-credits song, “Redemption,” garnering awards buzz for as the race for best original song continues. Variety has the exclusive premiere of his solo acoustic rendering of the theme song (below).
Says Rateliff, “For me, the song is about what I saw in the film, and what I see out there in the world, of continuing to struggle until we find some kind of peace and some kind of answer. It’s about hope and connection. At the end of the song, there’s the line ‘we keep running until we learn to find peace’.” Rateliff says.

This week offered little new on VOD. Did anticipation of “The Little Things” debuting on HBO Max as well as in theaters make others avoid the week? It left room for two titles to continue flying high with “Tenet” at $5.99, and “News of the World” at $19.99. Like last week, each placed #1 on two of the four charts we track.
Ongoing interest in Christopher Nolan’s film may seem ironic as it was the last major Warners release to see a traditional rollout. The studio reportedly recoups 70 percent of VOD rental; if there were 1 million rentals in a week, at the current price of $5.99, it would generate nearly $4.2 million. That would justify delaying a move to HBO Max.
As a PVOD, Universal sees a more generous revenue share of 80 percent on “News of the World” rentals. For a $4 million return — a nice bounty for a film with a reported $38 million budget...

Little has changed on the VOD charts this week. “News of the World” and “Tenet” still placed #1 on two of the charts we follow, although this week “News” ranked higher overall, placing #2 and #3 elsewhere. “Tenet” is on the lower half of two lists.
“News” at #1 at revenue-based FandangoNow, which has six premium-priced titles leading its list. It’s also the top title at Spectrum Channel, which ranks by transactions, and near the top at Amazon TV and Google Play. That suggests Universal has another breakout success with its strategy of providing three weeks in theaters before PVOD.
“Tenet,” which opened in theaters in September, continues to add revenues at $5.99. “News,” now in its fifth weekend in theaters, was #4 at the box office this weekend with a total of $9.6 million so far. (Netflix bought its international territories.) With a reported budget of $38 million before marketing, the studio may see a decent profit all in.

Following a long theatrical run and a month at $19.99, “Tenet” is now thriving at $5.99 and holds the top spot at all three lists that rank by purchases. At FandangoNow, which ranks by revenue, it is #6, the highest among standard-price entries. Best of all for Warner Bros., its normal share of a VOD release is around 70 percent. That compares to the 63 percent it demanded from theaters.
“Tenet” held off two significant new PVOD entries from Universal and Focus, “News of the World” and “Promising Young Woman.” Paul Greengrass’ Tom Hanks western led Apple TV for three days and placed second to “Tenet” at Google Play over the weekend. This comes as Universal’s “The Croods: A New Age” continues its strong presence at $19.99. “News” is #1 at FandangoNow, with “Promising” at #3 on their PVOD-dominated list.

If “Redemption Day” were any more generic, the first thing you’d see on screen would be a bar code in place of the opening credits. It’s the handiwork of first-time feature filmmaker Hicham Hajji, making his directorial debut after years of assistant-directing gigs for Hollywood and homegrown productions in his native Morocco. And the best thing to say to say about it is, it’s certainly no worse than most other run-of-the-mill, run-and-gun action-adventures that used to proliferate on Blockbuster store shelves and which now feed the seemingly insatiable demand for VOD fare. Trouble is, it’s no better, either.

"This one's off the books." Saban Films has released the official trailer for an intense action movie called Redemption Day, marking the feature directorial debut of Moroccan producer Hicham Hajji. Here's the pitch perfect jingoistic logline: "A US Marine infiltrates a terrorist group to save American hostages." Only thing missing is kissing the feet of the President after it's all over. After the Marine's wife is kidnapped in Morocco, he is forced back into action for a daring and deadly operation in Algeria to save the woman he loves. This stars Gary Dourdan as Captain Brad Paxton, along with Serinda Swan, Martin Donovan, Ernie Hudson, Samy Naceri, and Andy Garcia. I'm always in awe of how all these action movies are always exact copies of themselves, just rinse and repeat, same plot and same shots and everything. Oh well. The U.S. firm will present the project to buyers at the upcoming European Film Market.
Run Hide Fight follows 17-year-old Zoe Hull (May) who uses her wits, survival skills, and compassion to fight for her life, and those of her fellow classmates, against a group of live-streaming school shooters.
Currently in post-production, the film also stars Eli Brown (Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists), Olly Sholotan (All American), Cyrus Arnold (Zoolander 2), Britton Sear (Boy Erased), Catherine Davis (S.W.A.T.), Treat Williams (Deep Rising), and Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator).
The project’s subject matter is a highly sensitive one. The filmmakers discussed their rationale for making the film and its journey when we broke news about it late last year.

Voltage Pictures unveiled the first look at its political-action drama “Redemption Day,” starring Andy Garcia, Gary Dourdan and Serinda Swan and set in Morocco.
In the Moroccan-set film, Dourdan portrays a Us. Marine Captain on a rescue mission to save his wife (Swan) when she is kidnapped by a terrorist group leader (Samy Naceri). Garcia is playing the American Ambassador in Morocco and Brice Bexter is portraying a Moroccan counter-terrorisim agent.
