In The Stoic, after a group of mercenaries raid a gang's den, they flee to a country hideout with two hostages. A Stoic, a member of a criminal clan, enraged about the women's capture, attacks the mercenaries.
The conflict escalates into an explosive showdown between the Stoic and the mercenaries' ruthless boss determined to kill him.
British actor Scott Wright leads a cast which also sees screen icon Jason Flemyng deliver a memorable supporting turn as the enigmatic Carlisle.
During our conversation, Flemyng talks candidly about what drew him to The Stoic and the fun of hopping into a movie in exchange for "a brown envelope full of cash." On a more serious note, the actor also explains why he takes pleasure in supporting independent projects like this one given his own start alongside then-up-and-coming filmmakers Matthew Vaughn and Guy Ritchie.

Stars: Charlie Cox, Billy Cook, Freema Agyeman, Robert Portal, Mackenzie Crook, Eve Myles, Vincent Regan, Tony Curran, Dexter Fletcher, Ruth Jones, Annette Crosbie | Written by Danny King | Directed by Jason Flemyng
The directorial debut of actor Jason Flemyng, this low budget British horror-comedy has a solid cast and a moderately intriguing premise, but it can’t quite decide whether it wants to go for scares or laughs and ends up falling awkwardly between the two.
Written by Danny King (Wild Bill), Eat Locals (originally Eat Local, with an ‘s’ being added in the marketing stage) centres on a coven of centuries-old vampires – including Daredevil’s Charlie Cox, Doctor Who’s Freema Agyeman and One Foot in the Grave‘s Annette Crosbie – convening for their semi-centennial meeting at a remote country farmhouse. Also present is naïve orphan Sebastian (Billy Cook), who thinks he’s on a promise with vampish Vanessa (Eve Myles,...

The Lock, Stock actor makes his directorial debut with a charmingly no-budget horror-comedy that knows far better than to take itself seriously
I don’t like to get too particular about star ratings, but actor Jason Flemyng’s directorial debut Eat Locals is the kind of movie that lies right on the cusp between the two- and three-star astral plains. A larky, cheerfully trashy vampire romp, it was clearly made with a budget of next to nowt and a packet of crisps for the catering table. But it has the wisdom not to take itself seriously in the slightest, and there are moments when it rustles up a few properly amusing gags and well-turned one-liners.
It helps that the cast clearly enjoy sinking their prosthetic teeth into the silliness of playing a cadre of ancient, bickering undead having an away-day meeting at a remote farmhouse when a military unit tracks them to their lair.

A low-budget British vampire comedy with more bark than bite, Eat Locals feels like a school reunion project for survivors of Guy Ritchie’s early gangster films. The director is one-time Ritchie regular Jason Flemyng, the cast includes cameos from his former screen comrades Dexter Fletcher and Nick Moran, and the main fight sequence was guest-directed by breakout action star Jason Statham. But a much more obvious influence than Ritchie on this affectionate horror parody are the genre-spoofing comic-book antics of Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, whose tongue-in-cheek signature style looms large enough here to invite some unflattering comparisons.

The directorial debut of actor Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, X-Men: First Class), Eat Locals is an action-packed and darkly comic thriller of supernatural proportions, blending gut-busting laughs with blood-spattered shocks – which reunites the cast of Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, with Nick Moran and Dexter Fletcher both starring and Jason Statham directing the fight scenes!
Billed as “Assault On Precinct 13 meets Interview With A Vampire,” Eat Locals is the story of a coven of bloodsuckers whose bark is almost as bad as their bite. The film stars a plethora of experience actors: Charlie Cox (Stardust, Daredevil), Freema Agyeman (Dr. Who, Sense 8), Mackenzie Crook (Pirates Of The Caribbean, Game of Thrones), Tony Curran (Underworld: Evolution, League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Eve Myles (Torchwood), Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey, Stella), Annette Crosbie (One Foot In The Grave, Into The Woods) and Vincent Regan (300, Snow White & The Huntsman,...
