Image
Chevelle have announced their 10th studio album, Bright as Blasphemy, arriving August 15th via Alchemy Recordings.

The Illinois alt-metal vets also dropped a new song, “Jim Jones,” the sequel to the album’s previously released lead single “Rabbit Hole.” The forceful track touts thick groove-metal riffs and an inspired performance from singer-guitarist Pete Loeffler, who puts his falsetto to work across the five-minute runtime.

“History teaches us the longest rabbit hole has no end,” the band succinctly said about the new song via a press release, following up the ominous message expressed in the prior single “Rabbit Hole.” Themes of dystopian techno-futurism run through both songs, as well as the LP sleeve art and various track titles such as “AI Phobias” and “Shocked at the End of the World.”

“Human Existence encompasses both inherent challenges and potential,” stated the band. “It’s up to you how to pass the time.

Rufus Sewell in Le cheval pâle d'Agatha Christie (2020)
‘Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse’ Review: Stylish Folk Horror in 1960s England Goes Awry
Rufus Sewell in Le cheval pâle d'Agatha Christie (2020)
On the surface, Rufus Sewell’s character Mark Easterbrook in “Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse” has it all — in the most polished TV sense imaginable. It’s 1960s London, and he’s a very successful antiques dealer; he has an endless collection of trendy slim-cut suits; he lives in one of those row houses that make tourists gawp; he’s got a car James Bond would envy and a beautiful wife.

But appearances are deceiving, because he’s falling apart at his impressively tailored seams. Women he’s slept with keep dying, and the police just told him that he’s on some kind of hit list created by a very successful and mysterious and, who knows, maybe supernatural serial killer. On top of that next-level weirdness, his hair is starting to fall out in chunks. Is Mark the “pale horse” referenced in the Book of Revelation — Death, the final horseman of the apocalypse?...

Pearry Teo & Kim Durham re-team for ‘Amityville Nightmares’
Coming off the success of Pale Horse (the first posters for which are here), producer Kim Durham, and production partners, Wayne and Maria Durham have acquired the rights to bestselling author Amy Miles new book Visitation: An Amityville Nightmare, along with the rights to Award winning horror director, Pearry Teo’s (Curse of Sleeping Beauty, Dracula) screenplay by the same title. Teo is attached to direct the picture which is currently in pre-production; casting for which is expected to begin in August.

The novel is inspired by the Amityville Horror series and will focus on theories and real life accounts of the original DeFeo murders. Says Teo:

At this point, it is an honor to have a peak at Amy’s manuscript before it is published, so getting in early into the game proves to be a huge advantage for us. And it’s always a pleasure to work with...

Strange Blood (2015)
Interview: Pearry Teo, Producer of Strange Blood!
Strange Blood (2015)
Man o’ man, ghouls, look who just dropped by the Crypt o’ Xiii! None other than virtuoso producer/die-rector Pearry Teo! Welcome Pearry, why not have a seat right here on this coff… er, I mean sofa, and let’s get down to the horror biz and discuss your latest production Strange Blood!

I enjoyed the pacing of that movie, where it’s a slow burn rather than trying to cram gore into our mouths. I always wanted to do a horror movie where women are not portrayed as sex objects or running away from a killer. In fact, Gemma...
