Joe Marinelli, the veteran character actor who amused and attracted admirers as the cross-dressing mobster Bunny Tagliatti on the NBC soap opera Santa Barbara, has died. He was 68.
Marinelli died Sunday in Burbank after a battle with stomach cancer, his wife of nearly 34 years, musician Jean Marinelli, told The Hollywood Reporter. She said they never had a fight.
After playing Bernardo “Bunny” Tagliatti from 1988-90, Marinelli portrayed bank robber Pauly Hardman on the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light in 1993 and another crook, Joseph Sorel, on the ABC soap General Hospital from 1999-2001.
More recently, he recurred as Uba director Donny Spagnoli on the first three seasons of the Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show.
“I really loved him and what he stood for,” Mark Duplass, who plays Tms executive producer Chip Black on the show, said in a statement. “We didn’t spend 10,000 hours together, but we were spiritually aligned in many ways.

In April of 2025, /Film reported that director Shawn Levy, the Hollywood journeyman behind "Big Fat Liar," "The Pink Panther," "Real Steel," and "Deadpool & Wolverine," will be overseeing a brand new "Star Wars" film called "Star Wars: Starfighter." Little is known about the project at this juncture, other than it will star Ryan Gosling as a heretofore unknown character, and that it will be set after the events of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker." The vast bulk of the "Star Wars" projects made by Disney since its acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012 have been flashbacks, prequels, or interquels, so "Starfighter" will be the first "Star Wars" film since 2019 to push the timeline forward.
Mikey Madison, the Academy Award-winning star of Sean Baker's "Anora," was reportedly approached to play a role in "Starfighter" as well. Evidently, she was being tapped to play the film's central villainess. Madison was a rising...

Following her Academy Award win for Anora, Mikey Madison has found her next project in an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's story The Masque of the Red Death. She was reportedly offered the villain role in Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter, but allegedly passed on the movie over a pay disagreement. Madison can pick whatever project she wants and seems to have found the perfect follow-up to Anora, one that was first published in 1842.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Madison has signed on to star in director Charlie Polinger's adaptation of The Masque of the Red Death for A24. She will play twin sisters in a story that follows a mad prince who takes the noble class into his castle while a plague devastates the peasantry. Exclusive: Mark Feuerstein has joined the cast of Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole’s new Netflix series, Nemesis, in a recurring role.
He will not return as Steven Ott from the Power franchise, which Kemp created; instead, he will play Sam Morrow, a high-powered attorney and total shark willing to toe the ethical line in the name of protecting his clients. Steven and Sam may not be the same guy, but they certainly have some things in common.
Feuerstein is the second Power star to join Nemesis, following Shane Johnson’s casting in April. It’s as yet unknown if Johnson and Feuerstein may share any scenes.

Mikey Madison has landed another buzzy project after nabbing the Oscar for her performance in “Anora.” The actor is in talks to lead A24 and Picturestart’s “The Masque of the Red Death,” writer/director Charlie Polinger’s wildly revisionist take on the short story of the same name by Edgar Allen Poe.
Madison replaces Sydney Sweeney, who sources say dropped from the project due to scheduling conflicts. Polinger and Lucy McKendrick will executive produce. A24 has acquired worldwide distribution rights for the film.
Polinger is currently in post-production on his film “The Plague,” which was made independently and stars Joel Edgerton. He is represented by UTA and Anonymous Content.
Madison will next star in “Reptilia” alongside Kirsten Dunst. The thriller tells the story of a dental hygienist who is seduced by a mysterious mermaid into the dark and wet underworld of Florida’s exotic animal trade. Alejandro Landes Echavarría,...

The fantasy-romance film Practical Magic opened more than 25 years ago, in 1998, to be precise. Despite the fact that it bombed at the box office, its fans transformed the movie into a cult classic and continually nudged Warner Bros. to greenlight a sequel. Well, it’s officially happening. A sequel is in the works, with some major involvement from a Star Trek talent.
Warner Bros. took to social media last week with a teaser announcing that Practical Magic 2, featuring returning stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, will open in theaters on September 18, 2026. The Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier, who directed Bullock in Bird Box and Kidman in both The Undoing and The Perfect Couple, will direct the sequel.
The Star Trek factor -- so far -- includes Akiva Goldsman. The Oscar-winning Goldsman co-wrote the original Practical Magic film and, according to the Hollywood trade paper Variety, has penned the upcoming sequel.

Plot: In this six-episode dark comedic series, Tom Segura navigates unthinkable situations and fantasies within a cinematic world.
Review: Tom Segura likes messed-up humor. The comedian and podcaster has made a career by telling relatable yet slightly intrusive jokes. Along with his contemporaries Bill Burr and Bert Kreischer, Tom Segura’s brand of comedy is shockingly honest and shockingly blunt yet delivered in a way that makes you think as hard as you are laughing. Segura also loves the scope and scale of cinema and has channeled that into his new series, Bad Thoughts. A collection of loosely connected short films unified by episodic themes, Bad Thoughts is for fans of ambitious comedic series like Key & Peele, Louie, Better Things, and Dave, but through a twisted lens reminiscent of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. Hilarious and deeply disturbing at the same time, Bad Thoughts will have you laughing...

Another live-action Disney movie came and went this year after Marc Webb’s Snow White proved to lack the energy to snap out of its eternal sleep at the box office. But, in the shadow of the Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot-led film, another rises to take its place. And, with a much darker version of the classic tale, we’d imagine that the film, The Death of Snow White, would receive a stamp of approval from the Brothers Grimm. Today, Collider is thrilled to debut the exclusive first look at the trailer for the Jason Brooks (Friday the 13th: Vengeance)-helmed production that features Chelsea Edmundson (The Iron Claw) as the Evil Queen and Sanae Loutsis as Snow White.

As everyone wonders how Mikey Madison will follow up her Oscar-winning performance in Anora, it seems she won't be heading to a galaxy far, far away as she has now reportedly passed on the upcoming Star Warsentry starring Ryan Gosling. After appearing in critically acclaimed titles like Better Things, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and 2022's Scream, Mikey Madison's role in Anora earned her critical acclaim and an Academy Award for Best Actress, beating out stars like Demi Moore in The Substance and Cynthia Erivo in Wicked. At just 26 years old, Madison is likely at the top of every studio's short list for their major films, and she now has the clout to decide what she does and doesn't want to do.
Variety reports that Madison was offered a lead role in the upcoming Star Wars film directed by Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy and starring Academy Award-nominee Ryan Gosling.

Mikey Madison won’t journey into a Galaxy Far Far Away for her first project after picking up the best actress Oscar.
Sources tell Variety that Madison was offered a role in the new and untitled “Star Wars” movie directed by “Deadpool & Wolverine” filmmaker Shawn Levy, but conversations have since ended with the “Anora” star passing on the part.
As previously reported, screenwriter Jonathan Tropper has been writing the screenplay for the film, which will star Ryan Gosling. Levy — who will join the rarefied club of directors who’ve worked with both Canadian movie stars named Ryan — has been developing the project since late 2022 and is also producing for his 21 Laps company, along with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
The movie is said to be a standalone project that isn’t connected with the Skywalker Saga, which concluded with 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” All other plot details...

Mikey Madison has experienced a meteoric rise to superstardom thanks to her Academy Award-winning performance in Sean Baker's romantic dramedy Anora, in which the talented leading lady beautifully portrayed the titular New York stripper who experiences a whirlwind love affair with the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch. Not only did the acclaimed picture take home five golden statuettes, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Madison, but it also became Baker's highest-grossing film of his blossoming career thus far.
Though it may seem as though Madison came out of nowhere when she took audiences by storm with her career-defining performance, the actress had actually been hustling in Hollywood for years before headlining the captivating indie hit. In fact, Baker first became a fan of the actress when she appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, though it was her diabolical role as Amber Freeman...

One of the major things we learned about Mikey Madison from her Oscar-winning performance in Sean Baker's Anora is that the girl can scream. Well. And loudly. It's an effective skill to have, particularly if you're considering joining a reboot of one of the most beloved horror franchises of all time. Which is apparently what is currently happening, if new Resident Evil rumors are to be believed.
That's right: according to a new report from World of Reel, the Better Things and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood actress has been offered the lead part in Barbarian writer/director Zach Cregger's reboot of Resident Evil. Madison, if she accepts this purportedly offered role, would star opposite the already-cast Austin Abrams (perhaps best known for his roles in Euphoria and The Walking Dead). According to World of Reel, Cregger's reboot is "rumored to follow a hapless courier (Abrams) tasked...

For Pamela Adlon, starting to watch a new show can be a treacherous thing.
“I have Ocd so if I start something, I’m screwed. I know I’ve got to see this through,” the multi-hyphenate explained, kicking off the jury press conference for this year’s Series Mania.
Adlon, a multiple-Emmy nominee for her writing and acting work on FX’s Better Things and Louie, has been binging on some the best in global TV as head of of the international jury at the international television festival, which runs through March 28 in Lille, France. She joined her fellow jurors — Downton Abbey and Better Call Saul director Minkie Spiro, award-winning French actress Karin Viard (The Bélier Family, Polisse), U.S.-Argentine actor Ignacio Serricchio (Bones, The Young and the Restless), and French musician and composer Victor Le Masne — to talk up the small screen highlights of this year’s competition.

Millennials of a certain vintage may know “Deli Boys” creator Abdullah Saeed from his cannabis-related content for Vice, including shows like “Weediquette” and “Bong Appetit.” With his new Hulu sitcom, Saeed has both made the switch to scripted series and upgraded to harder stuff. The namesake protagonists of “Deli Boys,” two spoiled rich kids who suddenly lose their father, are stunned to learn their family legacy isn’t actually a regional chain of Delaware Valley convenience stores: It’s the cocaine smuggling ring for which the delis were just a distribution front.
A crime comedy with a heavy skew toward the comedy, “Deli Boys” sets its unserious tone with the slapstick demise of patriarch Baba Dar (Iqbal Theba), who gushes blood after taking a golf ball to the head as his slack-jawed failsons Mir (Asif Ali) and Raj (Saagar Shaikh) look on in horror. Less than 24 hours after standing in front of the world to accept the best actress Oscar for her performance in Anora, Mikey Madison is getting glammed up at a friend’s guest house in Beverly Hills to shoot her morning-after cover for The Hollywood Reporter, when she receives a congratulatory text from an unknown number. “Who is this?!” she asks no one in particular, speculating aloud that it might be a producer of a past project … or perhaps a stranger who had tracked her down? As her two little dogs rest on the laps of friends, her proud twin brother watches from a corner and her newly acquired statuette gleams on a table nearby, one of her representatives quietly suggests, “It might be time for you to change your number.”
It’s not unreasonable advice for a 25-year-old whom everyone suddenly wants a piece of. After all, in one magical evening,...

Anora scored five Oscars on Sunday, but one of its wins took many, including Jack Antonoff, by surprise. Demi Moore was the odds-on favorite to win Best Actress, but The Substance star fell to Anora star Mikey Madison. But Madison's victory is not very surprising when you get down to it. Here's how she pulled off the win.
1. The stronger movie prevails over narrative
Anora won five Oscars from six nominations, with four wins for Sean Baker: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. The Palme d'Or champ was the Oscar frontrunner for most of the season, with just a short blip after its Golden Globe shutout before it claimed the Producers Guild of America and Directors Guild of America Awards to reassert itself. The Substance had five nominations, a great haul for a body-horror film, and won one, Best Makeup and Hairstyling. It...

Now that awards season has finally ended, the year’s biggest Oscar winners — including Anora filmmaker Sean Baker and his Oscar-winning lead actress, Mikey Madison — can take a well-deserved beat to consider what comes next. Here’s what the new crop of Oscar winners plan on doing as an encore.
Sean Baker
Before Anora, the films of Sean Baker had only received one single Oscar nomination: Best Supporting Actor for The Florida Project star Willem Dafoe in 2018. Now, Baker is in the Oscars history books as the only person to win four Oscars in a single night for the same movie. What a difference a single project can make. Baker has not yet revealed specifics about his follow-up film. Still, the filmmaker has said it will not stray far from his recent output, which has focused on sex workers struggling to navigate America’s capitalist society. “We’re going to...
