    It seems to be shell shock, now known as post-traumatic stress disorder.

    At one point in the series a type of medication is identified as a barbiturate.

    The vails used at first are old morphine single doses.



    It is Edvard Grieg's Arietta, Op. 12, No. 1. Wikipeda Germany says it's performed by Vadim Chaimovich.



    "Demons of Passion" was not a real film made in Germany in the late sound era 20's . Would've been great to cameo Murnau, Lang and Pabst at the last episode film premiere though.



    They are from an animated film by Walter Ruttmann from 1922 called "Lichtspiel. Opus 1". (It's cited in the credits to Babylon Berlin.) Ruttmann wrote and directed the monumental "Berlin: Sinfone einer Grossstadt" from 1927. If you're interested in Berlin from this period, you have to see this film. Ruttmann was also the cinematographer on several Fritz Lang films including Metropolis.
