The Great War

Great series, reliable information. 10-15min screen time per week of war means there is time for smaller details that are important and interesting but not often mentioned in books or school. This show also gives a great insight into how long different campaigns, battles etc were. If you only read about them, you understand it but when you watch these it really hits you how many weeks this or that horrible thing lasted, and how each week there is a more depressing number of wounded and dead.

Given the fact that World War I is now 100+ years in the past, it can be hard for modern minds to wrap their heads around that war's grand scale and horror. This YouTube channel neatly resolves that disconnect with a sweeping and intricately detailed account of the conflict that delves into every possible aspect.

With a real-time weekly scheduling of the retrospective over four years, the producers have every incentive for such comprehensiveness and you will learn so much about a tragedy that still reverberates today.

Series is full of great information but most is based on lecture style. Host talks too fast and doesn't use enough supporting graphics, especially when getting into tactical details. My impression is they guy has a bit of an ego and just loves to hear himself talk. I got part way through 1915 and just couldn't watch it any longer.
