Chicago – How do you communicate Hong Kong’s homeless situation in a fresh and relatable way? Wong Hing Fan’s new film “I’m Livin’ It” takes on not only poverty, but the shortage of housing for professional and working class people. The main setting is a 24 hour burger restaurant – with the sly marketing slogan of “I’m Livin’ It!”
Once a star in his finance firm, Bowen (Aaron Kwok) now spends his nights in that fast food joint, which allows the homeless an overnight respite area, and he encounters other “roommates” who are in a similar predicament. There is a child and her mother (Cya Liu) – who has taken out high interest loans to cover her mother-in-law’s debt, an old man (Alex Man) who is too afraid to go home, a young runaway (Zeno Koo), and a singer (Miriam Yeung) who was part of the financier’s past.

Fresh off her starring role in Lady Bloodfight, Amy Johnston returns in yet another Dtv action flick that, this time around, makes excellent use of not only her fight skills (which are as impressive as ever) but also her acting skills…
Here Johnston plays Becca, a former underground fighter who abandons the sport for a life at an animal shelter after a brutal family tragedy invovling her father. However when her sister Kate comes to her and begs her to help repay a massive debt, Becca must re-enter the world of illegal underground fighting and resume her fight career as “Bex the Beast”. Whilst training Kate’s team of fighters – hence the...

Ever since Ronda Rousey stepped into the Octogan and took the world by storm, Female Mma has gone to a whole new level. Everyone from Ufc to Hollywood is trying to cash in on this new wave of female athletes. Female Fight Squad is the latest attempt from Hollywood to capitalize on the swelling popularity of Women's Mma. Starring martial artist, and stunt performer, Amy Johnston as the main lead, Rebecca, in a prototypical fight movie. A retired fighter must get back into the ring to save a loved one from a debt they owe. As any good throwback fighting movie it is only natural to cast an actor from the 80's or 90's. Dolph Lundgren is that actor who stars in this movie, and doesn't overshadow the story at all.
The plot of the movie is nothing we haven't already seen from any Mma/fighting movie. A former fighter,...

Boone, a fame-seeking reality show Bounty Hunter (think a douchier version of TV’s Dog the Bounty Hunter) gets carried away in his role and tries to bring down a drug lord and his empire. But when his quest for accolades ends with a bounty on his own head, Boone learns that serving justice is a heck of a lot more dangerous than just ratings.
Apparently conceived by star John Hennigan some five years ago, Boone: The Bounty Hunter has been a labour of love for the wrestler and actor ever since, with Hennigan eventually funding the film himself – no doubt through the money he earned wresting for the likes of Lucha Underground...

Chris Nahon’s action film effectively lives up to its title. It features sexy ladies fighting in bloody fashion, and on its own limited terms provides the sort of violent entertainment geared to fans who enjoy watching movies like, well, Lady Bloodfight. Fans of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s 1988 cult classic Bloodsport, which this film closely resembles, will best appreciate this distaff version starring ace stuntwoman Amy Johnston, who possesses the gorgeous looks and superb physicality to carry the vehicle.
Johnston’s character, June, establishes her badass bona fides early in the film when she efficiently dispatches a rude male customer at the...

Question: Are you a fan of Bloodsport, Kickboxer, King of the Kickboxers, or any of the many similar “fighting championship” movies that were released around the time Van Damme’s film hit it big? You are? Then stop reading any firther and go out and buy Lady Bloodfight. Right now. Go on. You can come back here later to read what I think…. Shop’s are shut? Go buy it digitally. Now.
Why? Because Lady Bloodfight is The female equivalent of Bloodsport. It may have taken 28 years but we’ve finally got one. It’s just as badass, just as packed with top-notch martial arts and...

Vertical Entertainment has released the first trailer from their upcoming action-thriller Lady Bloodfight, which is set for a theatrical release on May 5. The studio has also provided us with the first poster that takes us closer into the action, showcasing the characters who square off against each other in a brutal fighting tournament known as The Kumite. While this tournament bears the same name as the tournament portrayed in the 1988 classic Bloodsport, this upcoming action-thriller showcases an all-female tournament.
Lady Bloodfight centers on Jane (Amy Johnston), a beautiful but troubled American girl backpacking her way through Hong Kong. When she successfully fends off three thugs trying to rob her, she draws the attention of Shu (Muriel Hofmann), a Wudang champion, who is impressed by her raw street fighting abilities. Shu recruits Jane and trains her to fight in the vicious, all-female, underground martial arts tournament known as "The Kumite" in...

You know, it's been awhile since I've seen an awesomely bad martial arts competition movie. There was Streetfighter, Bloodsport, I even count Balls of Fury on some level. But this new film, Lady Bloodfight already has caught my interest.
Now, I'm not saying I don't enjoy terrible martial arts competition movies. I love them. You get all the weird characters with different styles and quirks. In fact, if I were to criticize the new Iron Fist Netflix series it would be that I wanted more unique challengers for Iron Fist to go up against. My favorite part of the series is when he took on the three challenges in one episode. That's the kinda thing I expect from martial arts movies. It's also the kind of thing the Iron Fist comics are leading towards.
So you can believe me when I say that just because this new film Lady Bloodfight looks terrible,...

"Where did you learn to fight like that?" Vertical Entertainment has released the first trailer for an indie called Lady Bloodfight, about a woman who trains to fight in an underground martial arts tournament in Asia. This kinda, sorta seems like an all-women version of Jcvd's Bloodsport, but with its own modern cinematic quirks. Amy Johnston plays a woman named Jane who is recruited by Shu, a Wudang champion played by Muriel Hofmann, to participate in the tournament. The full cast includes Jenny Wu, Kathy Wu, Mayling Ng, Jet Tranter, Sunny Coelst, Rosemary Vandebrouck, Lisa Cheng, Chalinene Bassinah, and Lauren Rhoden. This looks both extremely cheesy and extremely badass, I'm definitely intrigued, but also worried it's going to be straight-to-dvd quality. We'll have to see ourselves. Take a look. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Chris Nahon's Lady Bloodfight, direct from YouTube: A blonde woman named Jane (Amy Johnston) arrives in Asia,...

Voltage Media just released a new trailer for “Lady Bloodfight,” a very gory action film starring Amy Johnston that mixes Jean Claude Van Damme’s “Bloodsport” with a “Kill Bill”-esque female spin. The trailer shows Johnston playing Jane, an American tourist lost in China who follows a complete stranger who offers her help into a back alley. When she’s savagely mugged, she’s rescued by the head of an all-female martial arts dojo who gained her experience from the Kumite, a deadly underground fighting tournament. Hoping to learn the skills that will help her get back what was robbed from her,...
