Suits LA is pulling out the big guns, bringing back a major villain from the original series — just as Stephen Amell’s star power fails to save the spinoff. While fans hoped for a fresh take, the show seems to be banking on nostalgia to keep interest alive.

Another “Suits” alum is coming to “Suits LA.” Variety has learned exclusively that David Costabile is set to appear on the recently-launched NBC series, reprising the role of Daniel Hardman.
Costabile will appear in a guest star role in a future episode, but exact details are being kept under wraps. He will be the latest original “Suits” actor to appear on “Suits LA,” joining both Gabriel Macht and Rick Hoffman.
In the original series, Hardman was formerly a partner at Pearson Hardman before he was forced out of the firm when it was discovered he was embezzling money to finance an affair, originally claiming he was doing so to help his dying wife. He would appear throughout the course of the show in various attempts to take over the firm and cause problems for Harvey and Jessica.

Elena Oxman’s “Outerlands” is a film of great cinematic sleight of hand. The withdrawn San Francisco drama, about lonely nonbinary nanny and restaurant server Cass (Asia Kate Dillon), is simple in its presentation, but disguises numerous layers to its story. These eventually unravel, and build to an emotional wallop. When work crush Kalli (Louisa Krause) suddenly leaves town, Cass is placed in charge of her quiet but headstrong 11-year-old daughter, Ari (Ridley Asha Bateman). The longer Kalli stays away, the more Cass is forced to reckon not just with the possibility that Ari has been abandoned, but with their own childhood abandonment, which continues to ripple in the present.
This straightforward plot is often broken up by poetic interludes, made up of languid shots of a changing cityscape. Once a bustling queer capital, the inequality plaguing San Francisco has reached something of a breaking point. On one side stand tech company high rises.

A sometime sex worker longs for love in director/writer/star Annapurna Sriram’s chaotic debut feature film, Fucktoys. We meet AP (Sriram) mid-tarot reading, sitting in the middle of a swamp, listening to the wisdom of a psychic played by iconic rapper, Big Freedia. Sriram may be familiar to viewers from her appearances in Billions or The Blacklist, but she’s mostly flown under the radar working...

Because the world does not feel dystopian enough, “Black Mirror” is finally releasing its Season 7 premiere date. The sci-fi anthology from Charlie Brooker will return on April 10 with six new episodes.
This new season will contain a previously announced followup to the Emmy-winning “USS Callister” starring Cristin Milioti. Fittingly, the trailer for this new season starts with Milioti’s Lieutenant Cole gasping as an unseen voice says “We’d like to welcome you back.”
The trailer then cycles between clips of wild scenarios that are never fully explained. One minute, a man is putting on a Batman mask. The next, Issa Rae is being transported into a black-and-white world filled with AI people. Still the next, Rashida Jones collapses like a powered off robot while pitching cereal in front of a class of children. You know, classic “Black Mirror” stuff.
But the most exciting part of this first trailer does...

Once upon a time, mostly in the 1980s and 90s, the downtown Manhattan indie movie was a thing. Films like Jim Jarmusch’s Permanent Vacation, Edo Bertoglio’s Downtown 81, Larry Clark’s Kids and, later on, early Safdie brothers efforts like The Pleasure of Being Robbed were gritty off-the-cuff street features made on tiny budgets, shouldered by directors looking to capture the weird and wild world below 14th Street.
But living in that part of the city soon became expensive, and more expensive, and even more expensive — to the point that many writers, artists and filmmakers were priced out of their neighborhoods. Shooting in Manhattan also became exorbitantly costly, leaving room for only well-funded TV shows like Law & Order, Billions or Succession. Even the latest NYC-set Safdie joint (directed by Josh Safdie in his first solo effort) is an epic period piece, starring Timothée Chalamet, with a budget estimated between $50-$70 million.

With a title like “Fucktoys,” Annapurna Sriram’s directorial debut boldly announces its wild intentions. A provocative name like that has been known to backfire, especially as it can over-inflate one’s expectations for the gonzo filmmaking they’re about to witness. But Sriram’s movie — a grotesque odyssey through a place called Trashtown, which has shades of New Orleans and a hint of Los Angeles — is at least impressively strange. It’s the kind of project that, despite some flaws, allows Sriram to stake her claim as a filmmaker to watch, with a distinctive voice that mashes up rockabilly aesthetics with Tarot mysticism and an incredible dig at James Franco. This is the kind of thing you want to see at a festival like SXSW: Messy, but wholly original in its genre mashup.
As an actress, Sriram appeared on the likes of “Billions” and “The Blacklist,” shows that are tonally miles apart from “Fucktoys.

Annapurna Sriram has a lengthy showbiz resume, acting in massive series like “The Blacklist” and “Billions,” indie films and other projects. Yet, after a childhood obsessed with daring cinema from auteurs like John Waters, she didn’t feel she was living up to her creative potential.
“As an actor who is ethnically ambiguous, I was getting pigeonholed into a lot of really boring, sort of racial stereotypes,” Sriram says. “‘You’re the brown girl with a headscarf whose parents have an arranged marriage. You’re the doctor in this.’ So I felt like that didn’t excite me, and if I wanted to be a doctor, I’d just be a doctor. I’d make a lot more money, and my parents wouldn’t stress out so much.”
So began the long genesis of “Fucktoys,” her debut feature which is set to premiere tonight at the SXSW TV & Film Festival.

If you love the wild drama of Succession, these 10 TV shows are right up your alley!
Just wrapping up its amazing run on HBO, Succession was one of the biggest hits of the network. It revolved around the Roys, a family of beyond-rich business tycoons seeking more power. That led to scores of backstabbing and dark comedy of this truly dysfunctional family trying to work together.
The show was a huge hit, with multiple Emmy Awards for its cast and Best Drama, among other accolades. It’s over now, but thankfully, there are plenty of shows like it for folks who enjoy tales set in the world of high finance and often involving bickering to the point of murdering families. Even though Leonardo DiCaprio has delivered banger after banger throughout his tenure in Hollywood’s entertainment industry as an actor, not many come as close to perfection at its peak as The Wolf of Wall Street. To say the least, that epic biographical black comedy crime film not only exceeded expectations but also turned out to be beyond immersive and intriguing.

Being such a massively commended project, it’s only understandable that people want more of it through similar pieces. Turns out, similar pieces do exist: In the television shows field.

John Cena's Matchbox movie has added a third actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to its cast. Corey Stoll, who portrayed Darren Cross/Yellowjacket/M.O.D.O.K. in the Ant-Man movies, has become the latest actor to join Matchbox.
Deadline was the first to report Stoll's casting. At this time, his role remains under wraps. While he is perhaps best known on the big screen for his villainous MCU role, Stoll's film credits include Non-Stop, Driven, First Man, The Many Saints of Newark, West Side Story, and Rebel Moon. Every year at Sundance, it seems like there’s one new filmmaker who gets chosen as the promising new voice to make their debut at the festival. This is the festival that launched the careers of Quentin Tarantino, Steven Soderbergh, Paul Thomas Anderson, Jane Schoenbrun, and Darren Aronofsky, amongst many, many others. 40+ years later, it’s still introducing the world to innovative artists and the next big things. For 2025, no one has made a bigger splash at Sundance than Eva Victor. Victor has been around for a while, working as a writer, actress (most notably on Billions), and as a hilarious video creator on Twitter. But with Sorry, Baby, their feature debut as writer, director, and star, Victor has proven themselves to be an exciting new voice that movies need. And it appears A24 was listening, as the prestigious indie studio has already acquired the rights to Victor's film.

Whatever you think about the Sundance Film Festival, there is a special kind of excitement when a movie from a first-time filmmaker premieres and you just know you are discovering and witnessing the real deal.
Welcome to the “real deal” Sundance circa 2025, as comedian and actress Eva Victor’s writing and directing feature debut, Sorry, Baby, in which she also stars, premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. It has provided one of the most assured and heartfelt films not only of this festival, but also one of the most assured and heartfelt films I have seen in a very long time.
Victor, who has appeared on shows like Billions, as well as being a stand-up comic, proves that in her first attempt to write a movie (and eventually come to believe she could also direct it with herself in the lead role) she has a true talent as a storyteller.

After “Blknws: Terms & Conditions” was pulled from this year’s Sundance Film Festival lineup, at the behest of its financiers at Participant Media, the independent movie has a new backer — and will light up snowy Park City with its world premiere after all.
James Shani’s Rich Spirit and Bn Media have acquired “Blknws,” buying Participant Media out of all rights in the process, with hopes of selling the film to a new distributor. Shani’s company is best known for rescuing “The Apprentice,” the controversial Donald Trump biopic, from Kinematics, which is backed by the billionaire former owner of the Washington Commanders, Dan Snyder.
Participant, the now-defunct social impact studio, did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Though “Sex Lives of College Girls” fans know Gracie Lawrence as Kacey, a theater nerd and the new fourth roommate in Season 3, things could have been much different.
“She was a finalist to play Kimberly in Season 1,” co-creator and executive producer Justin Noble says, adding that Lawrence was in the final three under consideration for the role, which eventually went to Pauline Chalamet. But two seasons later, as the minds behind “Sex Lives of College Girls” conceptualized Kacey for the small screen, Lawrence’s audition once again stood out.
“She’s so funny and charming,” Noble says, comparing Lawrence’s take on Kacey to a “cute little Reese Witherspoon character” who rounds out the rest of the cast.
Lawrence, a singer-songwriter and actor also known for her band, Lawrence, which she co-leads with her brother Clyde, had previous credits on Showtime’s series “Billions” and the Netflix film “Moxie.”

An indie film set to premiere at this week’s Sundance Film Festival has been pulled from the lineup by its financier, Variety has learned exclusively. Full of snappy dialogue, stylish scenery, and captivating stories, "Suits" more than passes the bar when it comes to contemporary, mass appeal, prestige television. After enjoying an impressive but relatively muted nine-season run from 2011 to 2019, the USA series suddenly became one of the most popular TV shows in the 2020s thanks to a bump from Netflix. The renewed interest in it has apparently been so overwhelming that NBC ordered a spin-off from series creator Aaron Korsh.
Korsh's new series -- titled "Suits L.A." -- will feature a new law firm and a brand new cast of characters, led by "Arrow" star Stephen Amell. While fans of the mothership series may not be surprised by this choice, the absence of these beloved actors will surely be felt, especially since it's hard to find many of them in other shows, unless you know where to look.

Becky Lynch has joined Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which adds a global WWE superstar to its already stacked cast. Executive produced by co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is currently filming in Toronto. With a cast led by Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter and Academy Award-nominee Paul Giamatti, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has already received an early season 2 renewal on Paramount+.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is set in the late 32nd century after the end of Star Trek: Discovery. Reopened after a century following the galactic calamity of The Burn, Starfleet Academy welcomes a new and diverse class of Starfleet hopefuls, under the guidance of Holly Hunter's Captain, who is also Starfleet Academy's Chancellor. However, a new threat to the United Federation of Planets emerges, likely tied to Paul Giamatti's recurring villain. Becky Lynch plays one of the Starfleet Officers potentially encountering this new enemy.
