I was very impressed, especially in the last part about responsibility, as if I were talking about myself.

Adequately entertaining, but not a memorable movie...

"Golden Brother" (aka "Nam yan ng ho yee kung") from director Shu-Kai Chung was a movie that I hadn't heard about, but it being a Hong Kong movie, I did of course take the time to sit down and watch it when I was presented with the chance to do so.

While the storyline does have some great moments, the overall picture just felt mediocre, as in the movie not being particularly outstanding or memorable. And honestly, then the storyline felt rather prolonged and dragging on while taking forever to get from A to B.

It should be said that the last part of the movie was really, really beautiful, as the main characters comes to an abrupt awakening and has a change of heart, but by then it was just far, far too late to make amends for a storyline that had been slow paced and not overly exciting throughout the course of the movie.

While "Golden Brother" is by no means a Hong Kong classic, it is worth taking the time to sit down and watch it once, if you have an interest in the Hong Kong cinema, because there are some good moments here and there, and some nice acting performances by the cast.

I found the movie adequately entertaining, and that is why I am rating it five out of ten stars, but this is hardly a movie that will find its way to my media player a second time. It was an okay movie, but it was just lacking that special ingredient to make the movie outstanding and memorable.
