Although I have the DVD, I somehow thought that I had never seen the film. However, when I started watching it, I remembered that I already knew it. The film actually falls back into the category of "typical German comedy" with the usual actors in similar roles.
The film was quite entertaining, but I wouldn't say that I laughed my head off or anything. Also, some "jokes" were just a bit exaggerated and unrealistic. However, it must be said that the film was somewhat heartwarming in some places and also brought a nice message across at the end.

Not a big fan of Schweighöfer myself, but I have to admit, this did kind of work. That is of course if you can overlook a lot of clichés and the very obvious "money and progress" is bad attitude of it. But at its heart it relies on family issues and problems handling working and raising children. So while we do not have a really strong female character (apart from a girl/kid) in this, it kind of helps people understand the struggle women are facing (especially those working and trying to keep the family together).
The movie is obviously predictable and even love interests can be seen a mile away. But it still is fun to watch overall, mainly because the titular "Nanny" character. While he's not able to do many things right, it turns out he's able to do the right things ... right. Again predictable, but with a heart that might make you help enjoy this (also kid actors are solid).

I can not understand why this movie is so bad rated. Perhaps because he deals with a sore spot in our society. Todays upbringing is increasingly handed to others outside the family. Possession and consuming is increasingly at the center and displace the self-definition of ourselves trough "being".
This is a film that, in my view, makes you think. Who and what is important to me? How much time do I spend with my children? These are central issues of the film that is entraining with these two funny kids and comes along very well. For me, the film remains with his well-chosen cast, the round characters and their sovereign acting performance, as interesting in memory.

This is a feel good movie, perfect for a date or family evening (including a snaccident). The story is very German, with the Berlin Kiez and the stubborn people living in them. The other side, is almost more relatable, the real estate developer extraordinaire.
Altogether a genuine lovely movie, with good acting, authentic characters and more than average depth. You can't compare this with Adam Sandler movies or other cringy comedies, this is proper situational comedy, puns, witty writing and good production. The camera angles were chosen well, the dynamic is on point. If you are looking for a nice film, which leaves you with a warm feeling without being shallow, you are definitely in the right spot here.
