Shaun Hart’s controversial ‘Del Playa’ gets a Us release
Terror Films is set to release the indie thriller Del Playa across multiple digital platforms in North America tomorrow

Del Playa follows Matthew (Alan Ayala), who is routinely abused by his stepfather. He has a crush on Claire (Devon Barnes), during high school. His love for Claire rides a fine line between persistence and obsession. And when, Matthew is jumped by her boyfriend, things turn violent. Five years go by and Claire discovers that her high school stalker has returned for her.

The film has been surrounded by controversy from the moment the filmmakers released a trailer on YouTube in 2015. There were claims made by several people, who saw the trailer, that the movie was based on college student Elliot Rodger. In 2014, Rodger killed six other students and wounded 14 others, in Isla Vista. Then, he killed himself. A Monster is Created in Shaun Hart's Del Playa this July 21st
Tagline: "Some Monsters Aren't Born. They're Created." Del Playa is the latest, upcoming release from Terror Films. This title courted controversy, when it was associated with the Elliot Rdoger crime spree. Since 2015, the film has acquired a July release date. Del Playa will show in the United States and Canada, in just a few days. The film was directed by Shaun Hart. And, Del Playa stars: Devon Barnes , Ryan Ochoa, Brett Johnson and Alan Ayala. The film's official artwork and trailer are hosted here. The promotional material focuses on Matthew. He has his heart set on Claire. But, she already favours someone else. Rejection and a difficult home life push Matthew over the edge of sanity. Broken and alone, he turns his pain into something murderous. Now, everyone will pay for his perceived wrongs. A large portion of the film shows Matthew, behind a mask. He stalks a number of young woman.

Campaigners say indie horror profits from real-life murder spree
A petition argues that slasher film Del Playa exploits the 2014 murders of six Santa Barbara students by 22-year-old Elliot Rodger

Close to 20,000 people have signed a petition calling for the indie horror movie Del Playa to be pulled from release, following complaints that the film-makers took their storyline from a real-life killing spree.

Shaun Hart’s film centres on a troubled college student who goes on a murderous rampage after suffering romantic rejection. Campaigners claim that the plot mimics the case of Elliot Rodger, a 22-year-old Santa Barbara City College dropout who killed six University of California, Santa Barbara (Ucsb) students and injured 14 others in May 2014 before turning a gun on himself.
