The first season was awarded Australian television's two highest accolades for best drama.
Glitch was filmed mostly in the central Victorian town of Castlemaine. The police station featured is now decommissioned but was the police station for many years. The Empyre Hotel is one of the upmarket hotels in the town. The main hotel shown, is actually the Midland Hotel opposite the railway station. The interior of it is not the interior of the Midland. The cemetery is the Riddells Creek cemetery. The character, Charlie Thompson, is a curious addition because the Thompson family really exists in Castlemaine and is a 6th generation family. The impressive Kalinda family home is an old heritage building in Monegeetta about 70kms to the south east near Sunbury and at last auction was passed on for $2.4 million.
The song serenity, from Resident Evil 4 the video game, can be heard several times on each episode.
The show was filmed in and around Castlemaine, Victoria
Hannah Monson was nominated for the 2016 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role as Kirstie in Glitch (2015).
