Is That a Gun in Your Pocket?

Not a coincidence that this movie seems oddly familiar to Spike Lee's Chi-Raq as both are modern day takes on the Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes. It's like both films are on two different sides of the spectrum with Chi-Raq being on the darker side, while Is that a Gun in your Pocket being more lighter.

Taking place in Texas, after two kids accidentally shoot a man non lethally, the women in a small town decided to stop having sex with their men until they get rid of their guns.

Seems like a difficult task in a place like Texas, and this movie is far more liberal than I would have expected a movie about gun control in Texas would be, but I guess the point is if they can do it in Texas they can do it anywhere.

It does seem like a fantasy, but the message is clear and should be told. The point comes across in an entertaining way.

Very impressive how both Chi-Raq and Is that a Gun in your Pocket can tell such a similar message in two very different ways.

Been a long while haven't had a real laugh at good old comedy.

This film is well-made and the theme they chose is excellent! Gun control! Well, they managed to put enough together to make it a nice comedy.

The only thing i regret is that i didn't get any popcorn.

Briefly, the story takes place in a little town in Texas, an incident involving a gun at a school creates some havoc amongst parents and the locals.

Not saying more, don't want to spoil the fun for you.

And yes, do not look at the negative reviews. This film is fun to watch!

I really enjoy watching comedy, and even more when the main theme is about something we live everyday. I expected to watch this movie because when I saw the trailer I thought it was a great idea to combine humor with a nice reflection about carrying guns in America. This film offers something new, to laugh and also reflect about some American obsessions. I recommend it because you will have a great time by thinking how far we can get when the desire get in first row rather than doing what everyone else's does. I had a blast watching this film. It's funny and makes us remember the Lennon's line Make LOVE NOT WAR. With a great cast. A comedy that gives a second thought of some of our behaviors.

I am giving it two stars because I read in more than one source that 1-star and 10-star votes are not counted, or counted with less value.

This is a truly awful movie. I thought it would be light and entertaining but it is neither.

The acting is poor and there is nothing comedic here, only cliché. Worst of all is the juvenile treatment of positions contrary to the left's point of view and their stereotyping of persons who hold such positions. It reinforces the fact that "liberals" are actually the ultra-conservative, closed-minded, intolerant persons they claim to hate and swear they themselves are not. Interesting that apparently only they can be offended; it doesn't seem to bother them to offend their fellow countrymen deeply ... and with such a low-brow, intellectually bankrupt attempt besides.

It's so bad, I thought it was Canadian.

If you are looking to go to the movies, grab that bucket of popcorn and of course a diet soda and watch a movie that just flows with some very funny moments, a boatload of character actors who we have watched over the years but sometimes have troubles remembering their names and the movies they were in and after the movie is over spending time talking about the challenges the characters faced and discovering more golden nuggets of the story, then grab some friends and see this movie. The story is about our American male love of guns, significant others, family,small town community and others who try to influence our actions in some very funny and awkward situations. I don't want to give away any of my favorite moments, so if this movie is playing in your area, go and enjoy.
